After crashing into Palmer's bus, driver Darryl is unharmed, passenger Josh only has a mild head wound, which he soon forgets about as Evie eagerly makes up. Nate finds most bus passengers out of real danger, so he and the ambulance which arrives shortly after with Alf's local emergency team can concentrate on seriously wounded Hannah and Kyle, who is pinned down by piercing metal, a nightmare as freeing him will almost instantly liberate poisoned blood. Even Sophie is too stunned to cause any more trouble on the way to hospital, nobody notices Leah was left behind ...

As soon as worried VJ makes Alf realize Leah is missing, Nate is informed and starts a successful crash site search, but her her prospects remain uncertain and VJ snaps at Zac as if an intruder, whose arrival wrecked his family. Kyle survived surgery, but must be kept in induced coma indefinitely. Darryl almost turns on Nate after overhearing Sophie admitting she caused him starting the crash series, but now she realize their marriage is over and turn herself in to the police. After helping Ash returning Phoebe and Matt home, Andy sends Josh home and devotes himself ...

Andy is doing his best to worm his way back into Hannah's life, banning her family from seeing her in hospital and hypocritically judging Nate and Sophie for the accident. Fortunately for Nate, no-one else seems to see the accident was his fault and John and Hannah are quick to absolve him of blame. Spencer jealously blasts Oscar on learning of Maddy's disappearance but when he speaks to Maddy on the phone and she asks about Oscar, he abruptly changes tack and decides Oscar is the only person who can find her, so Oscar is soon on his way to the city with only Maddy's ...

Roo is furious that Oscar has gone looking for Maddy without her but Alf convinces her that Maddy is more willing to listen to a friend than an authority figure. Roo and Spencer pool their resources to provide Oscar with clues and he finds Maddy playing her violin in a rotunda; the scared girl still isn't ready to go home and Oscar insists on sticking with her. With mother Leah comatose in the city, VJ is being a brat towards de facto stepfather Zac and ends up dragging a reluctant Jett into stealing the surf club's buggy. He then selfishly abandons it at the caravan ...

Covering for VJ, Jett takes the blame and seemingly everlasting chores-punishment for their wild beach quad ride. While comatose Kyle still fights for his life, Devlin and Grant eagerly post a compromising video of high Phoebe on Internet. Darryl is arrested as suspect for the murder of Ash's nemesis Dean.

Brax slips into smug criminal mode at being questioned over Dean's murder but the smugness fades when he's presented with the fact his fingerprints were on the murder weapon. Ricky plays the role of the deluded girlfriend, slapping Ash and blaming him for everything, and Ash offers to take the fall. Oscar grows increasingly frustrated as Maddy refuses to face up to how much trouble she's in, despite doing a runner from a restaurant and having to sell her violin so they don't sleep rough. Phoebe stupidly refuses to do anything about Neive, despite her pictures being ...

Darryl is finally released on bail, but Rickie overhears him discussing with Ash, whose offer to confess falsely is rejected as pointless, who really murdered Dean, considering the mine town barman. Jett openly defies Palmer's instructions to avoid the 'dangerous' Braxtons, but John comes up with an idea to stop being their neighbors at all. Nate makes Andi realize that caring for Hannah, in rehab or even a permanent wheelchair, is too hard for one man. After she chases Andi in frustration, he returns and makes her accept the family must be told.

Kyle got wind of Darryl's troubles and dismisses himself from hospital, against Nate's advice. Despite a promise to limit his efforts to paperwork, he wants to join Darryl and Ash on a mission to prove that Dean's killer is crippled backwater barman Steve Kennedy, but Daryyl's 72 report bail parole terms require postponing anyhow. Jett's unwillingness to leave the only home he ever felt safe and happy in wins Marilyn's support, but after making Darryl admit the Braxtons "can't guarantee anything" John still decides the Palmers must move to safety, the compromise being...

Nate tells Zac and VJ that Leah is ready for a crucial test, but after she's awaken from coma and artificial breathing removed, the prospects are virtually hopeless. To Chris's horror, Palmer ordered replacements for the stolen newspapers, so the whole circus starts all over, with even less help from Spencer. Josh does a great job distracting Evie while their wait for Hannah's medical verdict.

VJ and Zach gets news about Leah's condition.

Brax is planning to skip bail in order to force a confession out of Sam, but is bugged by Kat actually doing her job and keeping an eye on the criminal element, despite Emerson being prepared to give them free rein as usual. In the end, Ricky arranges a distraction to help Brax leave. Maddy and Oscar return to town, where Maddy tells her family she's ready to begin chemo. Oscar finds himself sidelined as Andy continues to make all the decisions in Hannah's life, pressuring Nate into letting her go home and then moving himself in as her carer, to the anger of Denny who...

Kyle nearly finds distraction for the anguish over Darryl and Ash's desperate mission and his own convalescence in guitar playing for and singing with Phoebe. Worried by his hurtful throat, he consults Nate, who orders tests for a presumably tube-caused injury which may be treated but can recur, even after surgery. Handsome young newcomer Ryan Kelly, seemingly a passing-by tourist, declares his delight in 'finding' Phoebe, but actually lurks around the Braxton brother's home. Andy's performance as Hannah's rock and home nurse and Oscar's lecture make Denny reconsider ...

Ash tries to prevent impatient Darryl manhandling Sam Kennedy, but the barman first tries to escape, then dismisses any responsibility for the wrong man being charged with Dean's murder and calls the local police, so the boys must hastily return frustrated. Zac must prepare for the new school year as interim principal. VJ violently rejects any attempt to suggest him returning to school, as Matt intends to try again for a university spot, or even to display a picture of Leah 'as if she were dead'. Chris decides it's time to 'give back to the community', so he demands a place in 'old' John's rescue team, but palmer puts him trough endless hazing and chores before mentioning a form suffices to apply for the training program. To Zac's delighted relief, VJ makes up and takes Jett's advice to return to school after all. Despite Marilyn and especially Jett's opposition, John is determined to sell their home and move to a safer one, without the trouble-magnet Braxton neighbors. Josh decides to cheer up Evie, even if he must break the rules by committing vandalism.

Brax makes it back for his sign in but is at the end of his tether with his hopeless plan to force a confession out of Sam having failed. Kat gets evidence that Brax broke his bail conditions so Kyle tries to stop her reporting him with a meaningless guilt trip about a case in her past where she let an innocent man be killed. Josh has decided to graffiti on a public building to impress Evelyn, so ends up with a fine and John and Chris getting set to clean it up. Unfortunately, sulking brat Jett tips off the self-centred pair and soon all three of them are whining ...

Oscar turns up late to the hospital and Maddy is soon leaning on him again to the exclusion of all others. Alf suspects he is taking on too much and says they can look after her. Self-absorbed couple Josh and Evelyn have managed to drag a group of louts in to support their indulgent protest and soon even deluded child woman Marilyn is spouting nonsense about their democratic right to deface public buildings in the name of themselves. Brax continues to wallow in self-pity despite Kyle acting as though Kat believing them means everything is solved. Kat does cover up ...

Josh throws in the towel graciously when Alf declares the protest to save his graffiti for Evie against surf-club rules. Chris proceeds to cleaning it up and Palmer thinks they won, but Marilyn wines he forgot all about romance. Darryl throws his lawyer Craig Stanley out for proposing he should either plead guilty for a lenient sentence or go for reasonable doubt by stressing Ash makes at least as good a suspect. Spencer is not amused to find pixie Matt in his class and duly calls him a hopeless loser likely to lose Sasha to a real student soon, so the idiot picks a ...

After agonizing consideration and talking to Ash, Darryl calls lawyer Craig back to accept a guilty plea deal. Nate worries when Hannah cancel her first physio-therapy session, finds at home that she's just scaring away and convince Andy that he must stop doing everything for her so she can hide from life. During detention, Zac convicnes matt to talk things trough before Sasha leaves for university.

Hearing from Nate that Hanah needs encouragement to stop hiding and leaning on Andy, Zac visit, sends Andy dealing some of his own stuff and gets her out of bed into a wheelchair, admitting she must live again and therefore start rehab. VJ is furious that Zac thus missed their lunch date at Angelo's and scolds him unreliable. Kinky fan-stalker Ryan Kelly reserves an exclusive dinner at Angelo's, thus learns Kyle will be out of town that evening and gathers the courage to invite himself at the Braxton home to see her.

Marilyn is continuing to be childish towards John but soon changes her tune when he rescues Phoebe from creepy stalker Ryan. However, the experience leaves John more convinced than ever that they should move, and the prospect of losing his bolt hole sees VJ pack his bags. Kat reads Ryan the riot act and Phoebe takes out a restraining order but Ryan continues to watch her. Maddy takes another turn for the worse when her chemotherapy leaves her with a fever. Brax's concern over pleading guilty causes him to act like a bear with a sore head and yell at Phoebe. Ricky and Ash both ponder whether he's doing the right thing and when Brax gets the call he learns he'll still serve eight years. Phoebe tries to hide what happened with Ryan but Kat lets slip. Kyle attacks Ryan and needs Phoebe and Ash to point out that one brother getting himself jailed out of stupidity is enough. Maddy is on cloud nine at the idea of dating Oscar but he is less than certain, although he eventually seems to accept her sincerity. Zac learns VJ is ...

Darryl refuses to further discuss his decision to accept the eight years-spelling guilty plea deal and signs over controlling shares in the restaurant and gym to Kyle viz. Andy. Josh is surprised that Plamer asks his advice on an artistic surprise for Marilyn, as Evie points out after insisting on the destruction of Josh's mural, but gives his honest, crushing opinion and advices seeking John's own strength, verbal, yet composing a poem proves no easier. Impossible patient Hannah wines to Nate there's no progress yet and insists that 'in-living orderly' Andy, who ...

As even her ex Nate can't mediate in complications of the heart, Andi is spooked by Hannah jumping his bones and takes some time off, to which she responds by 'releasing him', while even Josh counts on their relationship holding, fearing Evie might blame both Barrett brothers. Spencer is scarily hostile, even rude, to Chris, barely standing his presence, probably not just because of Maddy. John insists on celebrating an asking price bid on the house, waving Jett who remains dead against moving as of 'of will work out great'.

Spencer is feeling useless but Roo encourages him to visit Maddy, who is grateful to just have a friend hang out with her. The incident inspires Spencer to try and organise a fundraiser for teenagers with cancer. Irene returns from the city without VJ, having apparently forgotten what she went there to do, and Zac forgets he's got a school to run and goes after him. Marilyn makes a big speech about happy memories which causes John to forget all the good reasons for wanting to get away from the Braxtons and rip the For Sale sign down. Sasha returns from uni but only ...

The Braxton clan gloomily prepares for Darryl's day in court, where his guilty plea deal will mean an eight year jail sentence, leaving Kyle and the others in charge. Yet when the judge asks for his plea, it's "not guilty". Nate tells Andy he must deal himself with the emotional quagmire caused by fickle Hannah's conflicting signals. Matt males clear to Sasha that he can't handle her bursting in and out of his life whenever she feels like it.

Darryl's surprising 'not guilty' plea-change startles his camp, leaving lawyer only one hope: establishing reasonable doubt by the next day's court session. Ash provides a lead by specifying that presumed murdered Sam Kennedy was hospitalized and mutilated by Dean. Nate is served divorce papers, but hesitates to formally close the Sophie chapter. Spencer's team, including Maddy's nemesis Evelyn, starts planning a musical cancer fund-raiser. The Braxton clan holds a beach party in case Darryl is jailed for years.

Barrister Craig Stanley does a great job showing that Sam Kennedy's crippling injuries, disabling him from his pilot dream career to remain stuck in his backwater home bar, constitute a better motive to kill Dean then Darryl or Ash, who came to find Billie. Spencer wags school for once, obsessed with the cancer benefit 'colour run', which he somehow feels the town owes his ex Maddy, rudely waving Chris's advice to dim. Josh and Evie practically drown in chores he assigns them, but enjoy collaborating anyhow. The trial turns around when Sam points out that the duo got ...

Maddy is happy and relaxed in her new relationship with Oscar, but frustratingly he seems to be having difficulty seeing the girl of his dreams instead of a girl with cancer. Alf manages to convince him to take her on a date, but when she gets a nose bleed he goes back to mollycoddling her. The MacGuires are almost absurdly helpless without Andy, showing how dependent Hannah has become on him, and Denny and Nate suggest she go back to hospital before Andy turns up wanting to talk to her. Ricky is blaming Ash for Brax's stupidity in making himself look like a murderer,...

Zac and VJ return from their visit to Leah but VJ continues to sulk, being rude to Marilyn and lashing out at Sasha and Matt, before breaking down in front of Zac. Andy continues to camp out by Hannah's door until he convinces her he's not with her out of pity, and is rewarded when she regains feeling in her leg. Oscar is excessively worried about Maddy wanting to live in the moment, but his advice convinces her to plan for the future and she decides to return to school. With their housemates still acting like two 18-year-olds spending the night together would mean ...

Even Jett starts losing his patience with comatose mother-obsessed buddy VJ, he keeps lashing out at everyone only to apologize shortly after. So Zac insists on some therapy, if a counselor isn't accepted at least beach jogging with him and boxing, sparring with Jett. Deluded fan Ryan Kelly, who installed a secret video-camera in Phoebe's room, now intrudes to pose a white rose of her bed, hides in the closet and abducts her later. Matt and Sasha overslept in the diner, so she can't turn in a paper worth 15% of her term grade timely, but Matt convinces Irene to let ...

Ash is practically smothering Ricky with his attempts to look after her but she is more receptive to a visit from Denny.Kyle returns and realises Phoebe is missing:She is being held captive by unstable Ryan, still convinced he's "saving" her.Ash gets Denny to take Ricky away to stop her finding out. Maddy has another chemo session and, when she doesn't seem to want him around afterwards, Oscar gets insecure and thinks she's gone off him:In fact, she's planning to surprise him with the fact she's returning to school.

Kat demonstrates police efficiency by picking up on the fact Ryan knew Kyle was out of town: She detects the camera in Phoebe's bedroom and has the signal traced. Deranged Ryan tries to get Phoebe to sing for him but instead she manages to overpower him just as the rescue party turns up. Nate arranges a date with Kat to get over his divorce. Oscar, having spent a year wanting Maddy to go out with him, is now spending all his time hoping she'll dump him, apparently because he views Andy and Hannah flaunting themselves in front of him normal couple behaviour, only for ...

Maddy's first day at school is a far from resounding success: She has a lot of catching up from missing months of work and has to go home after being sick. Oscar continues to ridiculously believe that he and Maddy aren't working despite having been in love with her for a year, apparently solely because they aren't pawing each other all the time like plastic couples Andy/ Hannah and Josh/Evelyn are. He goes round and breaks up with her, which she deals with in a mature manner by deciding to stay friends and continue with school. Spencer and Evelyn pitch the colour run ...

Josh prudently holds back when Evie kisses him in the car and suggest going all the way, but is frustrated while she fears he may lose interest. VJ finds the gym punching bag a useful outlet for his maternal bedside frustration, but drags sparring partner buddy Jett into suggesting they should train for an amateur match, which Zac firmly refuses. Chris eagerly volunteers to collect/commandeer/hustle sponsor contributions for Spencer's cancer benefit color run.

Zac and especially John find it hard to talk VJ and Jett out of aiming for their box gym training to lead to an actual fight, even if that's an unthinkable bloody nightmare for Marilyn, so Palmer hopes to scare them off with grueling training methods, like a raw egg breakfast of champions. While Chris does a great job extorting 'generous' contributions from local businesses, cancer benefit organizer in chief Spencer needs reminding that Roo, hence the diner, would do anything to help Maddy. Denny finally considers dating again, which so far felt as betraying late ...

Josh is more amused the impressed but keeps a fairly straight face when 'big brother' Oscar reads him the riot act about dating Evie like a father might. Josh also asks Kyle for a restaurant job, rather then sponge on Andy or work under him in the gym. Ash is flattered that Denny shows interest in him, but dares not return her kisses, given his promise to Darryl to keep off her. Yet Ash is verbally abused by Rickie, even after Kyle points out Ash didn't make a move and encourages Ash to look after their own lives.

Nate is ready to date Cat again, but she acts aloof at their next dinner after hearing he's Ricky's ex. During her first jail visit, Darryl is not amused that Ricky nags about being banned so long and keeps blaming and badmouthing Ash, now on account of Denny's kiss. Kyle finds the news that her stalker-kidnapper is jailed without trial only deepens Phoebe's paranoia.

Startled Nate finds Cat unwilling to keep dating him, afraid that rumors could 'undermine her credibility' as police newbie; she even scares Chris into retracting his rumor trail. Kyle convinces cat to find out and tell Phoebe what happens to her stalker Ryan Kelly. Nate reluctantly allows Hannah to nag till Andy takes her out of a boat trip, but her yapping causes them to fail noticing a fast-approaching yacht.

Hannah turns out not to be in any real trouble at all but it's enough to get Andy to wallow in guilt until everyone tells him how wonderful he is (while Hannah is uncharacteristically happy that her niece is doing it). John and Zac's attempt to put Jett and VJ off boxing with hard workouts backfires when the boys rumble them. Maddy is struggling with her study without fickle Oscar so Roo drafts in Spencer, who is disgusted with Oscar's behaviour. Maddy then suffers a panic attack at the thought of going back to school.

Maddy is still upset about Oscar's senseless rejection of her and almost doesn't go back to school. Sasha returns looking to see Matt, who retreats into his favourite past time of bullying Spencer, escalating a row between Spencer and Oscar in class which leaves Maddy upset. John and Zac feel they have no option but to let Jett and VJ fight each other but a self-righteous rant from Irene prompts Zac to withdraw the offer. Matt again winds up Spencer and Oscar, this time in front of Sasha, resulting in VJ, denied a safe outlet for his anger, punching Oscar and getting ...

VJ is very bitter about his suspension, even snaps at Nate just for trying to mediate, but Zac can't reverse it, so VJ decides instead to spend the time at comatose Leah's bedside with an aunt. Ash has a ball introducing Denny to surfing, but Ricky's presence makes her back down. After nagging till Matt admits he still loves her, Sasha is made to face the impossibility of following her dream at university while frequently returning home for him, her trial period idea makes no sense.

Nate isn't daunted by Kat's fear if looking unfit for police work by having an affair, yet after making out she reverts into secrecy. Ricky realizes Ash and Denny are really in love but tells him to talk to Darryl about his promise to leave her alone. Matt is gloomy about his future as final year schoolboy now Sasha finally leaves for full-time study after a surprise party for two.

During a jail visit, Ash tries to get Darryl's blessing to date Denny, but is bluntly told no way, which Kyle later explains as about Casey's tragic end. When cat praises Nate for his ER performance, he gives her a taste of being sanctimoniously ignored by a lover, which gets her reconsidering his 'dumping'. Andy dares to tell Kyle he's not formally qualified yet to run the gym.

Spencer continues to resent Oscar for upsetting Maddy, giving Evelyn something to whine about, but eventually manages to be the bigger man and apologise. However, he is left arguing with Chris about who has to move into Sasha's old room. Josh learns about Andy's reading problems and agrees to help him, and also finds himself employed as a delivery boy at Angelo's when Matt proves unreliable. Maddy is still unable to face up to Spencer and Oscar, leaving her effectively friendless. Evelyn decides to support her after a hospital appointment and learns her chemo isn't ...

Maddy is devastated that her chemo isn't working so Evelyn takes her back to the farm to cheer her up; unfortunately, Oscar does the same with newly single Matt, and when Josh comes round doing Matt's delivery job both Matt and Maddy walk out. Matt quits his job but Oscar tries to convince Maddy to keep fighting for the people who care about her. Chris moves all Spencer's things into Sasha's old room and Spencer accepts it when they accidentally smash a window in the old room. Marilyn tries to convince Phoebe to return to singing. VJ suggests to Zac that he goes to ...

Maddy is still uncertain about the colour run after Oscar arrogantly blabbed to her about it, while Spencer is still planning the undertaking as a surprise. Oscar determines to get her there but instead gives her a patronising lecture and leaves her alone. The news arrives that Leah has recovered consciousness and Zac and VJ rush to her side but Zac is racked with guilt after Alf foolishly convinced him to stop waiting for her. Gunno illogically starts giving Brax a hard time just because Ash is visiting him, sparking off a riot, and when Brax refuses to say who ...

Everyone frets at the colour run but just as they're about to start without her Maddy turns up. Not only does she start the race off, she determinedly walks the course herself, and is left with a renewed determination to fight her cancer. Kat uses Chris to make Nate finish behind her, then fobs him off so she and her not-entirely-secret lover can disappear off to a motel room. Ash finds out about Brax being in solitary and tells Kyle but not Ricky. With Matt still off wallowing, Kyle convinces Phoebe to sing instead and joins her, but things get awkward when he ...

Kyle is shocked that Phoebe not only refused his proposal but moved to Ricky's and feels any marital plan spoils their relationship, maybe even irreparably. Nate and Kat enjoy a passionate night, but she panics after near-oversleeping, forced to the 'walk of shame' home, noticed by Ash, who meanwhile finds Denny unable to give them a chance, as if betraying Casey.

Andy is delighted to be shown that Hannah can stand again, albeit only moments yet, which they celebrate in bed. Josh is pleasantly surprised by Andy's study progress for the gym instructor exam. Ash is relived when Denny agrees to a relationship after all. Matt still wallows in self-pity, even over the job he threw at Josh, only Evie still seems to care for him but he waves owing manning up to awoken Leah.

John Palmer regretfully turns down a Navy veterans reunion invitation as too expensive, leading to the realization that Summer Bay should have its own war memorial. Matt keeps making a pest of himself, but must go very far to shake off Evie, who is determined to kick him a conscience to pick of his life post-Sasha. Zac is angry that he didn't even properly welcome back Leah, who can't hide she still gets headaches and can't get used to her old life again.

Ash starts to worry as Darryl is still in isolation, but Kyle decides not to tell Ricky before they know the full story. Ricky forces Phoebe finally to talk again to Kyle, but he still wants marriage and now even kids 'sometime', chasing her even worse. Josh patiently allows Evie to bother with impossible Matt, who is becoming a dysfunctional drunk fast.

Ash finds out and tells Kyle that Daryl is threatened in jail by his own nemesis there, drug murderer Gunno. Nate learns that Cat's fear for a public relationship stems from some unspecified past trauma, which seems unsurmountable, and tries to calm down pregnant Ricky as she's told about Daryl's peril.

Nate agrees to remain friends with Cat as long as she hasn't come to terms with her exposed affair with a married man at her first post. Andy's first gym instructor assessment, in practice, goes poorly, despite help form 'guineapig' Spencer, who is explicitly judged better fit, so Kyle warns Andy his job and the gym's very existence now depend on the theoretic part the next day. Ash begs Zac to arrange a prison visit with Darryl's assailant Trevor 'Gunno' Gunson, who bluntly says the next abuse may be fatal unless Ash helps him bring in drugs. Alf refuses to join the ...

Andy is still regarded as the best choice for gym manager, so Hannah does a strip tease to encourage him to get proper qualifications. Spencer is understandably reluctant to see the father who abused him and Maddy last time he was in town, but a chat with surrogate family Alf and Roo and with Maddy convinces him to accompany Chris to the hospital. The conversation causes Maddy to decide she needs to contact her own estranged family about her cancer. Evelyn convinces to be a brat about the Anzac Day trip but does at least realise how offensive she was towards Alf. She ...

Maddy meet controlling mother Tanya for the first time in over two years, having apparently only aged one year in the meantime, and tells her about her cancer. Tanya appears supportive but is soon blasting Roo, the woman who's supported Maddy throughout it all. Alf grows increasingly frustrated at the brattish attitude of the teens on the war memorial excursion, especially Evelyn and Matt, but a lecture from Marilyn causes the youngsters to begin to appreciate the solemnity of the occasion (although Josh continues to act like a macho jerk). Jett notices Alf is plagued...

The teens have to spend the night in a simulation World War I trench, but it isn't enough to stop Josh and Matt brawling like idiots and Oscar has to stop Matt walking off. It's too realistic for an increasingly haunted Alf, who wanders off during the night and collapses on the battlefield, with the group having to work together to look after him until help arrives. Maddy is torn between her worries about Tanya's controlling behaviour, her desire for reunion with her family and surrogate mother Roo's feelings: She decides to go back to her family and Roo asks her to ...

Alf is in hospital in the city and, while he hasn't had a heart attack, the doctors are still concerned. Jett pays him a visit and they meet Tom Knight, a WW2 veteran who seems bitter about his experiences despite his apparent joviality. Maddy tells Oscar she's leaving but can't bring herself to Tanya. Finally realising that her home and family are in Summer Bay, she tells Tanya she can't go with her. Ash must do Gunno's bidding, but Kyle decides, after a reconciliation with Phoebe went so badly she even resigned as restaurant staff, that he has 'nobody to be missed' and goes instead, to spare Denny another Casey-trauma. Getting drunk together, Cat and Phoebe resolve to make up with Nate and Kyle, but Nate refuses and Kyle is on his mission. Alf resolves to return the effects of his dead hospital roommate, fellow war veteran Tom Knight, to his long-estranged son.

Chris is crushed when Spencer decides, after phoning home, to return indefinitely to make up with their father. Gentleman Nate's restraint with drunk nymphomaniac Cat is rewarded with a sober offer to date publicly. Alf fusses terribly about being released from hospital in time for ANZAC day, which he never missed, just now it's the Gallipoli centennial. Jett gathers the youth and John to prepare a special event - Josh designs and starts sculpting a monument. Andy and the MacGuires are delighted now Hannah can walk again.

Spencer makes a rather rushed exit from the Bay, although he does manage last moments with Roo, Maddy and, oddly, Matt. Matt himself makes an exit after Evelyn finally calls him out on his sulking over a high school break-up. Leah tells Zac she loves him after an impromptu indoors picnic. Ash tells Denny he had a brother who may or may not have died in Afghanistan and is visiting his grave, while Andy leads the River Boys in their never before seen Anzac Day commemoration despite not being a River Boy. Roo and Nate manage to break Alf out of hospital to join the dawn ...

Alf has to go back to hospital after the dawn service but, with Maddy still having chemotherapy, Roo is unable to accompany him. Marilyn decides to go with him instead and kind-hearted Maddy arranges to stay with Irene so Roo can go. Josh and Evelyn wonder about Matt's whereabouts and take a surprisingly long time to think of trying Mangrove River. Ash is finally reunited with lost sister Billie at their brother's grave and convinces her to come back to Summer Bay and spend time with him. However, the revelation that her ex-boyfriend Dean is dead doesn't exactly set ...

Billie is keen to leave after hearing of Dean's death. Ricky takes it upon herself to tell her what happened and Billie ends up taking Ash's number. Chris' plan for a cosy afternoon with Irene is thwarted when she and Maddy exclude him by having pedicures, then Irene overreacts and accuses him of making Maddy feel unwelcome. Fortunately, he's nice enough to apologise anyway. Josh and Evelyn spend ages tracking Matt down only to yell abuse at him for a couple of minutes then go away again, although he ends up going home anyway. Kyle returns from his job in a sulky and ...

Kyle has done Gunno's delivery, but is asked for another, so Ash warns it won't be enough until it lands him i jail, yet Kyle refuses to 'let Darryl and his family down' and worries when fickle ex Phoebe talks to cop Cat, causing another tongue-lashing. Leah finds brat lodger Matt utterly drunk, Nate warns he's slipping into his addict father's River Boy worst habit, so the knave promises to clean up his act.

Nate is positive about Matt's chances to avoid alcohol addiction and approves an alternative to hospital counselor therapy, a youth camp. Zac also supports him and is happy with Leah, but decides, against VJ's emphatic advice, to come clean about the time he nearly left at the now most appreciative knave's suggestion. Andy's mock test results are stunningly good. He's delighted when Oscar volunteers to take Spencer's place in the gym, yet Hannah wines that may cause him to relapse in excessive training.

Oscar senses Hannah's excessive concern about him 'relapsing' in the gym, even under Andy, and appeases it by handing her a veto if he actually does. Bored and lonely, Chris volunteers to help out John, who shamelessly abuses him as toilet cleaner and send shim home, until Irene points out the trauma of Spencer being back home. Leah can't handle Zac's intended 'desertion', hence orders him to move out, even after VJ points out it was his idea, for her sake.

Ash races to prevent Kyle doing another contraband delivery for Gunno's gang, but the startled henchman semi-accidentally throws Kyle down, who incurs a had wound on a rock. Nate -finally on public kissing terms with nosy Cat- finds it less bad then it looks, but Denny and Ricky freak. Hearing that Darryl is out of isolation and still forbidden to receive visitors, Kyle blames himself and Ash. To VJ's great relief, after convincing Zac at least to stay the night, Leah apologizes fro slapping VJ -a first ever- and invites Zac -towel only- to stay.

Nate warns Ricky she must stop worrying about the Braxtons except her baby. The ingrate blames Kyle for risking the baby's last Braxton relative not being around by playing Gunno's game. In jail, Darryl risks warning Gunno, by fists, he fears nor risk to revenge any harm to his family, which seems to work. Andy passed his gym instructor exam and insists to teach Oscar all about the job. Denny finds out that Ash, whose sister Billie moving into his caravan renders her jealous, lied to protect her and dumps him .

Kyle clearly told house guest Billie that stealing kisses from him can only be a one-off surprise, but the minx refuses to be told anything and gets unsuspecting Ash to arrange for her to move in at Kyle's while Phoebe takes Andy's place as he moves in for good at the MacGuire farm. Oscar dreads telling gym mentor Andy he doesn't want to be groomed for his side job to become 'managerial'.

Hannah is Phoebe's odd choice for a shoulder to cry on when she learns Kyle hasn't been waiting around for her. Equally oddly, Chris is sulky when John tells him he needs to spend time with Marilyn and Jett, even though he already knows that, and then convinces Phoebe to stay in town...which is probably good news to someone. Maddy once again proves she's not as selfish as everyone makes out by playing peacemaker between reformed drunk Matt and a resentful Josh. Alf is back in town but ends up yelling at Maddy and Matt's jabbering, then suffering more chest pains. Maddy follows him and Roo to the hospital for about sixty seconds watching him yell at Nate, who thinks he has PTSD. Leah tells Zac and VJ about her MRI. Evelyn pushes Matt and Maddy to spend time together, despite Josh's worries that they could end up hooking up. Jett returns from the city having made the rather curious decision that he wants to join the army.

Alf returns home but continues to be in denial about his PTSD. Roo tries to persuade him to face up to it, but Irene's interference only provokes an angry reaction from him. Annoying Evelyn has decided to get Matt and Maddy together but sitting them on a sofa and making them watch romantic movies fails to produce any sparks. Despite claiming it wouldn't happen again, Kyle is back sleeping with Billie, but when she refers to him as her boyfriend he starts giving her the cold shoulder again and avoiding her. Ash turns into a violent thug at the first indication of his sister having sex and twice tries to attack Kyle, but fortunately Billie isn't in the mood to let him wallop a mostly innocent boy. Kyle and Billie smooth things over and decide to start again as friends. Annoying Evelyn is still oddly obsessed with getting Matt and Maddy together but forcing them to spend a night together in a tent only results in them playing Candy Crush. Caring Maddy makes a breakthrough with Alf by pointing out that they both have illnesses that aren't their fault. Ash and Denny have an uncomfortable meeting but it results in Denny and Phoebe deciding to throw Ricky a surprise baby shower. Now that she's no longer dependent on Andy, Hannah is finding his rearranging her house and planning holidays smothering, but her attempt to speak her mind leaves him sulking in the bedroom. Marilyn returns to town but confronted by the idea of Jett joining the army she refuses to consider it.

Oscar helps Andy, who was angrily packing to move out, to make Hannah be honest about their expectations and agree to terms of closeness. Jett is even more determined then Marilyn not to give in on his plan to join the Army, neither gives John's mediation attempt a real chance. VJ and Zac worry as Leah packs to return to hospital. Nate finally gets Cat to admit she had no right to cold him disloyal for telling the truth about his dubious declaration to facilitate an urgent prison visit to Darryl. Chris duly cries gender discrimination when the girls not only turn him ...

Zac and VJ have a hard time coping with Leah's initial refusal even to consider brain surgery, while Nate insists it must be done, and fast. Rickie gets her baby shower, but despite the cheerful hen party atmosphere, baby gifts only make her bitterly think of absent father Darryl in jail.

Jett makes his parents's day by reconsidering his future and giving up his army dream. Darryl is dazzled and frustrated when his prison visit from Ricky is canceled without explanation. In fact she has to be rushed to hospital to have their baby early, despite John's car trouble. She regrets having said to want nobody by her side and gratefully accepts uncle Kyle as substitute father.

Kyle and Ash's main part in the general joy over Darryl's baby's birth is dampened as their problematic rapport with Phoebe, Billie and Denny is made acute again. Denny finally agrees to make up with Ash and urges Kyle to give Phoebe a last try, but he overhears her nag that she can't trust him ever again after his secrecy about Billie.

Although nobody is really in the mood, except bouncing-back Chris, Phoebe accepts a singing gig. When Oscar convinces Andy he's giving Hannah too much space by not even offering to attend together, he finds her dancing with a pushy man and leaves, hurt, before Ash comes chase him from Denny and Blllie. Kyle came too, to finally talk to Phoebe, but is cruelly dismissed. Zac isn't as easily convinced as eager VJ that Leah is doing fine again, yet can't stop her from resuming work in the diner, and soon as school counselor.

Matt inexplicably decides that Evelyn trying to force him and Maddy together means Maddy likes him, and for some reason instead of actually asking her or talking to someone involved he decides to force Oscar to ask her some vague questions that just leave Maddy first confused and then upset when she finds out everyone has been organising her life. Leah's unsuitability for work is proved when she yells at Matt when he tries to go to her for advice, yet VJ foolishly covers for her. Chris spends the day trying to cure a hangover with hilarious results, while Kat suddenly...

Alf returns from his time away, committed to having counselling for his PTSD. Maddy is still upset about how Josh and Evelyn's interference has ruined her friendship with Matt, but after a quiet word from Roo they make it up to her by turning her chemo appointment into a study session. Matt clams up with the police and refuses to discuss photos tying him to the robbery. Leah finds the stolen money and, when Matt refuses to offer an explanation, hands it over to Kat, resulting in Matt being charged. Kyle proves a natural at babysitting, just when Ricky's excessive confidence melts down despite Ash's cheerful support, just before she goes visit Darryl to choose a name. Nate makes up with Kat. Matt refuses to blame Leah for denouncing him, even needs pushing to accept a defense lawyer. Alf pretends his first PTSD therapy session helped, but actually walked out.

Darryl enjoys Rickie's first prison visit with the baby immensely, but she breaks down once back home 'alone', finding support with uncle Kyle, who is delighted to hear they agreed to call the baby after his late half-brother Casey. Hearing Phoebe seeks an income from guitar lessons, Chris becomes her first pupil 'to seduce girls', until she finds he already plays better. Kyle and Phoebe make clear to jealous Billie he's not interested in her. Alf agrees to grant his therapist a one hour try, enough to accept treatment.

When Andy spots Hannah on the beach playing with Oliver Klozoff, whose impertinent dance style enraged him at the party, he doesn't walk off but knocks the man a black eye. Nate nurses it and a criminal abuse charge is waved, but Andy's rapport with Hannah is badly hurt. Denny imprints in Martin that it falls to him as big brother to rein in Billy, now jealous over Kyle against Phoebe, or she'll grow out of control completely.

Andy hides out in the gym sulking but a chat from Denny, a member of the Andy Barrett Fan Club, has him and Hannah rushing back into each other's arms for the umpteenth time. Leah continues to ignore the effects of her aneurysm and tries to give a career talk to the Year 11 and 12s but ends up losing it and going into meltdown in front of them. Matt and VJ finally tell Zac what's going on. After a long struggle, Maddy at last gets good news when Nate tells her her chemotherapy is working and begins arranging a celebratory party with her friends.

Evelyn has switched her match-making attention to Maddy and Oscar and the pair spend time together for the first time in ages at her party, but neither is willing to admit they have feelings for each other. Despite her behaviour in class, Leah refuses to admit anything is wrong, so Zac has to fire her. VJ confides in Jett about her aneurysm, bringing back memories of Gina. Leah turns up at the Diner in a confused state, then drives off. A search is mounted when she doesn't come home and Alf finds her car abandoned, while Leah wanders aimlessly in the bush.

After Leah has been missing all day and night, Alf finds her abandoned car and mobilizes for a rescue search. All Summerbay is deeply worried and quickly pulls together for a wide expedition in the vast bush.

Rescuers Zac, Alf and Matt are hospitalizes until Nate diagnoses them out of danger, Chris enjoys his hero status, although his part was too small for Jett to win a wafer with John, who treats Chirs from the winnings. VJ thinks everything will be all-right now Leah considers the operation, Zac is made her person of trust. In jail, Darryl's only shot at a transfer is ratting out a fellow con. Kyke agrees when Ash refuses to take risks in case the girls lose their last protector.

Nate tries to defuse the tension in the McGuire home by hosting a family dinner. Matt's theft and vandalism trial is coming up, Kat must decide whether to deliver a damning testimony, hurting him and Nate. Leah appoints Zach person of trust in case the brain surgery incapacitates her, for which Hannah's ex Sean Gleeson comes to town.

Hannah is strangely awkward about running into ex-boyfriend Sean while Evelyn and Oscar are delighted to renew their acquaintance. Alf has another intense counselling session with Roo listening in and later suffers another panic attack. Roo summons Maria for an emergency counselling session with Alf, then eavesdrops on the results again. Alf admits he feels ashamed he survived when others didn't but seems ready to move forward. Josh returns to his party after a two minute chat with Saint Andy and a meaningless moan about his mother. Brax continues to selfishly expect Kyle and Ash to wreck their lives so he can get out of jail, resulting in Ash randomly and brutally breaking up with Denny so he can help with Brax's escape plan.

With Kyle off telling the rest of the family, it is left to Phoebe to spread the news of runaway Brax's supposed death. Andy hides away in the gym with a punchbag while Evelyn is unable to help Josh but manages to get the two brothers talking. Leah heads into hospital for her operation, with her request to have her life support turned off if anything goes wrong weighing heavily on Zac. Sean convinces Hannah to join him and Nate in the operating theatre and things seem to go well but then she suffers not one but two setbacks and ends up flatlining.

Matt takes over from Evelyn as match-maker when he picks up on the mutual attraction between Maddy and Oscar: After he tells them both about the other's feelings, the sweet pair reunite. Leah is revived but left on a ventilator. Zac and VJ agonise over her request to have it turned off but she rapidly regains consciousness. To everybody's disappointment, Zac's romantic public proposal only confuses Leah, who really doubts. Hunky doc Nate saves imprudent Billie from drowning, but also incurs the risk to become the next object of her unenviable serial romantic obsessions.

John worries Marilyn by snooping in Jett's school bag, worse by finding a letter of admission with scholarship to a cadet boarding school. The knave assures them to have declined, but they now tell him to pursue his dream, so he'll leave the next day. Nate bravely keeps ignoring Billie's passes. Hannah keeps pretending her erotic dreams about ex Sean are meaningless due to commitment to Andy, but they actually get physical after she advices Phoebe not to give up 'safe bet' Kyle, so those two get back together.

Sean manages to hide from Andy after his evening of passion with Hannah, then tries to convince Hannah to leave her reformed criminal boyfriend. Hannah decides to do so, but oddly changes her mind when she finds out he's married, as if both of them cheating is somehow worse than one. Evelyn is quick to sit in judgement over Hannah's infidelity while Hannah insists that she loves Andy even though she was about to walk out on him a few hours earlier. Hannah ends up convincing Evelyn to keep quiet. The return of Ricky brings an abrupt end to Oscar's drunken antics; a mortified Oscar is reassured the next day by caring Maddy that she loves him as he is. Ricky refuses to deal with a box of Brax's things, which is probably a good thing because when she does open it she proceeds to trash her flat while her baby cries in the corner.

Nate tells Billie to have no romantic interest in her, only to be treated as the inappropriate party by the liar minx. Realizing Rckie needs closure, the Braxtons plan a memorial for Darryl, Kyle thinks of a simple beach ceremony. Phoebe commits fully to Kyle again

Ash and Phoebe spend a night in the storeroom chatting about their lives, with Ash randomly throwing out the L word just before Kyle releases them, after which they awkwardly decide to forget about it and be friends. Maddy finds a condom in Oscar's wallet and hints about staying the night but Oscar sends her packing, leaving both of them confused. John and Marilyn share their plan to move away with Jett, who is surprisingly keen on the idea. Marilyn ends up getting drunk and letting it slip at Leah and Zac's engagement party. Sean's wife Emma is in town and VJ invites them both to the party. There, Sean spends a bit too much time in intimate conversation with Hannah, and Emma makes it clear to Hannah that she know they slept together. No-one has bothered to invite Matt, and even though Zac rectifies it he doesn't stay long and instead spends the night with an older woman, Charlotte. When she turns up at school ...

Josh's school project, time lapse photography, intendedly acts as witness and conscience in the dirty games played by serial adulterer Seana nd his blasé wife Emma who knows for years, Andy seems the only innocent meat in their sandwich. Jett tells John and Marilyn they belong in Summerbay, he must follow his dream alone.

Finding out about Hannah's gross infidelity, Andy's heart breaks, yet he refrains from pommeling the sanctimonious adulteress, who meanwhile blames and slaps Evie, moves out and gets drunk. Even Josh can't stop him from driving and is far from amused that lover Evie never confided into him. Leah's insistence that new teacher Charlotte dines with her and Zac is as uncomfortable for the guest as for her just moved-back-in secret lover Matt.

With Hannah in a mess and Evie in a sulk, Leah finally suggests to Zac that the twins should be with them but there's no room. Sean and Emma both claim to have broken up with the other and make moves on Hannah and Andy respectively, but both get rebuffed and Andy decides to punch a punchbag while crying instead. Maddy tries to set Matt up on a blind date but he decides to sleaze onto a weirdly reciprocative Charlotte instead. It's Jett's last day and he thinks everyone's forgotten until they surprise him with a party in the Diner.

Jett says his farewell from Summer Bay, off to be an army drone, but manages to say farewell to John, Marilyn and Alf first. Matt does his best to sabotage his blind date, then tells Maddy that there's someone else. She realises it's Charlotte when Matt forgets the meaning of "discreet" but is shocked and horrified to realise they've slept together and tries to get her childish friend to look at things in a mature way. Billie seems to be normal as she apologises to Nate but proves just how much she has lost it by using Chris to make it look like Nate has attacked her.

Nate is horribly surprised when Billie's trap snaps and sets him up as a sexual predator. Still unsuspecting date Chris can only help her convince Ash his sister is the victim. Senior sergeant Mike Emerson, realizing who uncharacteristic the charge against the altruistic doc is, works by the book, but has to arrest him while Cat, who always wined about risks to her career, damages it and Nate's case by all too openly, even in uniform, siding with him and turning on the accuser.

The fabricated text message gets Nate processed like a common criminal, then released home on bail. What he can't handle as calmly is lover Cat clearly having instinctively doubted his innocence before overcompensating, so he finally dumps her. Kyle and Phoebe worry that Ricky seems to count on babysitters like them to dump Casey Jr., unable to stand his presence. They hope a girls beach day with Denny may clear her mind, while Kyle and Ash babysit. John and Marilyn are bored and lonely without Jett, so she jumps to the chance to take a babysitting shift. Alas, in the...

Chris realizes Billie is the wrong side and wants to rectify his damning testimony, but Nate warns him not to risk worsening it all. The search for Rickie fails, the long drive restores some intimacy between Ash and Phoebe, while Kyle drives alone, unsuspecting. Marilyn and John get the taste for babysitting baby Casey, even consider one of their own.

Ash rushes off when Ricki calls him, completely in panic, and brings her home to baby Casey. Kyle is shocked to overhear her telling Ash, whom Billie (into whom he just confided Darryl lives) convinced to tell her the truth, she hates herself for being relieved Darryl's death ends 20 years of 'pointless' waiting, even ashes out at Phoebe for understanding her dilemma. Chris brilliantly tricks Billie into confessing to her supposedly 'wife-abusive Nate-hating' cahoot that she invented the abuse, and is duly arrested. John suggests to Marilyn they could try for a baby.

Ash brings Billie home from the police station but only has one brief conversation with her before going back to sniffing around Phoebe. An annoyed Denny tells Kyle what's going on and he breaks up with Phoebe, who promptly has sex with Ash in the back of a car when she was declaring love to someone else a few hours earlier. Matt continues to sleep with teacher Charlotte while concerned friend Maddy points out how ridiculous it all is. Charlotte then proves her bad teacher credentials by threatening Maddy. Marilyn forgets her continuity but manages to dissuade John ...

Bratty Evelyn is still hiding out at Zac's place. Oscar tries to bring her and Hannah together but all Evelyn does is make snide remarks until Hannah finally snaps and blasts her for her ingratitude. The result is Oscar and Evelyn moving into Leah's place, where all the boys have to put themselves out for Princess Evelyn. Maddy tells Matt about Charlotte threatening her but Charlotte denies it: However, the appeal of sleeping with an 18-year-old schoolboy and part-time delivery boy soon wanes, and Charlotte dumps him. Leah works out she's been seeing someone and Andy ...

Between bickering, VJ and his roommates start settling to the idea. Nate fortunately is offered a room at Irene's place, so VJ gets his back. Leah insists on a welcome barbecue for the twins at won't take no as an answer from Andy and 'his' Charlotte, who can't refuse but has to face bitter scorned Matt, who threatens to expose her statutory rape, ignoring she secretly reports to a loved one.

Manipulative Charlotte convinces gullible Andy to put the hard word on Matt to get rid of the evidence that she's been sleeping with a student. However, Maddy unwisely stokes Matt's hatred of her and he informs Charlotte he still has copies. Leah and Zac are worrying about having four teenagers and their partners in the house but decide to arrange alone time. Chris kills Nate with kindness by taking him kayaking and to movies; when Kat queries it, he reveals he was feeling bad about believing Billie. Clever Oscar and fitter Matt can barely help each-other survive, unable to force the window, while Zac heroically braves the fire, but only gets the knaves out after passing-by Billie joins his rescue, and gets so badly burnt Nate really fears for her. Alf insists to take in Zac's whole homeless 'family', Roo tells him she's considering a study friend's offer to join his marketing teaching faculty in another state. The police finds the accelerator, proving arson.

Chris and John manage to cheer up Leah with a charity drive to replace some of the burnt belongings, but Zac realizes their Insurance lapsed. Kyle is not amused to hear that ex Phoebe already goes all the way with Ash. Nate manages to pull Billie trough medically, but even Ash refuses to believe the serial lair's claim of innocence when the accelerator fluid is found in her room, so she's arrested in hospital for arson. Matt apologizes for falsely (?) suspecting Charlotte and withdraws his exposure threat.

Ash and Phoebe hoped going public 'honestly' might render their relationship acceptable, but exes Kyle and Denny strongly and openly disagree. She drags Kyle to a bar to let off steam, but he gets drunk and decides afterward just before baby Casey's christening to turn down godfather-ship because he plans to leave the Bay. Roo's first lecture as novice marketing professor goes even worse then she feared.

Nate presides over a well-attended naming (non-religious baptism-counterpart) ceremony for baby Casey, Ricky convinced Kyle to be godfather even 'from elsewhere'. James checks on his recruit Roo, who tried to pretend all went well, but is comforted cheekily when she comes clean about her horrible start. Ash and Phoebe are shocked to hear that Kyle actually decided to leave the Bay, Ricky tells them he already walked off, so they catch him by car.

Andy is working his tail off to keep the gym going, and agrees to move in with Josh. Nate convinces Ash to visit depressed Billie in hospital, but he still can't believe in her arson innocence claim. Now Kyle has moved away, Phoebe and Denny first make up, then Phoebe and Cat rival for a shot at his room, but Hannah invites both to move into the twins former farm rooms instead.

Andy finally get physical all the way with Charlotte, finds a baby picture in her wallet and makes clear to harbor no interest anymore in Hannah, whom Denny gets to try a dating app which brings her together with pleasant Ben Altman.Nate, already worried about Billie's mental state, finds her missing and calls for a full-scale rescue as she may be suicidal. Cat finds her on a cliff but trips in ensuing pushing.

Zac is frustrated the insurance won't consider an exception to Leah's expired policy, but she wants neither to fight it nor stay indefinitely at Alf's as he keeps suggesting, instead intends to sell her half of the diner, while VJ and Oscar insist to take jobs and chip in, but Marilyn is brooding on a major fund raiser after collecting memories. Ash is ready to consider giving Billie the benefit of the doubt now she saved Cat from falling to her death, but only when Chris chimes in she overcomes apathy, ready for psychiatric therapy in the city.

A uni fair draws the attention of the older teens. Oscar is disappointed that Maddy intends to spend the next year travelling instead of going to college with him, but the day out leaves her considering training as a nurse instead. Evelyn is worried that Josh is staying up all night studying, and he ends up being offered some stimulants by one of the stall workers. Roo helps James out and gets a dinner invite in return. Zac feels bad about Leah having to sell her share of the Diner. VJ warns him not to go behind her back again but he applies for a personal loan.

Josh seems to be the only one studying at the teens' study session, and when Matt, Maddy and Evelyn's noisiness finally gets too much, he throws them out, then falls asleep studying again. Evelyn lectures him about finding a better balance but instead he goes to Damo for drugs. Irene and Marilyn prove that hell is well-meaning friends by giving Roo a list of dos and don'ts before her date with James, resulting in her coming across as rude and standoffish, then John has to stop them gatecrashing. Josh apologises to his friends and pretends to be taking a break from studying but Oscar finds his pills. Soon Matt and Evelyn know as well and Evelyn is furious. Zac is banking on the principal's job to pay off his massive debt, only for it to be instead given to Greg Snelgrove, another man puzzled why half the students are wearing the uniform from the wrong school. Leah is promptly made redundant, and instead of being honest with her Zac decides to take a loan from crazy ex Charlotte to pay off the other loan. Zac tells Leah they aren't getting the $50,000, but still doesn't tell her where it was really going to come from or that he's now in debt to Charlotte. Charlotte calls by the house and finds Josh injured; Josh refuses to go to hospital and admits to Andy that he has drug in his system. Rightly but slightly hypocritically, Andy tears a strip off him. Evelyn is still being a sulky brat, and refuses to even believe Josh was attacked, but Maddy convinces her to make up with him. VJ sees the intruder and chases him, getting his bag which contains the missing photo. ...

After declining Nate's advice to get checked out in hospital, fearing to be charged for illegal substances, Josh promises Andy and Evie to stop abusing 'study drugs'. Intruder Hunter confers with mother Charlotte, who helps avoiding suspicion of the accidentally-out-of-control fire at Zac's home which he confesses to her and the police lab formally qualified as arson, but insists it's time to meet his unwitting father. Ash and Phoebe finally declare their love, but the farm house-mates find a positive pregnancy test which proves Hannah's nor Denny's.

In the city, Kyle enters a high-stake poker game, loses and ends up in debt with a sinister club owner. Ash wonders why Phoebe avoids him ad presses her for the truth, but can't handle the surprise that she's expecting either his or Kyle's baby, she can't decide whether to abort it as she always presumed she would. James proves an exemplary date, despite Roo's insecurity and her disastrous home supporters team, and the one who steers to more commitment.

Ash collects himself, assures Phoebe he didn't mean to turn his back on her but simply needed a moment to absorb the paternity shock. They agree to tell Kyle, maybe even if he's not the father or if the baby is aborted. James accepts to dine at Irene's and handles Alf's suspicious question better hen Roo. Kyle's gambling exploits go badly, a goon knocks him in hospital.

After a night with Phoebe and Ricky at Kyle's sickbed, his swollen brain proves okay. He dismisses himself early to return home with them. Ash was exhausted and frightened by his first babysitting experience, yet hesitated to let Marilyn take Casey. Chris's shirtless waiters diner is being organized, with studly auditions including Hannah's latest dating app hunk whom she still dismisses thoughtlessly. Trough the baby-phone, Kyle overhears about Phoebe's pregnant dilemma.

Nate warns it's he last time he dispenses with hospital protocol and treats Kyle's infected wound at home, but the young potential father cares only for saving his (or Ash's) baby at all cost, hell-bent on his possibly only shot at a family. After a mediation attempt by the Palmers escalates into a shouting match with Ash, Kyle collapses at home, unnoticed. Chris's team meanwhile finishes the shirtless dinner preparations.

Marilyn's matchmaking merely causes awkwardness between Chris and Hannah, resulting in Hannah avoiding Chris until he puts her straight. Kat informs Ricky that Kyle missed his bail check-in and she finds him collapsed. Nate feels guilty for not making him come to hospital but finds a contrived reason to go topless anyway. Psychotic arsonist Hunter is back in the Bay, running rings round twisted parent Charlotte, and decides to prove what a scumbag he is by ruining Zac and Leah's fundraiser.

After wasting half the afternoon keeping Hunter put in her motel room, Andi isn't amused when she decides to let him run to Zac anyhow, having failed to explain why she hid hid paternity for sixteen years. Although not feeling ready, Zac generously decides to give his soon a fair chance by hanging out 'casually'. VJ and Oscar works out Hunter must have been the intruder who knocked over Josh, but he decides to let the half orphan off. Only Charlotte worries that the unforgivable arson may ultimately come out.

Leah remains suspicious of Charlotte, while Zac remains blind to psychotic son Hunter's faults, even after he's made it clear what little interest he has in being part of his family, so it's left to Matt to warn him off. Roo takes Maddy to meet James, who manages to charm her. Stupid Josh takes another set of drugs which leave him feeling bad. He threatens Damo with the police, provoking an angry reaction.

Nate can finally administer Kyle specific antibiotics now the lab identified his infection. When word gets round that another student is in hospital due to designer pills like Damo sold Josh, he wants to inform the police, but Matt talks him out of sticking his neck out. Damo warns off Evie, thinking she knew, who now pushes Josh to tell Kat, but then claims he can't trust him anymore, adding a breakup to his study stress root problem. Kyle is delighted when Phoebe announces she's keeping the baby, regardless of paternity. Kyle convinces her to take a celebratory walk...

Nate tells Kyle and his relatives that he needs constant dialysis or he'll die. Sulky Ash drags Phoebe away from the hospital, then gives her a big sticking together speech. Josh tries to cut a deal with Damo, while Marilyn calls Kat on working out what's going on. Kat does a somewhat uneven job of talking Damo down, nearly succeeding if not for Josh being dumb and the police not knowing the meaning of silent running, but leaves her gun lying around where any desperate criminal can snatch it up. Half of Summer Bay arrive outside to hear a gunshot...and what happens ...

Hunter bluntly refuses VJ's offer to take a friendly fresh start, confident the 'real son' will win Zac. James joins the hospital, just in time to relieve Nate, who is too close to Cat to treat her major injuries, and finishes saving her life, at least for now. Zac promised to take VJ to basketball auditions, but loses track of time at Charlotte's.

Zac tries to make up to VJ by private basketball practice and gets him to invite Hunter, which ingrate deliberately hurts VJ and tells Leah it's only a matter of time until Zac dumps them for his ex and son. Chris is desperate to impress his 'perfect ex' with a hot date but can only get Hannah to play along, then preps her extensively.

Summer Bay's finest gather for the surf club fundraiser. Irene gets chatting to Greg and ends up agreeing to a date. Chris and Hannah do a good job of their fake relationship, but a thoughtless remark from John brings Chris down to earth with a bump. Matt causes trouble between Maddy and Oscar again with a brainless magazine quiz but the sweet couple soon reaffirm their love for each other. Manipulative psychopath Hunter continues to play Leah, Zac and Charlotte off against each other, but the equally twisted Charlotte plays the victim when Leah asks for a DNA test.

Things are still tense between Leah and Zac over Hunter and Charlotte. Matt convinces Oscar and Evelyn that they should hold an olive branch out to their psycho cousin so Evelyn organises a family lunch. It goes better than expected, despite VJ stupidly snapping at Hunter. Chris is depressed after John's comments and even an apology from John doesn't do any help. Hunter ends up hating Leah again when he finds out about the paternity test. Shortly after he's confronted her, Leah's brakes fail while she is driving Evelyn.

Hunter in enrolled in high-school. VJ and his mates are instructed to welcome their new classmate, but a fight with VJ ends up with both knaves suspended and Zac and Charlotte sent home. Josh, Oscar and even Matt are pleased with their grades. However principal Snellgrove decides to make an example of 'drug criminal' Josh: he gets an F and is expelled. John having failed to cheer up Chris, Hnanah is sent, but he grumbles nobody gets him, his clown act is a front to hide a shy nature.

Josh fears his expulsion wrecked his entire future, but Andy convinces him to seek an alternative way to graduate. Nate is relieved when Cat is released from hospital, but deeply vexed when she jealously inquires about his former relationship with Ricky, who seems to see ideal father material for Casey in him. When Irene treats principal Snelgrove and the Palmers to a home dinner, his obsession with marine fish tanks disgusts her, yet cured her of fearing to date at all, and she accepts a former foster child's invitation to come mind its baby in London, all expenses ...

Kyle suffers an allergic reaction to kidney dialysis, so he needs a life-saving transplant. James learns that Nate didn't follow procedure and reports him 'negligent'. Phoebe is elated with the baby's first ultrasound, which helps console Kyle, but Ash worries about his future. Nate forgives apologetic cat's jealousy, while Ricky admits to Denny she dreams of him as father for Casey.

Kyle's survival chances look bleak as no suitable match is available on the waiting list. He even objects when Ash and Rickie get tested, fearing another baby mat loose a parent is the transplant goes wrong. Denny finds Billie's note that Brax isn't dead and confronts Ash. Nate gets so bitter when non-supportive Kat adds 'I told you so' to her jealousy that he sends her home. James and Roo semi-accidentally graduate to the L-word. The lab finds Ash a donor match, so he can keep quiet abut Brax.

Kyle bravely bites the mounting pain and hears from Ricky that Ash is a match, but after a counseling session with James, Phoebe objects to her baby's possible father risking his life. Nate pleads his case before hospital chief of surgery Ben Dawson and James, who after a glowing speech from burst-in Rickie lit him off with a month suspension.

Hunter enjoys swimming and frolicking with Zac, gets jealous when he finds Leah expects him back, fakes drowning and avoids being examined medically. Charlotte believes him, Leah fears she's losing Zac. Andy and Charlotte meet, only to conclude their affair is doomed. Transplanting Ash's kidney to Kyle went well, but Phoebe admits to Ricky she thinks Kyle the better father, while she loves Ash.

Josh wonders who sent him documentation about an alternative HSC. It isn't his ex Evie, but Andy gets her to volunteer help him write a 'personal statement' to sell his case, yet the mere suggestion of dining together chases her back into aloof mode. Zac feeling obliged to defend the Kings as Leah and Alf apparently gang up against them, Leah throws the towel, declaring their marriage doomed. Marilyn manipulates jealous John into applying reluctantly and ill-prepared for the new school bus contract to detested principal Greg Snelgrove. Alas the men's meeting ...

Maddy, Oscar and Matt take it upon themselves to get Josh and Evelyn back together and, after rejecting Maddy and Oscar's ideas, Matt comes up with an over-complicated plan involving tricking them into going to a party together and then tricking them into going back to his for a romantic dinner. They end up arguing at the party and storming off, while Matt seems to notice Maddy's a girl when she innocently falls on top of him. Hannah has a similar realisation about Chris, with a lot of prodding from Denny, only to see him kissing another girl. VJ finds out about Leah ...

Maddy and Oscar are looking to have alone time in their overfilled house, while shallow Matt is suddenly having dreams about Maddy half-naked because she accidentally touched him. In the end, he alleviates his conscience by letting the sweet couple borrow his caravan to reconsummate their relationship. Nate and Kat return from their holiday having resolved nothing and end their romance. Hannah feels jealous when Chris gets a date with the girl from the party. When he asks her advice, she first snaps at him and then kisses him, affirming their status as a couple.

Kyle is recovered enough to be discharged from hospital and eagerly volunteers to accompany Phoebe to the paternity test. Ash is still sore from the kidney donation, but seems hurt as deeply having overheard Phoebe admit she thinks Kyle better father material, even if Kyle ans she insist that doesn't change their triangle. Nate and Cat aspiring to remain just friends, Rickie quickly overcomes his reluctance to become a couple again, straight on kissing terms.

It's court day for the campus drug dealer, so Josh must testify, and Cat, who faints just remembering being shot at Andy's. Despite Leah's promise to VJ, Zac duly doubts if she really commits to making up with him. Nate and Ricky are back on full-physical terms. He's happy to sneak out discretely, but Marilyn sort of guesses from his t-shirt and Ricky gets cold feet, claiming it can't happen again. Chris and Hannah also remain discrete, while Cat flees by joining Denny's Europe trip.

Childish Matt decides to deal with his feelings for Maddy by being utterly vile towards her. Despite Evelyn offering him an oddly sympathetic ear, it seems his behaviour has damaged their friendship. The news that Leah and Zac have broken up upsets everyone, especially VJ and Matt. Zac can't find anywhere to sleep except a school classroom, then gets relegated to living with sociopathic pair Charlotte and Hunter. Leah is furious when Hunter rubs her face in it but Charlotte overplays her hand by trying to kiss Zac.

Zac backs off of staying with Charlotte once her intentions become clear. Maddy and Oscar are still upset with Matt after his recent bad behaviour and his comment inspires Leah to fight for her relationship. Marilyn is being visited by Teddy, a "struggling musician" she used to nanny for, who turns out to be internationally famous singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran. Matt convinces him to put on a show for the town where Leah and Zac re-cement their relationship and Evelyn and Josh call a truce. Hunter has overheard Hunter's excessive temper even extended to arson, yet covers for grateful ex Charlotte's secret and convinces the knave not to throw away a shot a fine father like Zac by wallowing in anger. Chris musters the courage to tell Hannah their relationship can't work if she insists on hiding, so she finally proclaims their love at the beach. After the paternity test proves Kyle the father, Ash can't handle it and works off his frustration by working out excessively, causing his kidney wound to reopen. Luckily it's spotted by Chris, who alerts nurse)lover Hannah, while he finally applies with John for his life dream, becoming a life-guard. John is rather preoccupied with Marilyn freaking out to 'prep' him, advised by Leah, for the long-awaited official visit concerning the Palmers' fostering application, which however is compromised by her own 'kidnapping' incident episode.

Kyle and Ricky make Ash reconsider his plan to abandon Phoebe as 'father Kyle will inevitably get her back'. Hunter scolds Zac for betraying him and Charlotte for Leah and VJ, but now they stand their ground together, so the out of control knave exacts revenge by sabotaging the diner freezer, which gets Marilyn electrocuted. After the official conforming Marilyn's 'abduction' of Nicole's baby compromises their chances, Marilyn wants to abandon fostering altogether, but John persists to contact the supervisor, who agrees to visit them, with her still objecting.

Marilyn is eventually found by Leah and Roo and rushed to hospital, where James quickly works out what happened. Psychopath Hunter admits his guilt to twisted mother Charlotte, who quickly puts an end to his brief attack of conscience by packing him off out of town and covering up his latest crime. John gets the news that he and Marilyn have been accepted as foster parents. Josh is accepted into his HSC course thanks to a video he made; Maddy and Evelyn convince him to play it for the teens and it turns out to be a personalised anti-drug video. Evelyn seems impressed ...

Josh's celebratory mood turns seeing Tank, the worst ass he met in a largely unmotivated HSC class, shirtless flirting with eagerly willing Evie. Chris swears to keep Nate's secret, having been physical once again with Ricky, from ever-suspicious Cat, but comes to think she already knows and thus spills the beans to the jealous lover, who just missed out on Denny's European leap voyage.

Phoebe pressures Ash into joining Kyle babysitting Casey during their night out, but after initial tension they end up getting on well. Kat gets drunk during Denny's farewell and ends up revealing that Ricky slept with Nate and throwing a drink over her. Roo asks Maddy about moving in with James and after talking it over with Oscar she agrees. Phoebe tells Hannah she has cramps and spotting and thinks she's losing the baby.

Amused, Andy taunts the 'duo-fathers-to-be' Kyla and Ash, who team up again to assemble as crib. Nate, warned by Ricky about drunk Cat, rushes to warn her, is haughtily dismissed, yet she soon realizes he was right and leaves duty with an excuse, but finding him in restaurant with Ricky, again cries infidelity. Having had a worrisome blood-loss, Phoebe tells only Hannah, to takes her to hospital for a check-up. She's diagnosed pregnant of twins, one of which is already dead, the other unlikely to survive and even then unacceptably challenged by congenital defects. ...

Kyle presides over further preparation with co-father Ash for the baby, as Phoebe tells them nothing after her disastrous gynecological diagnosis, but Hannah convinces her to bite the bullet.Hunter returns home, apparently a reformed character, convincingly assuring Zac he realizes his father's other family deserves respect and promising to make up with everyone. Only Charlotte gives her son a icy welcome, despite his offer to do some chores. She's exhausted from elaborate efforts to dispose of Denny's corpse and pretend the girl went on European leap year.

Shocked about Phoebe's twins, one dead, the other without prospect of life worth living, Ash promises to support her choice, Kyle insists to fight as long as there's a chance for one baby, but soon comes round to the inevitable option of compassionate abortion. After a nightly encounter, nerve-wrecked Cat shot blindly at an 'intruder', lets Charlotte go unsuspecting but has to record her presence under police protocol. Back home, she apologetically makes up with Hunter. James takes Marilyn out of coma, triggering a cardiac arrest, which she comes trough physically ...

The failing of every effort to restart Marilyn's memory makes her panic it may never happen at all, yet she finds comfort in the early return from London of old friend Irene.

Kyle and Phoebe deal with the loss of their last child in different ways. Hearing from Matt about his affair with Charlotte, Josh warns him in vain, and finding his goldfish-mind already sexually ruled, tries to talk to her, only to scolded and warned off with her grim threat, which Matt also waves, while none of them realized her home is watched from a car. John is ready to give up as Marilyn recalls nothing during their 'new first date' in the diner, but pointing out their beach wedding scene suddenly overcomes her amnesia. Nate is back after standing by Cat in a family crisis but won't accept to move in, rather wants to tell her about Ricky. Maddy is left uncomfortable by the discovery that Matt has randomly developed feelings for her, especially since Oscar is suddenly back to being the perfect boyfriend again. Instead of discussing the Perth move with him, she confides in Roo, who tells her to mouth some platitudes at Matt which doesn't seem to resolve things for either of them. Andy decides to deal with Josh's condition by cracking on to taken ex Hannah. Instead of telling her to forget about it, Leah tells her to make a big song and dance out of telling Chris, who takes the news badly.

Tireless, Andi sits by Josh and finally spots a facial sign of life after picking up Evie, who fainted after another night studying aloud in hospital. Chris ignores Hannah during his successful lifeguard test, but takes Andi's cue to make up. Phoebe ignores Ash's sensible advise to dress conservatively for a music teacher position at school, even insults principal Greg an in feminist rage, yet gets the part-time job.

Chris cancels his celebration picnic when Hannah is called about the coma revival. Josh's tests are still inconclusive, so Andi fears he may still be wrong to object to euthanasia after all, but next morning Josh responds to pain. Onky Kyle supports Charlotte, whose home is vandalized, while Irene files a complain to make her move. Chloe makes up with VJ.

To Andi's relief, Josh is recovering well enough to be released home soon.Chrids proves an amusingly zealous 'brides man'. Phoebe gets suspicious about Ash's secrecy, snoop in his cellphone and guesses he's in contact with Darryl about baby Casey and Rickie, who overhears them while Nate awaits her to propose marriage.

After avoiding Ricky believing Darryl is still alive, Phoebe's bugging gets Ash to admit to her, only to face a breakup like Kyle for 'secrecy proving lack of trust'. Nate's romantic beach picnic proposal is implicitly canceled, but he remains patient. When the Palmers take Skye to the city as distraction her ex Christian Thomas exposes her pathological lies, but John nor pleasantly surprised Jett drops her. At Charlotte's, Ash stumbles upon suspended Kat, who intruded to search for evidence and found the fake Denny Facebook account.

Nate patiently bides his time, waiting for a better moment to propose, while acting as perfect father material for Casey. He invited Ash and Phoebe for a beach picnic, ignoring they barely made up over her wining that her nosiness now forces her to lie to Ricky too, while she sees no alternative as Darryl can't come out of hiding from Gunno's gang. Skye gets an unexpectedly warm welcome from mother Carol Peters, until Jett and John have left.

Andy frets that Josh hasn't left the house less than 24 hours out of being at hospital, so calls Hannah round to give him some platitudes. Psycho Hunter continues to hang around dull Olivia for no real reason and get in the way of her conversations with Irene, who is continuing to snarl at everyone because of her suddenly appearing issues and ends up buying a bottle of vodka for no real reason. Nate plans another elaborate proposal for Ricky only to end up dropping the ring down the sink and spending the afternoon retrieving it. It's left to VJ and Chris to notice something's happened to Oscar, prompting cruel ex-girlfriend Maddy to feel guilty even though everyone insists on saying it's not her fault ...

The search for Oscar has been called off but a guilt-ridden Maddy heads out with boyfriend-in-waiting Matt to look for him, then forgets all about him to fawn over Matt when he's hit by a tree and gets a bit of a bruise. Ricky finds Nate's engagement ring and, after a long chat with Phoebe, realises she wants to say yes. Sleazy Hunter tries it on with Olivia and when he backs off she goes racing across town to get him to make out with her, somehow unaware that Irene's an alcoholic and the bottle of vodka in her kitchen is a bad thing. While everyone takes an age to notice they're missing, Matt and Maddy choose the time when the boy they drove into running away is missing to start making out. Ricky goes through a catalogue of disasters trying to get ready for Nate's proposal but then he gets called away to look after Irene, who has cut her hand in a drunken stupor. Irene confesses to Leah that she fell pregnant after her abuse and the baby was taken away from her. Alf gets a search organised for Oscar as Evelyn is about to give up hope; meanwhile, the boy is lying on a beach with a mysterious figure...

Oscar's rescuer turns out to be Billie, who assures him she wasn't responsible for the fire. She summons Kat but disappears before she gets there. Maddy and Oscar have a break up talk, then she goes straight round to smarmy Matt to tell him she likes him. Irene confides in Leah about the child that was taken away from her then starts drinking again. A body is found in the bush and Kat suspects it is Denny.

Josh is still wallowing in bitterness and lashing out at tireless Andi, who get support from Kyle to get his kid brother to reluctantly accept trying a cane walk on the beach, but confusing sounds scare him off again. Ash finds Phoebe unable to trust him again and refusing 'not to come first at all times', so they break up. Kat keeps questioning the sergeant's wise instructs to patiently follow procedure and tells Charlotte the corpse will son be identified as Denni and DNA will betray her killer.

After his disastrous beach walk, Josh is too scared to consider trying adapting and turns on poor Andi who "isn't needed and convicted him to such horrible life". Phoebe soon doubts whether she was right to dump Ash, but by the time she goes talk to him sees him leaving Kat's caravan half-naked and assumes to be replaced. Chris proves still uncertain about Hannah. As Danny's corpse and luggage are identified, Kat forces the sergeant's hand by illegally arresting her but fails to get a confession.

Josh has calmed down and makes up with Andi. Charlotte accidentally hears Ash and Abdi discuss his killing of mob murderer Jake Pirovic and tries to blackmail Andi, but he's penniless and refuses, like Kyle who gives her marching orders, so she can only dream of Hunter and Zac forming a family with her. Irene can't stop drinking and nearly runs over Billie, who covers for her to Kat, who sees trough it, lets them off and pleads to stop fleeing at least from Ash, who takes his sister back no questions asked.

Hunter is pleasantly surprised when Olivia asked if he carries protection -he does- and patient when she backs down as suddenly from going all the way due to abuse visions. Andi has had enough of sanctimonious Hanna claiming to love him still yet only to want Chris. Furious Ash must be stopped from beating up Charlotte for setting up Billie as Denni's killer after planted evidence without DNA is found in her luggage. .

Leah returns and decides she and Zac should postpone their wedding but Alf, Chris and Evelyn join forces to convince them to go ahead. Nate's latest attempt to propose is derailed when Ricky has a pregnancy scare and then admits she knows about his plans. Charlotte prepares to leave town but instead comes back and hides in the bushes as Zac and Leah's wedding is about to begin.

Leah and Zac's wedding is briefly interrupted by a bitter rant from Charlotte, who privately reminds Hunter of his still undiscovered crimes, but the happy day goes ahead. Matt finds another excuse to sleaze onto Maddy until even Oscar tells them to just get on with it. Irene gets drunk and punches Chris, who quietly confronts Hannah about her feelings for Andy. Irene tells Leah she needs to find her child. Kat and Emerson find Charlotte's DNA on Denny's body.

The wedding reception sees Ricky and Nate get engaged and Matt and Maddy share a kiss. Kat arrives with the news that Charlotte killed Denny, prompting half the town to announce they're going to kill her and wander off on their own. Charlotte is shot and falls into the sea. Olivia tries to stop Hunter leaving town to escape justice, while Phoebe drags Ash to tell Ricky Brax is alive just to make herself feel better. Hannah tries to drop hints to Andy about being single but then sees him kiss Evelyn.
