A landmark series set in an ethnically diverse urban neighborhood where every day is a sunny one. It features songs, skits, animation and, of course, Muppets to teach preschoolers basic educational and social concepts.

A red ball follows a rollercoaster-like track through checkpoints (each, a set of three) that are counted in voiceover. At the end, the ball is ground up into a powder.

Jack waters a B, which grows into a B-stalk. He climbs it and travels to the Land of B.

Grover climbs up the Sesame Street sign and observes how different the street looks from this new perspective. He then finds he's unable to get himself down.

As Bob welcomes the viewers, Sesame Street is suddenly beset with an outburst of jackhammers and roaring compressors. Maria and Tom come by and see that workmen are fixing the street, and they complain about the noise. Oscar pops up wearing a hard hat and says he's heading to where they're digging, not wanting to miss all the noise, dirt and mess.

Gordon comes to Hooper's Store for a glass of water, but Mr. Hooper reports a problem - the faucet has been dispensing dirty, rusty water all day. Tom is in the midst of finding the issue.

Tom greets the viewer, when he hears the sound of a fire engine - Song "Fireman Ready to Go". Inspired by the sight of the firemen, Big Bird has decided to become one too.

Molly has finished her shift for the day and relaxes on the stoop. She muses about when she gets the chance to take a vacation, she'd like to go out west to a ranch, with wide open spaces and horses to ride on instead of walking. She imagines herself on the Lazy F Ranch, where she's greeted by a cowpoke (Big Bird) who points her toward the stable. The head wrangler (Oscar) turns her away (he's one of the bad guys) and suggests she do some walking instead. Back in reality, Molly remarks that she should go to the beach instead. A boy is on his way to school. Rafael asks the younger kids what they know about school and they spell the word. Cartoon includes Jack-in-the-Box School. Muppets Ernie and Bert - Ernie lies in bed and starts talking about what a square looks like and how many lines it has, then goes on to compare a square with a triangle. He then starts to ponder how many sides a circle has, and goes to sleep. Bert is about to attempt to answer the question, but ends up not being able to sleep.

Molly comes to pick up the mail from the Sesame Street mailbox. She explains how this works to Marty, who never knew how the mail process went. After she goes through the work of opening the mailbox, collecting the letters, filling her bag, and closing the mailbox, Marty puts a letter of his own inside. He apologizes, not realizing he could have just handed it to her. Molly goes through the process again, then once more when Tom mails a letter. Finally, Big Bird comes out with a letter, but Molly quickly grabs it and stuffs it deep in her bag. Big Bird points out that...

Tom is bored because there hasn't been a single customer at Hooper's Store all morning. He acts out having one by rushing back and forth from behind the counter, making a drink for himself. He then realizes he's left the front door sign on "CLOSED." He flips it to "OPEN" and Gordon stops in. Film "I Am a Letter" - Vocalists sing a song describing the process of how mail is sent.

Gordon hangs from the fire escape ladder and clues the viewer into the number of the day by counting his hands. He hangs in the air for a moment before falling to the ground.

Things move in fast motion on Sesame Street, then in slow motion. When things return to regular speed, Susan introduces - Film George the Farmer demonstrates fast and slow by going back and forth on a fence, and in a rocking chair. Muppets A Muppet inchworm and a bug sing "The Inch Worm" in a field of flowers. Film Jerry Nelson counts 20 backflips performed by a monkey. Big Bird finds a wallet on the ground with Gordon's name in it. He assumes he lost it, so he'll return it to him right away. But he immediately wonders if Gordon thinks that someone might have stolen his wallet, and how angry he would be about it. Big Bird imagines Gordon with a top hat and sinister facial hair sitting in a darkened room with Rafael, plotting to hire his henchman Nasty Norman to track down his wallet and take care of whoever stole it.

Mr. Hooper welcomes the viewer, then introduces "the world's foremost expert on the alphabet..." Celebrity-Pat Paulsen says the alphabet.

Oscar's trash can is surrounded with various bags of trash. Tom tells the viewer that today is trash collection day and alerts Oscar of this as well. Oscar starts digging through the refuse and sings "I Love Trash" in celebration. SCENE 2 As Oscar examines his trash, Gordon complains about the mess he's made and claims not everyone likes trash the way he does. Oscar imagines a world where everyone loves trash, which means nobody throws anything away for him to keep. When Oscar snaps back, he thanks Gordon and Tom for being the way they are, rendering them confused. ...

As we come closer and closer, David asks if we know the difference between here and there. A talking tree tells a boy about the difference between here and there, near and far, and close and next to.

Molly delivers noisy packages to Mr. Hooper and the kids guess what's inside--clocks, baby rattles, and a talking mama doll. Molly says she can't guess what's in the last package, because it is the quietest. Mr. Hooper opens it and says no, it's the noisiest of them all: his transistor radio. Muppets- Two Anything Muppet boys are in the park, playing hide and seek. One hides while the other says the alphabet. Unfortunately, he doesn't know the whole alphabet, so he asks for help when he gets stuck. The other boy has to come out of his hiding place to help him finish ...

Gordon and others are bothered by the sight of litter all over the sidewalk. Bob offhandedly comments that anyone who can prevent people from littering would be a hero, inspiring Big Bird to take up such a task. C is for clipper - and captain, crew, cargo, cookies, cantaloupe, cabbage, candy, cake, and corks that the crew eats (some by mistake).

Grover carries a satchel and wears a postal carrier's hat as he approaches Molly to inform her that he plans to pursue her chosen career path. Molly explains that it's tough work, lots of walking and carrying heavy things, but Grover is convinced that despite his cuteness, he is also strong. She decides to let him give it a try by tasking him with delivering a few items.

Gordon goes to Hooper's Store and buys eleven carrots. Muppets Muppet Hands count to 11. Cartoon P is for Puppy Muppets Ernie and Bert - Ernie's doctor comes over. Ernie keeps trying to tell the doctor why he called him, but the doctor is too occupied with checking on Ernie, hardly allowing him to get a word in edgewise.

Gordon points out to the viewer that there aren't any cars parked along the street because of the sign reading "No Parking" in the area. Oscar becomes inspired by the power a simple "no" sign has and starts scheming.

David greets the viewer, and gives a lesson in subtraction using his feet. Cartoon-Train #2 Film Topi antelopes nod "yes." Music by Joe Raposo Cartoon-A man carves a YES and puts it on display.

Gordon and the kids imagine threes of different things they don't usually count on the street. Oscar can't stand hearing their discussion, but unwittingly does three of something - put out his "DO NOT DISTURB" sign, put on his earmuffs and go inside his can.

Maria greets the viewer, and hears Oscar throwing trash out of his trash can, which puts him in a musical mood. He sings "I Love Trash", and Maria begins putting the trash back into his can.

Luis, Susan and the Kids sing "We've All Got to Work Together" while cleaning the street. Oscar doesn't believe they can do it, but they succeed. Oscar even helps by taking a big pile of trash into his can. Muppets Ernie and Bert - Part 1: Ernie, having set up shop as a barber, gives Bert a haircut, but he ends up removing all of his hair.

Maria greets the viewer, while quietly reading a book. Oscar, meanwhile, practices for a yelling contest, which bothers Maria. She repeatedly tells him to stop, and Oscar is impressed with her loud yelling. Cartoon-Jasper thinks that he has lost his elbow, but Julius shows him his elbow by bending his arm. At Hooper's Store, Mr. Hooper climbs up and down the ladder to get balloons off the top shelf for customers. Muppets-Bert sings the club song for The National Association of W Lovers. Film "Seven Song (Song of Seven)"

Maria shows the viewer what the Sesame Street sign looks like without its E's. Cartoon-A man saws a letter E through the wall. Muppets-Cookie Monster and Ernie: During Ernie's naptime, Cookie Monster tries to steal and eat Ernie's pillow by distracting him with a bell. Luis and some kids notice a broken vase with a baseball next to it. They find Big Bird wearing a baseball glove and holding a bat, and question him on the broken vase. Big Bird imagines that a clown (Gordon) was juggling baseballs, then that a carnival barker (Bob) used the vase as a decoy for a ...

Gordon demonstrates up and down by showing how Oscar lifts his trash can lid whenever he comes up and goes down. Cartoon-Boy and the UP balloons Muppets Lefty's boss makes sure Lefty knows the alphabet.

Susan explains to Luis, in his first day on the job, how to stack and count sacks that come off an assembly line. Film "Ten Song (Song of Ten)" Muppets-Waiter Grover: Mr. Johnson wants a bowl of hot alphabet soup, and he really wants it to be hot. He looks to make sure that each letter of the alphabet is in his soup, but he is missing some. By the time Grover brings in all the missing letters, the soup is cold.

Big Bird and Grover play hide-and-seek. Grover is "it" but he keeps forgetting what number comes next and has to get help from Big Bird, who's trying to hide. He reaches 10 and finds Big Bird right away. Muppets-The Martians find a telephone. Cartoon-Henson: Eleven Cheer.

Luis finishes fixing a mirror frame, and invites some kids to look into the mirror and make different faces. Luis's reflection, however, has a mind of its own.

At Hooper's Store, Big Bird tells David that he's been practicing adding and subtracting. A new kid in the neighborhood, Alex (nickname "Smart Alex") approaches and asks for an orange. Big Bird tries to solve the subtraction problem, but Alex beats him to it. Big Bird worries that David might like "Smart Alex" better than him.

Bob welcomes the viewer to Sesame Street, pointing out how nice it is to be together with friends. Celebrity-Listen My Brother sings "Togetherness Song." Film-Four Song (Song of Four)

Susan engages Big Bird, John-John, and Shola in a guessing game on the steps of 123 Sesame Street. Matching items to the words they rhyme with, Susan says the last item in the box rhymes with "big". Big Bird asks if it could be a pig - Baby pigs run in a field, and drink their mother's milk.

Bob greets the viewer while pushing Debo on the tire swing. He asks the other kids around if they have any older or younger siblings, then gauges how old each of them are (as well as the viewers). He then imagines what it was like when he turned six years old.

Outside the Fix-it Shop, Luis welcomes the viewer while putting tacks into a coffee can. He leaves for the bank, and Big Bird and Mr. Snuffleupagus find the coffee can. Snuffy thinks it's a perfect thing to keep his crayons in, but he accidentally knocks it over. Big Bird gets the idea to find Luis and tell him the truth about the accident.

Maria paints shapes on a plexiglass screen - a square, a triangle and a rectangle - then obscures the entire screen. Cartoon-B is for bubbles, bubbles and more bubbles. And Bosco, who is taking a bath.

Big Bird encounters his friends collecting empty bottles to be recycled, and offers to help out. Cartoon-A man creates an avalanche on the letter A. Artist: Cliff Roberts. Big Bird brings some bottles over, but learns that they can't be recycled because they are full. His friends help themselves to some soda, making the bottles empty.

Big Bird demonstrates the difference between fast and slow with his toy box: first, he dumps the toys on the ground and picks them up one by one (slow). Then, he dumps them out again, and they all go back into the toy box themselves with a reverse-tape edit (fast).

While some kids play softball in the arbor, Maria introduces the letter H. She joins in the game, and points out the words "hit" and "home run". Cartoon "Poverty H"

David greets the viewer, then encounters Maria. She pantomimes that she has lost her voice because there's something wrong with her throat, that she has gone to see a doctor, and that the doctor told her not to talk until tomorrow.

Big Bird encounters Tom leading David, Susan and some kids in a jumping jacks exercise. Big Bird looks tired, but still thinks he can join them. Tom demonstrates Up/Down, Fast/Faster, and the Body Parts. Big Bird falls asleep while all this is going on.

As Big Bird walks down Sesame Street, he notices that it's getting darker. When the thunder and lightning starts, he thinks its fireworks and music and assume someone is having a party, but Bob tells him he ought to plan on getting out of the rain soon.

Molly delivers a package to Oscar from his pal, Melvin Grouch. It contains a crummy hat and a crumpled piece of paper with a grouchy poem on it. In return, Oscar sends Melvin a stale, mangy piece of old cake and accompanies it with his own poem.

To show the letters of the day, Tom curves his body into a C shape and an L shape.

Big Bird is feeling a little gloomy when he greets Luis and Rafael on the street. He feels that he's not very special, but Rafael says that he's the most beautiful yellow bird he's ever seen. As he begins to talk about how many friends Big Bird has, Rafael whispers to Luis and the two depart, promising to return shortly.

Gordon presents the letters U and P, and explains that they spell UP. The UP lifts itself up into the air. Cartoon-A dog learns about U.

Oscar is tired of his trash can being in one place all the time. He wants a change of view and decides to move. Cartoon The great Alphonso and his trained X's. SCENE 2-Oscar sets up his can at the top of the steps in front of 123 Sesame Street. Luis bumps into him, and warns him that his can could be knocked down the steps if he stays there. Oscar agrees to move somewhere else.

Tom opens Hooper's Store and remembers he forgot to clean up last night before closing. He counts eight dirty glasses on the counter that he has to wash.

Luis, Gordon and the Kids are greeted by the sound of a siren coming from Oscar's trash can. While Oscar is in love with the sound, everyone insists that he cut out the racket. A police car passes, Oscar wants to know why policemen can have a siren and he can't. Luis explains why, and Oscar decides to become a policeman.

Today, Rafael and Luis open up their new Fix-It Shop, and Big Bird wants to give them a gift. So he puts on various disguises and acquires all the free flashlights they are giving the customers, just so he can give them back as a gift.

Susan needs her broken picture frame repaired and heads toward the library to find a book regarding frame repairs. She discovers the library has now been converted into the "L and R Fix-It Shop," manned by Luis and Rafael. Susan realizes she no longer needs a book - the new business can take care of her broken frame. The two provide Susan with a free flashlight, a gift to all new customers on their grand opening day.

Mr. MacIntosh gives Big Bird an ear of corn, but Big Bird doesn't see it as corn because it's green, and corn is supposed to be yellow. Gordon explains to Big Bird that the yellow pieces on a corncob are called kernels, and the outside green part is called the husk.

Big Bird is bored because he has nothing to do. He asks everyone he meets - Maria, David and Bob - if he can help them to do something, and they all decline his offer. Muppets-Sherlock Hemlock investigates the letter N.

Mr. Hooper, wearing a circus ringmaster's top hat and cape, tries to balance four cans at a time. Cartoon-Donnie Budd counts four lions. Artist: Bud Luckey. Muppets-Four Anything Muppet cheerleaders give four big cheers for the number 4.

Maria greets the viewer, then teaches the Verbena game to Big Bird and the kids. The game reminds Big Bird of "London Bridge". Song- "1-2-3-4-5!"

Tom greets the viewer, then visits Oscar, who is in the middle of putting a lock on his trash can -- but he forgets his key, and locks himself out.

David (who just finished reading a book), a kid (who has just finished a jigsaw puzzle) and Tom (who has a basketball, but must remain in Hooper's Store) each exchange what they have for something that they'd like to have.

Luis shows that four kids have their hands up in the air to represent the letter of the day: V. He also counts their hands, which add up to 8, the number of the day.

Oscar retreats back into his can upon seeing the viewer has arrived. A large Muppet youngster carries in a large sack of bricks past, when he notices part of a discarded trike in Oscar's trash pile. He sets down the bricks, creating a loud crash. Oscar pops out and asks who's responsible. The boy introduces himself as Tough Eddie and asks who the trike wheel belongs to. Oscar tells him to buzz off and get rid of these bricks, which he can't move himself. Eddie lifts them up with ease and takes umbrage to the rude way Oscar speaks to him. He promises to return to ...

Big Bird sees a chair has been set upside down in the yard. Tom explains he did that in order to paint its bottom. Big Bird envisions what the street would be like if everything were upside down. In his fantasy, Sesame Street becomes Upside Down Street, where he's the only thing right side up. This makes it hard for him to get birdseed from Hooper's Store, however.

Cookie Monster is confronted with a dripping faucet in Susan's kitchen. In an attempt to remedy the situation, Cookie first tries stuffing the faucet with a banana. When this fails, he tries placing a pot under the faucet, which only results in amplifying the dripping. Cookie places a dishrag in the pot, which reduces the noise, but he still doesn't like the idea of wasting water. The solution finally occurs to him -- he'll stand under the faucet and drink the dripping water. Susan returns, and with a firm twist of the faucet, she ends the dripping. Cookie is ...

Kids are busy drawing with crayons outdoors. When a stiff breeze begins to blow the papers about, Tom suggests that the kids come into his store to play. Once inside, the kids decide to play catch. Tom suggests that the store isn't the best place to play catch. The kids agree and go outside. Tom observes that there are some things that it's better to do inside and some things it's better to do outside.

Luis must leave the Fix-It Shop for a while, and asks Big Bird to mind the store for him; he's to take whatever customers bring in, and have them put their name on it. Molly brings her kettle to be fixed, and Mr. Hooper brings in his radio. Big Bird decides to surprise Luis, and fix both the kettle and the radio.

Big Bird notices a line outside Hooper's Store where he asks Tom what's going on. Tom explains that the store has been set up as a vaccination clinic today and Susan has volunteered some time away from her nursing job to help out. Big Bird meets Dr. Marzullo who's administering the measles shot, and gets in line behind the kids to get one of his own.

Big Bird welcomes the viewer, then shows Rafael, Mr. Hooper and some kids his bag of letters, mentioning that whatever letter he picks out will be the letter of the day. He pulls out the letter D, then reveals that the bag is full of D's.

Big Bird sings about "The Sound of the Letter A." Cartoon-"The Story of A": A witch tells bored kids a story about the letter A involving an ant's apple getting stolen by an archer. Muppets-A hippie lines up a group of monsters to demonstrate first and last, but a monster doesn't want to be last in line. The hippie compromises and lets him be first - but the line keeps changing directions.

Big Bird finds a Muppet boy sobbing on the street. He says he's lost and can't find his way back home. Big Bird offers to help and proposes he come live in his nest, but the boy doesn't like this idea. Animation- The Queen of Six explores her garden. Big Bird now suggests the boy go home and tell his mommy he's lost, then she can help him; the boy points out how illogical this is. Big Bird's next bright idea is to mail the boy back home in an envelope. As he runs off to get what he needs, Gordon and Bob approach the boy. He tells them he lives at 456 Dilly Street and ...

Pete Seeger pays another visit to the street, where he plays "Seek and You Shall Find." Between choruses, he tells a riddle. Big Bird tries one as well, which isn't as good as Pete's. Muppets Ernie and Bert - Ernie comes from finishing his bath, and tells Bert that there's something that he forgot. Bert asks if he's washed behind his ears, his neck, and his elbows. Finally, Ernie remembers that he forgot to turn off the water in the tub -- as the water level rises. Cartoon Speech Balloon: L for Light.

Big Bird holds a softball, waiting for Tom and Rafael to bring a bat and baseball gloves so they can play. Mr. Snuffleupagus comes along, and Big Bird invites his friend to play. Cartoon- P is for Puppy. While in Big Bird's nest area, Snuffy throws the ball over the doors, and can't figure out how to get it back. Rafael and Tom approach from the outside and find the ball, assuming Big Bird left it there for them. They lean against the doors and wait for Big Bird, when Snuffy taps Rafael on the shoulder with his snuffle. Rafael assumes Tom tapped him, which Tom denies....

Oscar tells Susan that he's hired someone to cook Grouch food. Cookie Monster arrives, dressed in a chef's hat. Cartoon Letter U salesman. Cartoon- "Martian Beauty" has nine hairs, nine bows, nine eyes, nine nostrils, nine arms, and nine toes. Artist: Bud Luckey.

Today, Cookie Monster steps on a roller skate, tumbles down the steps of 123 Sesame Street, and all of a sudden can no longer remember anything about himself. His concerned friends do everything they can to revive his memory.

Big Bird says hello to the viewer, then introduces us to Snuffy. Snuffy says goodbye, because he's going home to a big bowl of spaghetti, his favorite food. When Snuffy leaves, Molly enters and gives Big Bird his mail, not believing his "Snuffleupagus" claim. Muppets-Two children, who can only read some words, resolve their fight over a large book by helping each other and reading alternate words.

Grover greets the viewer from Big Bird's nest, where he's hanging out with the kids. He tells them to count and he will stop them once they reach the number of the day - 12.

Bob drags his old carpet sweeper to the Fix-It Shop. He fears it's too old to even repair. He accidentally bumps into Oscar's trash can, eliciting the typical grouchy responses from Oscar. He likes Bob's carpet sweeper and says he'd do anything for it. Bob promises he can have it, as long as he asks nice all morning.

There are three plants of the same species on the ground: one small, one medium, and one big. Bob appears with a box labeled "Fast Grow Plant Food". He sprinkles some on the little plant, and it promptly grows to become the biggest plant.

Molly welcomes the viewers and tells them that she heard the weather report -- there's going to be a big rainstorm. She warns everyone that the rain is coming, and they get ready for the storm. David brings his laundry in, Big Bird and Chris put their checkerboard away, and Tom lowers the awning at Hooper's Store. Lightning flashes in the sky; the storm is approaching.

Big Bird welcomes the viewer to Sesame Street, and introduces Mr. Snuffleupagus, who promises to stay put until Big Bird brings his friends over.

After being pestered by Ernie to play checkers with him, Bert decides to leave the apartment. However, the alternatives he find from Oscar and Big Bird don't go so well, so he decides that maybe living with Ernie's not too bad after all.

Herry Monster is drinking an ice cream soda at Hooper's Store. Ferris comments how slowly Herry drinks it. Herry doesn't know the difference between fast and slow, so Ferris teaches him. He drinks the rest of Herry's beverage in one fast slurp. Herry hopes Ferris can run just as fast and chases him out of the store.

Harvey Kneeslapper stands behind the newsstand at Hooper's Store, preparing to play a joke on some residents of Sesame Street. When Tom comes by, Harvey says, "I'm glad to zee ya" and slaps a letter Z on his back. He repeats the gag with David, barely containing his laughter. He attempts the same with Maria, but at the last second, Tom and David yell for her to duck; Harvey misses and plants the Z on his own forehead. Tom and David have a good laugh, but Harvey doesn't find it funny at all.

Molly tries to deliver mail to Oscar the Grouch, who doesn't enjoy receiving mail. He sings "The Grouch Song" to her. Cartoon-Karen the Kangaroo talks about words that start with the letter K. Featuring the sped-up voice of Gene Moss.

Big Bird sees Mr. Snuffleupagus is on the block and tells him to stay put while he tries finding someone to see him. However, everyone he asks (Tom, Maria, Oscar and Rafael) have no patience for any more of his talk about his imaginary friend. Big Bird becomes upset and convinces himself that Snuffy really is imaginary as everyone says. Snuffy tries to get his attention, but Big Bird retreats to his nest. Snuffy begins to sob.

Brother Kirk walks down Sesame Street singing "Hello" and greeting members of the neighborhood. Cartoon- A cat catches a TELEPHONE and eats it. Artists: The Hubleys

Big Bird witness some boys flying through the air and thinks they can really fly. Gordon introduces him to team leader Julio and the Bronx Boy's Club tumbling team. They're in the neighborhood looking for new members. Luis, seeing how they've just been warming up, asks to see a full trick.

Oscar informs Molly that he's trained somebody to fill in as the resident Grouch on Sesame Street while he goes downtown. He won't say who it is, leaving Molly curious.

Luis sings a Spanish folk song about cacti. Muppets-"J Friends"

Molly acts like a pitchman, giving away cards reading the word "YES." A Muppet boy successfully reads the word and she rewards him with the YES card while throwing in a free NO.

Ernie and Antonio enter the Fix-It Shop where Antonio and Luis greet each other in Spanish. Luis says that Antonio is carrying a "pajaro" in the box, and Ernie makes several guesses about what it could be in English. After several clues, he figures out that it's a bird and begins conversing with it in a series of tweets. After a brief exchange, he tells Luis that he didn't realize that the Antonio's bird spoke Spanish too.

Susan observes that today is a very cold day and believes it might even snow. Cartoon: "I in the Sky". Muppets-Muppet and Kid Moment - Cookie Monster and Genelle say the alphabet.

Susan, Bob, Luis and Maria are putting together a snowman. Big Bird observes the pictures they have of various snowmen to figure out which one they're going to build.

Luis and Tom are rushing to open their respective shops and bump into each other, dropping their keys. They pick them up, but a Muppet boy named Seth observes that both keys look alike - how can they know whose belongs to whom? Tom tests the keys in the Hooper's Store lock; the first doesn't work, meaning it's the key to the Fix-It Shop.

Big Bird rushes to the Fix-It Shop, gives Luis a piece of aluminum pipe, and asks him to bend it so that it looks like a letter C. Cartoon: C is for clipper - and captain, crew, cargo, cookies, cantaloupe, cabbage, candy, cake, and corks that the crew eats (some by mistake).

A chalk line has been drawn on the sidewalk near Oscar's trash can. Signs surround the can ordering pedestrians not to cross the line and not to disturb Oscar. David breaks the rules to find out what the deal is. He decides that Oscar wishes to be left alone so he can watch TV in peace. Oscar tells him he's going to watch the big Trashball game featuring the Grumptown Grouches and the Junkville Growlers at the Mud Bowl.

Gordon greets Mr. Hooper and gathers the kids in the yard for a game of basketball. Kermit the Frog also wants to join, but, despite his protestations to the contrary, is noticeably sick with a cold, sneezing and coughing all over everyone. Mr. Hooper leads Kermit over to the store to take his temperature.

At the Fix-it Shop, Richie brings a toaster for Rafael to fix. Richie asks Rafael why he keeps the door locked, and Rafael explains that it's to protect the shop from burglars. He demonstrates the burglar alarm, but realizes he has to go home to find the key to turn it off. Muppets "The Question Song"

Susan has an old sneaker and tells the viewer that on any other street, it would be thrown away. But here on Sesame Street, she can give it to Oscar the Grouch, who then sings "I Love Trash."Dry and Wet (near the swimming pool) Artist: Cliff Roberts. Big Bird, Mr. Hooper, Luis, Maria, and Gordon decide who will greet the viewer first and who will do it last. Muppets Two brothers, First and Last, sing about how their names affect how they do things. Rafael greets the viewer, then Oscar gets his attention because he's blown a fuse in his kitchen. Rafael gives him a fuse, then Oscar tries to navigate his way to the kitchen in the dark, making a lot of noise in the process. He brings up a toothbrush and toothpaste, asking if he keeps those things in the kitchen. Rafael says no, those go in the bathroom. Oscar also finds a pillow from his bedroom, a piano from his living room, and finally a pot from his kitchen. When Oscar installs the fuse and turns on the lights, he sees the amazing mess he's made and decides to ...

Big Bird watches as Mr. Hooper sweeps in front of his store, but he tells Big Bird to move away from him as he does it. Big Bird doesn't know the meaning of away from, so Mr. Hooper shows him. Muppets-An Anything Muppet in a loud suit named Marty teaches Grover about adding and subtracting with three tangerines. Cartoon-G is for Glue Artists: The Hubleys.

Bob notices that the lid to Oscar's trash can is missing, so he gives it a knock. An irritated Oscar emerges, wearing a shower cap, and yells at Bob for bothering him during his shower. Realizing that the lid is missing, he worries that if it rains, it will ruin his Steinway.

Kid voiceovers observe that activities on the street (David and Tom playing basketball, kids riding bikes, Molly removing mail from the mailbox, and Big Bird blowing bubbles) are happening in reverse. They stop everything and correct the footage so it runs properly.

Tom welcomes the viewer, and uses a book about trains to demonstrate beginning and end. Beginning end. Film Film (stop-motion) - 'Beginning/End' - A man eats a hot dog. Tom greets the viewer, then has the kids look around for circles inside Hooper's Store. They see the letter O in the word SODA. Cartoon-O limerick. Cartoon-A guru counts to twenty.

Bob greets the viewer, and counts 7 towels on a clothesline. Film-The Mad Painter #7 Cartoon Jazz #7 (Spanish) Muppets "The ET Family Song" Big Bird invites Jay to play ball with him, but Jay has a sprained ankle and can't play. Rafael displays the crutches that Jay's doctor gave him, and explains to Big Bird how they work.

David greets the viewer, and counts three different sized wrenches, writing the number 3 on a white board. Luis grabs one, making it two, causing David to crumple up the 3 sheet and write the number 2 on a blank one. Luis then grabs another wrench, making it one, causing David to crumple up the 2 sheet and write the number 1 on a blank one. Luis then grabs the last wrench, making it zero, causing David to crumple up the 1 sheet - but David then realizes he can count the three balls of paper.

Luis hands an iron to Antonio who leaves the Fix-It Shop after an exchange in Spanish between the two. He explains to the audience that he's just been working on a cabinet, but he has to tell them what the letter of the day is. He opens the cabinet door to reveal Susan who says that the letter of the day is R.

In the arbor area, Tom leads the kids in moving like a penguin, an elephant, and a fish. Film-Fish swim around. Music: Joe Raposo Muppets A disconsolate Ernie tells Oscar the Grouch that he's lost his Rubber Duckie. Oscar tries to calm Ernie down and says that he'll buy Ernie another one. Ernie says he can't - Rubber Duckie is special and unique. He tells Oscar that Rubber Duckie is "cute, adorable, sweet, cuddly, and makes a wonderful sound." Oscar tells Ernie that he'll bring him a new one.

Molly greets the viewer while speaking very slowly. When Susan asks why, Molly introduces something even slower than she is.

Luis helps Big Bird and the kids put together a toy boat. Muppets-An Anything Muppet barbershop group sings "High, Middle, Low".

David and Oscar listen to various sounds of the street. Oscar guesses incorrectly on all of them, when they hear the sound of a truck. Oscar says this is the sound of the Mudman arriving, but David thinks they would instead hear the sounds of cans clanking. Sure enough, the Mudman drives past, now operating a "Mudmobile." Muppets-Monsters look at a big A.

Tom introduces one of today's letters - C. Big Bird remembers that something he wanted to buy from Hooper's Store begins with C, but he can't remember what. Tom finds various C-word items on the shelves, but none are what Big Bird wants. He finally remembers he wants some strawberry ice cream, in a cone.

David, dressed as a magician, "turns" a chair into a number 4. Animation-Scanimate Films #4. Cartoon A chair displays the word SIT, and a beast sits on him. Muppets-Ernie and Bert - Ernie and Bert have pizza and grape juice. Bert complains that Ernie has more of each, so Ernie tries to make it even by eating some of his pizza and drinking some of his grape juice, but then Bert has more. And so on.

Rafael is searching around the block, as one of the neighbor kids has lost their dog Daisy.

Mr. Snuffleupagus roams Sesame Street looking for Big Bird. He meets Chris in the arbor, and the two head off to find Big Bird. Muppets- Fran Brill narrates two Anything Muppet hands who argue over a piece of cake before they decide to share it.

Susan asks the kids about the longest words they know. Big Bird responds by singing "ABC-DEF-GHI."

Harvey Kneeslapper enacts his latest prank - he fills Molly's hat with confetti, which will spill all over her when she puts it on. She and Tom exit Hooper's Store and see Harvey, instantly knowing there's some scheme going on. Harvey encourages Molly to put on her hat, but she doesn't feel like it right now. She puts it on him instead, showering him with confetti.

Luis cleans up the Sesame Street sign, reading the word STREET with the viewer. Cartoon- A drummer precedes C.T. Wordsworth who presents today's word: STREET. He sings about it with a boy who wears a crown.

Big Bird sees how things are going in the Fix-It Shop. Rafael has a barbell awaiting its owner and Big Bird suggests telephoning them to see when they can pick it up. Big Bird thinks the phone is broken by the weird noise it makes, but Rafael assures him it's only the dial tone. Big Bird leans on the barbell, causing it to roll off the table and taking the phone with it. The phone is now broken and although Rafael is good at repairs, it is recommended that the repairmen from the phone company fix it. He goes over to Hooper's Store to use their phone, while Big Bird ...

Luis traces the sound of hammering to Oscar's can. Oscar now claims to be a new builder living in the can, which he seemingly thinks has fooled Luis too. Cartoon -"Poverty Q": A figure demonstrates Q words, despite the unruly stem of his letter Q that keeps detaching itself. Artist: Cliff Roberts.

Big Bird's solution to Rafael's problem is a bullhorn to contact customers. Big Bird demonstrates, but Bob, Maria and Gordon come by, thinking they've been summoned. The telephone repairman arrives and Rafael escorts him into the shop. Muppets-Twin Anything Muppets find they're identical, except for their voices. SCENE 3 Big Bird and Rafael watch as the repairman replaces the broken phone wire. Now that the phone is working, Rafael calls the owner of the barbell. Cartoon Y- for yawn.
