The manager of the gigantic San Francisco International Airport deals with security and safety breaches in the terminal and on the tarmac.

A military shipment of lethal gas has been sabotaged by a disgruntled scientist as a anti-war gesture. Conrad must find a way to stop it before fatalities occur.

Jim Conrad is made responsible for the safety of General Goodwin on his return from a war zone. The military officer is known for a number of controversies and an assassination is feared.

Jim Conrad finds his situation precarious when some major underworld figures want to be flown to safety. Jim volunteers to take the criminals to a remote area where his life hangs in the balance.

Conrad must coordinate the landing of an airliner with a bad nose gear.

Jim Conrad suggest an impact study be made if the SST begins using the airport. This displeases everyone from homeowners to business people.

After the head of a charter service is murdered Conrad is determined to find the head of the narcotics ring responsible and end the smuggling of illegal drugs through his airport.
