Amanda and Busy are off to summer camp. When they arrive, they are horrified to find out that they are placed in separate cabins. Each of them find themselves having to get along with a whole new group of girls. A mean prank is pulled against one of the campers and it goes further than planned.

After hearing a scary story while at camp, the boys pull a panty raid on the girls cabin resulting in an embarrassing moment for Amanda. The girls plan a retaliation but, when it comes to the execution, things go wrong. The girls talk about their fears in order to get through a dark and scary night.

Amanda and Busy spend time with Amanda's dad and come to find that he has some French friends visiting. There is a communication issue because the boys on speak French and the girls only speak English. Busy is feeling insecure about her body and wants to impress the boy she likes. The boys have their own insecurities but the girls can't understand them.

Busy's band is getting ready to compete for a position in a showcase. Meanwhile, Busy's family is getting their home ready for a big upcoming family reunion. Conflict occurs when Busy's band showcase happens on the same day as her family reunion.

Busy and Amanda spend the day at the fun park. Each girl finds themselves connecting with a boy, but with two very different results. After the dust settles, the girls talk about what happened and boy's expectations.

Amanda has a crush and tries to hide it from Busy. When Amanda receives mixed signals she starts to think that her crush has developed into a full blown relationship. With Amanda's head in the clouds, Busy feels ignored and starts giving Amanda the cold shoulder.

Amanda is excited because Danny will be back in town soon, but when he arrives Amanda finds that things have changed. Preoccupied with her physical image, Amanda wonders if she can continue to be in a relationship with the "new" Danny.

Busy and Amanda find themselves vying for the same spot in a commercial with figure skater Kurt Browning.

Amanda feels embarrassed that she doesn't know about her religion because her parents are non-practicing Jewish. With her grandmother's help, Amanda tries to learn more and get in touch with her traditional spiritual side.

Busy finds herself attracted to her male friend, Jaime. She tries to get out of the "friend zone" with him, but things get awkward.

Amanda is about to turn 13 and finds a letter that she wrote to herself when she was 10 predicting how she would be when she turned 13. Preoccupied with the items and events in the letter, Amanda makes some questionable decisions on her birthday. She's ready to grow up.

Amanda meets Lesley, Mel's daughter. Amanda has trouble interacting with Lesley and seeing her mother's relationship with her. Soon, Amanda learns that she is not the only one having trouble adjusting.

When Amanda finds out that Busy's uncle is a magazine publisher she tries to get him to notice her poetry. Meanwhile, Busy finds herself consumed with writing a new song for her band. Soon, the girls begin to see that their interests are so different that maybe they aren't meant to be best friends.
