Mike is puzzled by Don Watkins' figures about the club, it seems that business is bad. Fred starts to sell raffle tickets at £1 each. The hospital in Southport contacts Ivy and tells her that Bert is dying. She rushes to be with him. Gail tries to contact Brian but he's on a job. Brian returns from attending to an accident - he rushes to the hospital on hearing the news. Watkins' girlfriend, Judi Spencer, tells Mike that he's got a cabin cruiser at Abersoch. The Weatherfield Recorder runs the story of Stan's big toe, carrying a blown-up picture of the toe in question. Hilda is horrified and accuses Ken of making Stan a laughing stock. Hilda allows Stan to go to the Rovers. The regulars take the mickey out of him and his toe. Emily tells Mike that Don Watkins has fiddled £6,000 out of the stock. Mike can't believe he's been so stupid. Alf assures Rita he intends to help her all he can. Mike tells Alec Yardley about Watkins' swindling. Hilda employs a solicitor, Mr Melia, to help her sue the council. He is confident that the council will settle out of court. Mike wants Don Watkins to go to prison but Alec Yardley wants to find him himself and tells Mike he'll give him all he's owed. Yardley offers to buy Mike out of the club and Mike agrees to this.
