Ray advises Len to be more boring to put Marj Griffin off. Effie moves from No. 4 to No. 1. Basil Griffin dumps Marj's monkey Marlon onto Len. Elsie and Maggie realise they've underestimated Marj. Marj is horrified when Ray turns up with two little boys and introduces them as Len's children. She packs and leaves but forgets to take Marlon. Billy Walker returns to the Street with a Chinese girlfriend, Jasmine Choong.

The Walkers are delighted to see Billy. Gordon returns from visiting Concepta in Ireland and leaves Lucille there. Annie isn't keen on Jasmine. She asks Emily to share her room with her but hopes she won't agree. Dickie is put out when Audrey is courted by customer Richard Matthews. Emily invites Jasmine to share her room. Audrey is embarrassed when Dickie is rude to Richard. Annie is against Jasmine because she's Chinese.

Audrey assures Dickie she's not interested in Richard Matthews. Richard has given them tickets to the cinema. Dickie has to work so Gordon agrees to take Audrey. Annie takes to her bed. Billy tells Jack that he knows Annie is trying to drive a wedge between him and Jasmine. He warns Jack that Annie is going to get hurt. Hilda sees Audrey with Gordon in the cinema. Annie collapses in the bar.

Annie is sedated. Hilda spreads the word that Audrey is having an affair with Gordon. Stan thinks about going into the antique business. Hilda tells Dickie that Audrey and Gordon were kissing in the cinema. She is annoyed when he tells her it was an act for her benefit. Jack grows concerned for Annie's health. Jasmine looks after Annie. Albert agrees to sell his sideboard to Dickie for £5, for Stan. Stan is horrified that it costs so much. Emily is annoyed at Annie's hypocrisy when she pretends to like Jasmine.

Peter and Susan go down with measles. Ena and Elsie are annoyed at Annie's hypocrisy as well. They tell Jasmine Choong about her two-faced behaviour. Jasmine assures them that she can look after herself. Stan can't move the sideboard, even with his friends' help. Jasmine tells Annie that Billy wants to marry her. Annie tells her she is not marrying him; she won't allow it. Jasmine tells her not to worry; there's no way her parents would want her to be related to someone like Annie. Albert delights in telling Stan that the sideboard was built in the house. He threatens...

Billy finishes his packing. The Barlows plan a surprise for Minnie for helping to babysit. Billy accuses Annie of wrecking his happiness. Annie breaks down when she realises he hates her. Jack asks him to be kind to her. Ena feels that the Barlows should be treating her. Ray upsets Gordon by calling Maggie a "bird" who Len is taking out. He takes a swipe at Ray. Elsie tells Billy it was Emily who caused Jasmine to see through Annie. Maggie reassures Len that she thinks of him just as a friend. Ena agrees to babysit for 5/- an hour plus two milk stouts. Ken buys a baby alarm so Ena can listen out for Peter and Susan from No. 6. Jack rows with Billy for making Emily homeless. Ken tells Ena they're taking Minnie to a Spanish restaurant and it's her turn next. A young girl called Janice looks for Len. Billy leaves. He tells Annie that if Emily goes he'll never return to the Rovers. Ena is amused with the intercom as she can listen to the Barlows' conversations. Minnie persuades the Barlows to take her bowling. Annie tries to stop Emily from leaving but she is adamant. Elsie takes her in. Ray introduces Len to his ...

Ray lays down the law to Janice but reluctantly agrees to allow her to stay. Ena worries about Minnie's betting habit. Stan hatches a plot to take advantage of Hilda's fortune-telling hobby.

Ena disapproves when Hilda reads Minnie's tea leaves and predicts a windfall. Ray fumes when Len asks Janice out. Elsie realises that she and Emily are not natural bedfellows.

Stan sets Hilda up professionally. She charges half a guinea a time. Hilda tells Val she's going to have an addition to the family. Dave embarrasses Emily by calling at odd hours. Elsie gives Len an open invitation to call on her at any time to upset Emily. Dave discovers Len, Ray and Janice had access to his car keys. He suspects Ray. With Hilda not cleaning the Rovers, Annie is worn out. Hilda tells Annie that she's going to have an unpleasant experience. Janice tells Ray she took the car with Bob Neale. He tells her to get it back. Lucille returns from Ireland. ...

Janice tells Ray she didn't see the money or the watches. Val is puzzled when Janice uses a £5 note in the shop. Len tells Ray to find the money or he's fired; he's setting a bad example to Janice. Ray hears Janice telling Bob Neale she has the money and watches. Emily tells Lucille she will return to the Rovers if Annie apologises to her. Ray catches Janice and Bob splitting the loot. He hits Bob and takes the money. Janice refuses to return to the Street with him and goes off with Bob.

Ray feels that, as Dave and Len think he took the money, he's going to keep the money and leave the area. Ena persuades Ray to give her the money and she returns it to Dave. Dave calls her interfering and tells her Minnie owes him money and he wants it back. Gordon passes his exams. He wins £5 for being the youngest to pass. Ena tells Len that Janice stole the money and that Ray is packing because he feels Len doesn't trust him. Gordon spends his prize money on an engagement ring for Lucille. Dave, Len and Ray make up. Elsie offers to pay off Minnie's debt. Stan goes ...

Dave refuses to let Minnie bet until she pays back the £10. He agrees to wipe the slate clean as a favour to Elsie. Stan worries that a Reporter is going to find out he's been making the predictions come true and then accuse Hilda of fraud. Gordon is given a rise. Stan tells Hilda she's not psychic. Ray, Lucille, Len, Elsie and Jack contrive to get Emily back in the Rovers. They send presents to her and Annie, each from the other and forge their signatures. Hilda tells the reporter her gift has gone. Ena rows with Dave and accuses him of making children starve. He ...

Ena tries to sell her rocking chair for £10 to raise the funds to pay Dave Smith back. The presents to Annie and Emily get mixed up. Emily ends up with table mats, Annie with a poetry book. Emily refuses to accept them, thinking of it as a bribe. Dave gives Minnie twenty-four hours to return the money. Ena advertises her antiques for sale. Annie doesn't like the book but agrees to thank Emily. Emily realises Elsie had a hand in the gifts and tells Annie she'll return to the Rovers. Audrey agrees to be Lucille's Matron of Honour. Ena attacks Dave in the Street. Minnie ...

Emily moves back to the Rovers. Dickie has flu, Audrey considers getting his mother to look after him. Dave agrees to drop Minnie's debt because of Ena's threat. He gives her a wad of notes to keep quiet. Ena discovers Minnie has disappeared, leaving a note asking her to look after Sunny Jim. Annie approves of Gordon now he is an accountant. Ena returns the money to Dave and tells him Minnie has disappeared.

Ena grows increasingly distressed by Minnie's disappearance. The residents turn out in force to join the search. Elsie and Emily berate Dave for encouraging Minnie's gambling.

The police tell Ena that Minnie is in hospital suffering from exposure after sleeping out for two nights on a park bench. Minnie begs the nurses not to tell anyone where she is. Ena visits Minnie but Minnie tells her to go away. Lucille is annoyed that Gordon is being off with her. Minnie tells Ena she ran away because she didn't like the unpleasantness Ena was stirring up. Dave visits Minnie and tells her he's going to put a limit on her bets. Gordon tells Maggie he doesn't want to marry Lucille.

Gordon tries to tell Lucille the wedding's off but she tells him that she's set the date for Easter Saturday and he's too scared to tell her. Elsie is touchy about her forthcoming birthday. Reverend James tries to drum up custom.

The regulars throw a party for Elsie. Jack guesses Gordon doesn't want to marry. Dickie agrees to lead a debating society for Reverend James. Lucille buys her wedding dress.

Gordon sees Lucille in her wedding dress. She tells him she loves him. He tells her that he can't marry her. Annie is furious with Gordon. She is determined that Gordon will marry Lucille. Effie plans to decorate No. 1 as a surprise for Albert. Annie accuses Maggie of pushing Gordon into jilting Lucille. When Ken complains about Val's cooking she tells him to do it himself.

Len and Audrey row with Gordon over his treatment of Lucille. Effie starts to decorate No. 1. Ken proves to Val he's a good cook. Gordon makes Lucille see he hasn't changed his mind and refuses to take the ring back. Lucille strikes back by painting the town.

Lucille gives up "The Pink Posy" to work at the Betting Shop. Albert hates Effie's decorations. Elsie feels upset when Dave plans to take another woman out to the dogs. Albert refuses to stay at No. 1. Reverend James holds a community meeting and discovers no one wants to help anyone. Lucille shocks everyone by going out with Dave.

Dave reveals he took Lucille out to show her the ropes. Albert decides to stay and puts Effie's rent up because of the decorations but she presents him with a decorating bill. Elsie tells Dave that Lucille is after him. Ken gives up the cooking when he exhausts the housekeeping. Reverend James and Emily return from the Amateur Dramatics to find the side chapel ransacked.

Emily pays the residents 10/- an hour to clean up the mess so as to restore Reverend James' faith in Coronation Street. Albert stays at No.3 rather than speak to Effie. Dave takes Lucille out to teach her a lesson. Effie invites Alice to live with her at No. 1.

Lucille shows off a new bracelet. Word spreads that it was a gift from Dave. Hilda jeers at Elsie over Dave and Elsie fights her in the Street. Alice moves in with Effie. Dave calls Lucille's bluff and makes her see sense. Effie tells Albert she's leaving. Elsie tells Len a man is following her.

Elsie gets worried about the mysterious man. Ken gets Gordon to drink in the Rovers. Alice explains how Effie has gone to live with her niece. Alice moves her mynah bird Kitchener into No.1. The Street is blacked out. Albert throws Alice out and dumps her stuff on the Street. A terrified Elsie listens as someone tries to enter No. 11.

The Barlows take Alice in. Len catches Arthur Green taking notes in the Street and discovers he's a Private Detective. Reverend James makes Albert feel ashamed over his behaviour towards Alice. He tells Alice she can return but she moves in with Minnie. Ray tells Minnie the OAP clubhouse is being demolished to make a space for a car park. Elsie gets a phone call from a Lillian Smith telling her Dave is married - to her.

Dave avoids Elsie. The Ogdens go walking in the country but end up waiting on a disused station. The pensioners boycott Albert's Easter Monday coach trip to Bury to visit the Fusiliers' Museum. Gordon thinks of moving away.

Stan and Hilda return on a milk float, tired and worn out, much to the amusement of Len and Ray. The pensioners decide to meet in the Rovers to decide on their form of protest. A saddened Maggie tells Len that Gordon's decided to work at the head office in London. An angry Elsie catches up with Dave and tears into him for not telling her he's married. He tells her Lillian's coming up from London. Elsie doesn't know why she rang her. Hilda is annoyed when Annie gives her work for the day to Alice when she claims she's. Ena, Minnie, Alice and Albert form an OAP action ...

The pensioners meet in the OAP Clubhouse to plan their march and a petition. Dickie and Audrey worry about Minnie taking part. Len tells Elsie he believes her when she says there was nothing between Dave and her. Stan and Hilda ask Ken's advice about the tax demand. Ken tells him that he can appeal against it and the Inland Revenue will probably reduce the sum claimed. Stan doesn't want Ken seeing his financial affairs. Dave tells Lillian that if she drops the co-respondent claim within the divorce things could be better for her. To raise money, Stan takes a job as ...

Len tells Elsie that Ena only got a caution. Elsie worries that her name will get in the papers over the divorce. The OAPs meet in the OAP Clubhouse to discuss next steps and Ena insists they're going to have a sit-in to stop the bulldozers doing their job. Ray enjoys winding up Dave about how much the divorce is going to cost him. Dickie and Audrey collect supplies for the pensioners from the Rovers. Dave fetches Lillian from the pub to discuss business. The pensioners start to prepare to bed down for the night, preventing Ray from collecting a washbasin he's already...

After a successful night, the OAPs are in no mood to give up. Ray offers to contribute to their "fighting fund" in return for the washbasin. Ena refuses. Reggie James asks Emily to get the pensioners to the vicarage so he can mediate. She gets bottles from the Rovers to entice them out. Lillian offers to pay Hilda for information about Elsie. They agree to meet later. Annie is appalled that Hilda would stoop so low. Elsie needs to speak to Len but he's gone on holiday. Emily goes through the police lines but Ena refuses to leave the clubhouse and invites her inside ...

Annie discovers the brewery is holding a 'Perfect Landlady' competition. Dave tells Val to keep out of his business. Maggie tells Lilian that if Dave were to die, Elsie would get the lot. The OAPs win their fight and the clubhouse is saved. Lillian agrees on more money from Dave each week, and no divorce. Annie drives the customers mad with niceness. Elsie refuses to pick up again with Dave. Ray asks a delighted Annie if they can nominate her for the competition.

Annie collects signatures for the 'Perfect Landlady' competition. Dickie skives off tech. The Flemings row as Ray spends time with Audrey. Dickie meets a girl called Sandra at an amusement arcade. She tells him that she could get him a job on £25 a week, repairing the machines. Annie installs a suggestion box in the Rovers. Val has trouble with her knee. Bill Blakeley offers Dickie a job at the arcade.

Annie gives Hilda a sixpence an hour rise to win her support for the 'Perfect Landlady' competition. Bill Blakeley sacks engineer Ron and takes Dickie on. Val bangs her knee. The suggestions are read out but Annie decides on one of her own. Dickie decides not to tell Audrey about the job.

Val confides in Elsie that the doctor says she's in need of a knee operation. Ray and Lucille see Dickie at the arcade. Annie covers the pub in old Lancashire memorabilia. Elsie tells Ken about Val's knee. Annie installs clogs and miners' lamps. Lucille tells Audrey of Dickie's job. Dickie has to face up to rough customers. Jack upsets Annie by getting in clog dancers.

Hilda and Ray gang up on Stan to get him working more. Ken wants Val to have a private operation. Audrey gets upset as Dickie doesn't mention the arcade. Elsie takes Audrey to the arcade to see Dickie. Ken sells his car. Dickie wins Audrey over by giving her the £25. Val is angry when Ken invites her mother, Edith Tatlock, to stay over the operation period.

Val goes into hospital. Edith Tatlock arrives and she approves of the maisonette. Ray gets Connie Robinson to pose as a pub landlady and ropes Ena and Elsie in to con Annie into starting an organist and hotpot. Annie suspects Connie is a fake and makes everyone pay half a crown for the salty hotpots. Edith feels that the Street is not right for the Barlows.

Ena helps out in the shop with Val in hospital. Audrey starts spending too much. Ena tells Dickie that dignity is more important than money. Audrey spends over £200 on hire purchase. Brewery rep Mr Bracegirdle gets drunk and flirts with Annie. Jack throws him out.

Audrey celebrates her eighteenth birthday. Dickie buys her a mod watch. Edith offers Ken financial help towards a house. Val returns from hospital. Ray buys Audrey her first legal drink in the Rovers. Edith takes the Barlows round a show house. Val doesn't want to leave the Street, no matter what plans Edith has for the executive family. Dickie is threatened by thugs at the arcade.

Dickie is too frightened to go to work. He tells Ray how Eddie Goulden wants him to fix the machines for him. Annie gets depressed as she receives no post from the Brewery. Audrey tells Dickie he's not to go back to the arcade but he reminds her of the £200 on hire purchase. Ena tries to get Len to get the arcade closed but he refuses. Annie gets a telegram telling her she's won the competition. Jack refuses the prize of a trip to Majorca; he's not flying. Audrey warns Eddie with the police if he touches Dickie. Val asks for her job back at the shop but Maggie tells ...

Dickie decides to fix the machines for Eddie Goulden. Emily tells Ray that Len is drawing more money than usual on expenses. The Ogdens plan a Bank Holiday bring-a-bottle party. Elsie persuades Dickie to stick firm with the promise of Ray as a heavy. The rain ruins Stan's barbeque. Bill Blakeley gives Dickie the sack because he's an easy touch.

Edith is too much for Val to cope with. Dickie gets a job on a building site, labouring for £14 a week. Elsie makes the Flemings realise there's no future in it. Edith takes Peter and Susan to Belle Vue fair. Len is £50 overdrawn at the Yard. Loveday takes Dickie back onto his apprenticeship. Edith loses Peter and Susan at the fairground.

A frantic Val waits at home while Ken goes to the fairground to search for the twins. Maggie receives a visit from her sister Betty Turpin. Ray grows concerned about Len's money troubles.

Hilda wonders what Cyril Turpin does for a living but no one's met him yet. An amused Lucille returns the library books - "Beer Brewing for Beginners" and "How to Make Your First Million" - after Stan "loses" them in Dave Smith's Betting Shop, aware of what he's up to as they were taken out on 9 July 1964 and she knows that he could be in for a hefty fine and a court appearance. Val's good night's sleep hasn't improved her temper but she tells Ken she will try not to take offence at anything that Edith says. She finds her resolve tested when her mother makes comments ...

Minnie has received a postcard from Ena saying she's returning at 10.00am, a week early, and gets supplies in. Hilda tries to spread gossip about Edith but Betty knows more than her on the subject. Minnie alarms Jack by saying that Annie is also returning. Cyril tells Stan that there will just be a fine on the books, no other prosecution, but his bike outside the front of the house has several illegal things wrong with it. He goes on to annoy Len and Ray when he points out the state of the yard's gate lock and van. Ena returns, full of complaints about Majorca, but ...

Emily tries to get Hilda to help more in the Rovers in Annie's absence but she refuses while Betty's behind the bar. Emily tells Ena she doesn't like their deception and hopes that she's wrong about the contents of the letter. Betty makes breakfast for a grateful Jack and suggests he takes the morning off with a game of bowls and also the afternoon to watch cricket. Val tells Elsie that she and Ken are at loggerheads over Edith. Elsie buys a birthday card for Paul's eighth birthday. Jack is annoyed when Len says he can't get shut of Elsie. Ray takes Betty on at darts....

Emily hides Annie's postcard to Lucille from Jack when it arrives at the Rovers. He wonders why she hasn't written. He almost catches Ena and Emily talking about him. Elsie is down after hearing Len's news. Not knowing the reason behind it, Jack hears about her depression from Hilda's gossip and he goes to see Elsie. Annoyed with Len, he wants to tell him it was Elsie's money he was given. Elsie tells him about Len's proposed engagement to a girl named Janet Reid who he met at the Town Hall where she works. Elsie persuades Jack not to say anything as she thinks Len ...

Ray becomes concerned when Len avoids work to wallow in self-pity over losing Janet. Ted challenges Betty to a darts match in the Rovers. Ernest offers Ena a room above his shop.

In an effort to find where Elsie has gone, Lucille breaks into No. 11 and finds a piece of paper with a Scarborough phone number on it. She gives it to Ray. Emily finishes at the playgroup, and tells Jack she can't work behind the bar any more. Jack tells Ray of a building job at the Brewery but tells him they won't employ the Yard because of the incident over Jerry's accident three years before. Ray phones the number - it's Sheila Crossley's. Sheila lies to him and tells him that she hasn't seen Elsie. Emily and Ena decide to tell Jack about Annie. Jack gets a ...

Ray trades in Stan's bike for a handcart. Stan tries to be dominant with Hilda after seeing the Turpins in action. Jack gets another telegram saying Annie's returning with a man. Ena tells Maggie she won't be able to help out anymore. Len turns up at Sheila's. Len apologises to Elsie but she tells him that she's sick of them. She tells him that she's got another fella. Maggie tells Betty she does not want her help at the shop as Val is her assistant. Ray tells Lucille he's nearly clinched a deal with the Brewery. Ena and Emily tell Jack of Annie's affair.

Annie returns from Majorca with Douglas Cresswell of Newton and Ridley. Annie explains to Jack that she was helping Douglas out at the Brewery hotel, and that was what was in the letter. Elsie returns to the Street but refuses to speak to Len. Annie tells Jack of Douglas' proposal for them to go and live in Majorca running a pub. They have two weeks to decide. Annie is furious with Ena and Emily, and plays along. Ray gets the Brewery deal and tells Lucille he wants it for himself, not Len. Len hears about the contract and is delighted.

The Walkers pretend their marriage is over for Emily's benefit. Ray tells Lucille he's setting up business on his own. Len takes the news badly and throws Ray out of No. 9. Maggie stands up to Betty and plans a night on the town with Elsie. Annie asks Ena and Emily to read her letter.

Jack has misgivings about starting again in Majorca. Elsie refuses to let Ray be her lodger. Ena and Emily read the letter. Emily feels ashamed and argues with Ena who feels no guilt over the situation. Minnie tells Ernie that Ena wants the Camera Shop Flat inspected for rats before she moves in. Len sells his van for £300 to a friend of Ken's. The residents wonder if Ena will brave the Rovers again. Emily tells Annie that it's best for her to leave the Rovers. Emily helps Ernie decorate the Camera Shop Flat but Minnie warns them that Ena won't like the wallpaper they're putting up. Maggie warns Lucille that Len is planning to shop Ray. Ena inspects the flat, telling Ernie that she likes the wallpaper and she picked it herself. Dickie encourages Audrey to go out with Ray thinking he will cheer her up but she feels uneasy about it and asks Elsie's advice. Emily shows Ena a photograph of her that Ernie has taken for a competition. Ena tells Alice Pickins when Albert is visiting her so she can drop in and grab him for a day out. Albert isn't pleased. Dickie celebrates his twentieth birthday. Lucille helps out Ray at his yard without telling Len. Hilda finds the £50 in Stan's trouser pocket and demands to know where he got it from. Annie worries that Jack's medical let them down. Emily advises her to ask the brewery outright. Councillor Farnsworth asks Elsie to talk to Len but she refuses. Albert is put to bed at No. 1 with two bruised ribs and a broken arm. Ena and Emily get drunk at the ceremony to collect the prize for Ernie's photo of Ena. Hilda takes charge of the suit lengths from Stan and tries to sell them off to get rid of them. Annie gets it into her head that Jack is ill and could die on her. To please her he goes to the doctor. Ena hears noises in the night at the studio. Doctor Mackay clears Jack. Alice becomes an ungrateful Albert's resident nurse. Annie doesn't believe Jack when he reports what the doctor told him. Jack gets tired of Annie's fussing. She goes to the doctors to satisfy herself as to Jack's condition. Doctor Mackay puts her mind at rest. Hilda sells the suit lengths to Ray for £1 each. Cyril tells the Ogdens he only wanted to buy the cloth and buys one off Ray for £5. He tells the Ogdens that the stolen cloth was found in a pigeon loft in Napier Street and they realise they've lost out on a lot of money. Stan spends all his money on drink and discovers he has to find Elsie's £50 by the weekend. Betty refuses to accept the sack and carries on working. Ena is disturbed by Cliff Stone watching her in the Rovers. The Barlows return from Scotland and refuse to take over from Alice in looking after Albert. Elsie cheerfully lets Stan find the money in as much time as he needs but, not knowing this, Hilda slags her off to her face so she changes her mind and demands £5 a week. Ena tells Albert he needs someone to look after him permanently or he'll end up in an OAP home. ...

Cliff Stone tells Ena he's after his £74 savings under the floorboards which he left there when he was employed in the premises when it was a junk shop. Ena keeps the money, telling him he can have it in the morning. Alice tells Albert she has to go - for the sake of their good names. Stan tells Emily he wants to be a street photographer and she takes him on with extreme reluctance after he continually badgers her. Ena gets Cyril to join her in the flat for when Stone will come back for the money but he fails to turn up and later Cyril picks him up in the Waggon and ...

Albert and Alice plan their wedding. Ray tells Dave he needs £1,700 for the contract. Alice demands a new wedding ring off Albert, even though he thinks she should use her old one to save money. Len and Cyril set about finding Cliff Stone's family. A delighted Val agrees to be Alice's matron of honour. Len finds Stone's children in a Church home. Annie returns from several days away at Joan's and is not pleased to see that Betty is still behind the bar. Hilda ruins Stan's trousers trying to get the stain out.
