Sharon has escaped from Jim and is hiding. People are searching for her now. Amos is concerned over the interest Wilks is giving Annie since she turned down Amos proposal. Trash tries to sell the stolen bottles back to the Woolpack and is thrown out.

The Sugdens call the police. Jim gives up on Sharon, and is questioned by P.C. Ball. Sharon shows up at home with no explanation. Henry gets a telegram from Marion to say Jack is not with her. They all assumed he had gone on the cruise with her. Trash breaks into the mill house to sleep.

Jack comes back to find Trash living in his house. He lets him stay if he will clean himself up. Sharon is being secretive, and withdraws all her money from the bank. Jim forces his way into her house and makes a grab for her money. Wilks and the family can't go ahead with the partnership until Jack signs the papers.

Jack is trying to write another book. He sends Trash to the pub to buy more beer. Joe tells everyone that Sharon did not come home last night and she withdrew all of her savings. When Trash has money, they think he is guilty of abduction.

The vicar had offered Amos a barmaid to help him out, but when he found out she was just out of prison, Amos refused her. Gossip around the village is that Trash has done something with Sharon because he secretly has money from Jack.

Penny rents a room from Beryl, Sharon's mother. Jim Latimer, the last person to see Sharon alive, takes an interest in her. Trash saw him with Sharon at the Abbey the day she disappeared, but he fell from a window and died before he had a chance to tell Jack.

The fire at Inglebrook has left Wilks homeless and Annie and the Vicar have offered him a bed. Jim asks Penny to go out with him, but she is hesitant. Peggy goes into labour with the twins.

Wilks gives Professor Winthrop one week to look for artifacts. Jack confronts David about getting a job. Buckley tries to pressure Winthrop to get off the land so he can start work on the pig sheds.

Buckley tells his bulldozer driver to start digging and pretend he can't hear the protesters. A girl almost dies because of it. Joe wants to sell his share in the farm and buy a motorcycle. David starts work on the farm today.

Joe proposes to Penny and she laughs at him. He storms off and goes missing. David and Gwen have a fight, but he promises to go back to work if she stays. Henry tells Annie that he is re thinking the pig unit.

Amos is rude to a customer, who happens to work for the brewery. The man takes a keen interest in David's art and makes a deal with him. Sam finally goes to the doctor for his cough, and is shocked that there is a woman doctor now. Sam wants to be confirmed at church soon.

Liz Ruskin has been having back pains for a week and finally collapses. Phelps tells Amos to hire Penny as a receptionist. Dr. Grant clears out his office.

Penny breaks a date with Joe, and he spots her in the pub with Phelps. Matt brings the twins over for a visit. Dr. Scott orders Liz to bed rest and Penny looks after her. Dr. Scott's father comes for a visit and tries to get her to come back to London with him.

Phelps has brought his press agent to meet David at the Woolpack. The vicar has been told he won't be getting a new Curate. Penny explains everything about Phelps to Joe. Joe buys a motorbike. The doctor comes to dinner.
