A Valentine's Day edition includes romance novelist Barbara Cartland, and newlyweds Bertice Reading and Phillip Tutton.

Ahead of the new series of "Whicker's World" beginning that evening, Terry chats to its presenter, Alan Whicker. Among the other guests is Adam Ant, discussing his move into acting and his return to music.

Terry has a busy Friday night with a massive array of guests: Peter Ustinov, Ruby Turner, David Graveney, Mike Gatting and the Cusack sisters.

Times move on, and it's long overdue that former disc jockey Terry Wogan learned how to scratch records. Unfortunately for his tutor, Cutmaster Swift, Terry takes the title literally. Among the other guests is Andrew Ridgeley.

Once again it's time to hear the finalists competing to represent the UK in 1990's Eurovision Song Contest, beginning with Kelly and Stephen Lee Garden. Also on the show are Frazer Hines, Jenny Agutter and Ray Caruana.

Terry presents two more possible entries for the UK's Eurovision entry, including the one that eventually got chosen: 15-year-old Emma with "Give a Little Love Back to the World". Also appearing are Paul Nicholas and Anthony Newley.

David Frost steps in as a fill-in host after the death of Terry Wogan's mother. Among the guests speaking to David is singer and actress Grace Jones, while there's another two entries for the UK's "Song For Europe".

Terry returns to the show with guests including Frankie Howerd, plus the final two possible UK entries for Eurovision.

David Frost talks to Terry about the release of Pathe newsreels onto video, while Tony Bennett performs songs and discusses his current UK tour. Also on the show is Frank Evans, a businessman who has a summer job as a matador.

Terry's guests are Englebert Humperdinck, Princess Margareta of Romania and Nigel Benn. Yet perhaps stealing the limelight is a glimpse of the Argyle Library Egg, which is worth £7 million.

Ursula Andress discusses how no one thought "Dr. No" would be a particular hit, and how she's put enjoyment of life ahead of work. Also appearing are the first all-female crew to win the Whitbread Round The World Race.

Billy Idol's in a disruptive mood as he talks about liking "porn", develops an obsession with Jonathan Ross's off-screen cue cards, and demands to know "Are you looking at my balls or something?" Adding to the chaos is Norman Wisdom.

Jonathan Ross meets Richard Harris and American comic duo Mack and Jamie. Also on the show are Bananarama, performing their new track "Only Your Love".

Jonathan introduces bestselling author Erica Jong and group En Vogue, but perhaps drawing the most attention is Myrtle Young, who shows some of her collection of crisps that look like famous people - a collection wanted by two US museums.

Jonathan Ross chats to three ladies who have set up their own specialised dating agencies, including "Plump Partners" for plus-sized women. Also on the show is Bob Geldof, while Wet Wet Wet sing their new double A Side.

In the twelfth and final episode of Wogan he would cover as a guest host, Jonathan Ross signs off with Rita Rudner, Dave Stewart, Jack Dee and gossip columnist Cindy Adams.

Terry returns to chat with Avtar Lit, the owner of Britain's first legal Asian radio station, and Alex Saddington, who received third prize at the "Best of British Youth" awards. Also appearing are double act Sweeney and Steen.

Mariah Carey performs her single "Vision of Love", while among the guests chatting to Terry are Janet Suzman and Julian Pettifer.

Liam Neeson talks about his Irish upbringing, how he got into acting, and his life in Hollywood. Also on the show are Louis Malle, Captain Mark Phillips and Duran Duran.

The Human League are in the studio to perform their new single "Heart Like A Wheel", while Terry chats with actor José Ferrer, and Spencer Trethewy, a teenage tycoon who has provided £200,000 to save his local football team, Aldershot.

"I'm an overnight success who only took forty-five years to make it" best-selling author Rosamunde Pilcher tells Terry. Also chatting on the sofa are Melvyn Bragg and Nigel Planer.

Terry is joined by Elizabeth Welch, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Alan Bleasdale.

Ray Bradbury discusses whether aliens exist, how Steven Spielberg likes to call him "papa", and how Fahrenheit 451 was "a warning". Also appearing are Michelle Collins, and Prefab Sprout with their new single, "Looking For Atlantis".

Featuring one of Wogan's most unforgettable interviews, as Nicolas Cage enters the show with somersaults, karate kicks, throwing money at the audience and taking off his shirt. As Terry remarks, "understatement's the watch-word tonight".

Alison Steadman talks about her role in the upcoming "News Hounds", while Val Lehman and Amanda Muggleton talk about the popularity of "Prisoner: Cell Block H". Music is provided by David Essex.

"It's a silly name, Fay Wray, isn't it?" asks Terry bluntly, as the star of King Kong discusses the impact of the movie. Also on the show are Anthony and Frances Toto, plus the two stars of "Birds of a Feather".

The first of two episodes to look at the current state of education in Britain, featuring a discussion with parents, teachers and guests Baroness Tessa Blackstone and Margaret Morrissey.

Terry talks about the standard of schooling with John MacGregor, the secretary of state for Education, but the audience are restless with a lack of clear answers. Also appearing are Jason Connery and Hall and Oates.

Ernie Wise joins Terry to discuss his long-running partnership with Eric Morecambe, and some anecdotes about the shows they made together.

Arguably the most controversial and most-discussed episode of Wogan, as George Best is interviewed while intoxicated. Terry would later regard the experience as all that Wogan "will ever be remembered for".

Guests are Kirk Douglas, Kate O'Mara and George Foreman, just four days away from another fight in his comeback. But all the media want to talk about is the George Best incident, with Terry apologising for it at the start of the show.

With the fortieth anniversary of Noddy, Terry meets the person given the task of "cleaning up" the books - Stella Maidment. Also on the show are Maeve Binchy and Frances Ruffelle.

Guests include David Attenborough, and the boys from the "Paradise Club", Don Henderson and Leslie Grantham.

"The lights are going out now, all over Europe" jokes Terry as the studio is accidentally plunged into darkness. Braving the lack of light with him are Robert Wagner, Jim Davidson and the Pet Shop Boys.

In the first of three shows where Terry goes to Hollywood, he speaks to movie star Harrison Ford.

Zsa Zsa Gabor joins Terry after her recent community service, and insists upon her Shih Tzu being given a place on Terry's table. Years later Terry would claim of Zsa Zsa and her dog that "it was hard to tell who was the more barking".

Terry finishes off his week in Hollywood by meeting Bob Hope at the NBC Studios in Burbank.

After Terry's foray into Hollywood, Sue Lawley provides holiday cover for two weeks. Among her first guests are stars from "Ghost", Whoopi Goldberg and Demi Moore.

Russ Abbot and co. preview their stage tour, with Russ discussing new character, masochist "Moby Dick", Lisa Maxwell revealing she once wet a bed on stage, and Bella Emberg justifying being called "fat": "It's comedy, and it's wonderful!"
