Piet buries his wife Agneta with whom he has been under the roof with for forty years and now hopes to finally be able to enjoy life. He leaves Harderwijk and moves in with his son Erik and his wife Catharina in Amsterdam.

Piet hopes to inherit a lot of money from his wife Agneta, but unfortunately she has donated everything to the Dolfinarium. Now Piet has to look for work and Cath proposes to work for Erik.

Cath wants to force Erik to evict his father by refusing to have sex with him.

Cath and Erik are going to Paris for a week, but unfortunately have to take Piet with them.

Fred, a friend of Piet's, moves in with his daughter, but is not allowed to take his dog Lady with him. Piet would like to take care of the dog, but Cath and Erik don't allow it.

Piet spoils a pleasant evening and Cath therefore decides to go back to her mother.

Erik and Cath hear that her mother is looking for a tenant for a room and hope to get rid of Dad.

Cath is suffering from prenatal depression and on top of that, Erik has to persuade an old flame to take part in a promotion by going out to dinner with her.

Cath and Erik become charmed by rural life and want to buy a farm with Piet's money.

Piet seduces the wife of a jealous bundle of muscles and Cath suddenly has to give birth.

Piet meets Frits at the funeral of an old friend and after an argument with Cath decides to move in with him.

Piet buys an old car from Bert and asks Erik to teach him how to drive.

Cath and Erik want to sell Piet's correspondence with celebrities while he is in hospital.
