A Halloween battle begins with real blood and fake eyeballs in the first round. Later, seafood that's shaped like a coffin is used in entrées; and a ghostly drink and some chocolate creepy crawlies are found in the dessert baskets.

Four chefs, who also work as fashion models, compete. Among the ingredients they have to work with are tuna, kale chips, seeds, something frozen and a crunchy food.

Chefs who operate food trucks compete. Included: Chinese and Greek cuisines collide in the appetizer round; entrée baskets contain a classic American street food and a fun-to-say Korean dish; and an unripe fruit and much loved sweet spread are used to make desserts.

Veterans of the U.S. armed forces face off in challenges, in which they must create original dishes, using scalloped potatoes, pre-cooked meatloaf and a sweet and tart drink.

Four pastry chefs compete in rounds featuring chocolate, candy and cake creations. Basket ingredients include Mississippi mud pie, cherries, something bubbly and something crispy, and finally, rice and avocados.

Pairs of mothers and daughters-in-law compete. In the appetizer round, a boozy accessory and standard leftover are part of the challenge; odd eggs and mashed potatoes are turned into entrées; and the dessert baskets hold a subtropical fruit.

Grandpas compete. Mystery baskets contain a breakfast starch and classic soda fountain choice in the appetizer round; beef and peanut butter taffy bites are used to make dinner; and confusion strikes one of the contestants, when creating dessert out of a honey pie and fresh fruit.

A mom, dad, son and aunt, who work in the same restaurant, compete against each other. In the first round, there's a grill pan takeover. Later, chicken breasts seem like an easy entrée ingredient; and desserts are made using dried fruit.
