Ben Arkwright, a co-director in the firm of Arkwright and Gallen, is having an affair with Anna, the strongly willed wife of Ricky Gallen, Ben's partner. Trouble arises. Starring Zena Walker, Kenneth Cope, Basil Henson and Anthony Dawson. Directed by Robert Lynn.

What appears to be a cut-and-dried case of murder of an aging onetime showgirl on Hampstead Heath by her lover is complicated by several factors, including a far more respectable paramour, and her insistence that a great inheritance was due her that nobody can verify. A police detective and a solicitor for the defence unravel the mystery.

It all began as a hoax, a stunt, a trick on the part of two cynical young journalists to spite society and thwart the Establishment. The idea was to expose the frailty of circumstantial evidence, and they planned to fake a murder. But the plan went disastrously wrong.
