After failing the breathalyser test, Don hits rock bottom and turns on Gail and Martin. Vera welcomes Jack home but hopes to keep Alec's stint behind the bar a secret. Sean tells Andy that Fraser was behind his attack.

Martin and Kevin drag an unconscious Don from the fume-filled garage. Jack suspects Alec of trying to worm his way back into the Rovers. Maureen turns to Curly to alleviate the tedium of Christmas with Percy.

Maureen behaves coolly towards Bill, blaming his absence for her fling with Curly. Liz learns that Steve is in trouble in prison. Don returns home amid fears that he might reattempt suicide.

Anne shocks Curly by declaring her feelings for him. Martin decides that Ashley needs to know about Don's suicide attempt. Liz asks around for word of Steve. Maxine gets drunk in the Rovers.
