Des returns with his second series, and brings back Kelly Monteith, the US comedian who went over so well the previous year. There's also songs, not only from Leo Sayer, but also from singing impressionist Johnny More.

"I can see it's gonna be one of those '15-love, your servings'" says Des, as the appearance of double act "Lennie and Jerry" on the show gives Des chance to resume his complex, strained relationship with Bennett.

Des showcases the UK TV debut of American comedians Elayne Boosler and Dale Gonyea, as well as chatting to Norman Wisdom. Norman gets to demonstrate his talents as singer and clarinettist, and is challenged to tell a joke without laughing.

Ronnie Corbett makes his chat show debut, and is challenged by Des to tell a joke without straying from the point. Also providing humour is US comedian Kip Addotta, while there's music from banjo player Carl Jackson.

Des finds his role of interviewer redundant as Frankie Howerd guests on the sofa, not letting Des get a word in, and telling him "Don't try and hog the show!" Also appearing are singer Patti Boulaye and established US comedian John Byner.

"I've just laughed so much I've split my pants!" Des tells Harry Secombe, before insisting on showing everyone the evidence. Also on the show is the debut of American comedian Skip Stephenson, and musical impressions from Karen Kay.

Comedian Rip Torn appears before Des has even finished introducing him, mingling among the audience for some wild mayhem. Also on the show are Gemma Craven and Ted Rogers.

Actor and comedian Red Buttons delivers a wild list of historical figures who have never appeared on the show, while Val Doonican explains how the secret to his success is never having worn a bra. Also appearing is Maggie Moone.
