Jim was relieved when the body in the morgue wasn't Pat. Mary was distraught when she realized the police have written Pat off as being dead. Janet told Jim about Pat's talk of suicide and accidentally revealed Pat was upset by John's kiss. Lee was considerate with Jim, who didn't approach John about his feelings for Pat. Liz's insensitive remarks regarding Pat enraged Mary who blamed her and screamed that she regretted not telling Liz to get out.

Dru pitied John's complete physical and emotional exhaustion after searching for Pat. John admitted to Dru his fears that Pat might take her own life. Later, John apologized to Lee for losing his temper.
