Because it's been 11 months since the Pieten have last been doing their work for the children, saint Nicolas orders Hoofdpiet to refresh their memory.

When saint Nicolas seems to have left his ring in Spain, Hoofdpiet goes into the town to get a new ring.

When Hoofdpiet breaks his leg a man pretends to be a doctor. He makes up the excuse to take Hoofdpiet into his home.

Wout promises to give the saint a letter from Hoofdpiet. Wout, however, rips the letter apart and sends a letter of his own.

Wout proposes to do an exchange: if saint Nicolas does what Wout asks him to, he will let Hoofdpiet go.

Saint Nicolas receives another assignment from Wout. The assignment is a concealment for Wout's actual intention: stealing Amerigo, the horse of saint Nicolas.

When the Pieten are distracted by his diversion Wout manages to kidnap Amerigo.

Four children find Amerigo in the warehouse of Wout. Jacobien is locked in the candy storage when trying to steal some marzipan.

When the children try to take Amerigo for a walk it scares when Hoofdpiet accidentally drops something fragile.

Amerigo finds his way back to the castle of saint Nicolas.

Many bakeries help saint Nicolas to reach the amount of candy needed.

Wout manages to steal the entire amount of candy made by the bakeries by hijacking the train carrying the candy.

When Wout gives another riddle the Pieten come to the conclusion that they have to fish in the canal around the castle.

The Pieten have two hours to find the last letter before a rope bursts above it that holds an opened bottle of oil making the letter unreadable.

Jaap and Jacobien arrive too late in the basement and the letter is smudged.

Saint Nicolas goes searching with Jacobien and Jaap but the search for Hoofdpiet seems to lead to nothing.

The three friends find Hoofdpiet in a brick factory but are unable to enter the room that contains Hoofdpiet.

In a team effort the Pieten succeed in retrieving Hoofdpiet and return to Slot Marsepeinstein.

Sinterklaas and Hoofdpiet go back to the brick factory to find Wout.

Not only Hoofdpiet but also Fleur has seen that Wout can be a good guy. Fleur thinks of a way that Wout can make up for the trouble and the saint accepts.
