Wizards vs. Aliens

Benny and Tom are perplexed by the odd reactions of their teacher Mr Fisher and their classmates after visiting Room 12, a seemingly ordinary photo-copying room. Eventually they discover that the room has been turned into a giant work-place and that the pupils, teacher and Tom's father have become a zombie labour force, thanks to the Prospector, who works for the inter-galactic Consolidation, and who plans to harness their brain power to drill to the Earth's core and remove the fusion sphere, causing the total collapse of the planet.

Whilst Benny flees the Prospector to alert Ursula Tom strikes up a risky alliance with Varg and his new bride, power hungry Lady Lyzera, who want the Earth saved so that they can pillage its magic. They return him to Earth but he is too afraid of his powers to send the Prospector back to his home planet. Ursula has no such fears and casts a spell which makes the Prospector fall in love with her, thus causing a diversion whilst Benny and Tom free the captives, destroy the drill and revert Room 12 back to its mundane original form.

Wizard Eva Starling alerts Ursula to a huge crater in the woods and believes that hostile magical beings are trying to slip through from the Netherside. In fact it is a Nekross ship, which has crashed releasing dozens of tracker bugs which hunt down and imprison wizards, Eva included, on their ship. Tom is suspicious when Benny is invited to assist eccentric scientist Adam Wright at the Brock Mill radio telescope and with good cause as Adam is a disguise for Nekross Jathro, who wants to prove his superiority to Varg and destroy the Earth.

As Jathro activates the telescope, creating a quantum storm, Varg and Lyzera arrive and take Michael prisoner. Since pure magic alone cannot work against the aliens Ursula creates a spell in which Benny's mind enters Tom's body in order to give him the technical know-how to over-ride both the telescope - whose aim is to eradicate all humans so that only wizards remain and can be easily detected - and disable the tracker bugs. Mission accomplished they find that Eva has freed herself and the other captive wizards but Tom is sad to say goodbye to Benny as he goes off to...

School-friend Katie seeks Tom's help after her grandfather Gilbert has encountered an ugly witch in the deserted theatre he is trying to restore. The youngsters investigate and, confronted by the witch, Tom has to use his magic powers, revealing to Katie that he is a wizard. They bring Ursula and Michael to the theatre, where they are briefly joined by a mysterious female journalist who disappears. The witch, Old Bethesda, demands that Ursula releases her daughters, who have been turned to stone for past misdeeds or else she will have revenge. Sinister shapes then ...

The group is saved from the monsters by the sudden appearance of Ursula's husband Simeon Swann, a wizard who has spent thirty years in the Neverside. Old Bethesda abducts Ursula, since, with Ursula's ancestor turning the daughters to stone, only a descendant can free them. Journalist Laura Piper reappears, hiding in a cupboard, after which Simeon and Tom save Ursula and destroy Old Bethesda. Simeon casts a spell on Katie and Laura so that they will forget events, unaware that Laura is really Lyzera in human disguise and she has escaped with a phial of wizard DNA.

Ursula and Michael are wary as to why, after so many years away, Simeon has returned but Tom is charmed by him, unaware that Lyzera, herself a sorceress, has infiltrated Simeon's dreams and got him to tell her about the key of bones. This device can lock and unlock the line of twilight, thus preventing more creatures from the Neverside penetrating the world to destroy wizards. To impress Ursula Sieon sets out to find the key, teleporting himself, Michael and Tom to Shanghai where he believes it to be. Unfortunately Lyzera and Varg follow.

The humans and aliens are met by the Quest Master, who takes them to an old castle where they must follow clues to find the key of bones. Playing dirty as ever the Nekross imprison their rivals but Ursula uses a love spell which allows her to reach and free her relatives. Tom finds the key but Lyzera steals part of it. Simeon volunteers to return to the Neverland to do what he can to heal the breach but, back on the Nekross ship,Varg is appalled to find that Lyzera is a sorceress who has cloned a complete key and means to use it for single-handed world domination.

Years ago Randal Moon witnessed a fight in the Neverworld between Ursula's ancestor Caractacus Crowe and the evil Warlock. Now Caractacus appears to Moon and bids him prevent the key of bones being used to release Warlock from the Neverworls. Varg is shocked to find that Lyzera has cloned a copy of the key in order to release Warlock for his magic and summons Tom's help but Moon,Tom and annoying schoolgirl Jazz are captured by Lyzera and forced to watch as she releases Warlock who is bent on revenge and destruction.

With the help of Jazz Tom manages to get Warlock back into the Neverside but since Moon has left the Chamber of Crowe in Ursula's house its walls are beginning to collapse, thus allowing Warlock to get in. Tom is captured by the Nekross along with Moon and Jazz but manages to escape with the container which houses all the magic the Nekross have ever extracted from wizards in the past. Now equipped with super powers he is able to return home and totally crush Warlock, finally being congratulated on his success by the shade of Caractacus Crowe.
