Odette and Pilou's dinner is disrupted by the incessant opening of the library door to their dining room. The setback resolved, dinner is not consumed.

Jeannot, Odette's brother arrives in Paris with his sister and his brother-in-law. Odette is very caring for him, but Jeannot's unabashed attitude irritates Pilou.

While Pilou is immersed in his crossword puzzle, he hears Odette screaming in the kitchen. She hurt her head and dramatizes the situation somewhat.

The vacuum cleaner is broken and Odette, faced with her husband's reluctance to repair the device, wants to ask Mr. Rousseau to retype it. Because according to her, their neighbor "does what he wants with his hands".

When he comes home from work, Pilou discovers at home, in his room, Mr. Rousseau doing DIY work. Pilou finds it hard to understand his wife's admiration for this "pain in the ass".

Odette and Pilou prepare, not without excitement, the arrival of the painting, painted by Horace Vernet, offered by Odette's godmother. But it is a monumental work representing a battle scene that lands in their small two rooms.

Odette and Pierre are invited to dinner with their friends, the Ducassou, and get ready to go out. Several setbacks will delay their departure .

After letting her potatoes burn, Odette asks Pierre to go shopping at the grocery store, but their wallet is almost empty. A discussion ensued around household expenses.

Pierre is about to leave his house when one of his childhood friends, René Tricot, arrives who has the annoying habit of borrowing money from him. In order to escape him, Pierre hides in the dining room.

After a drunken evening with friends, Pierre comes home drunk and Odette is not in the apartment. After looking around for it, he's more and more worried.

Pierre suffered from back pain while washing the bathroom and needs to rest. But Jeannot, who comes back from hunting, visits his sister Odette and his brother-in-law accompanied by two cocker spaniel.

Odette and Pierre prepare food for Doudou, the son of their neighbors, as well as for Odette's father, who suffers from a sprained wrist. The old man is more grumpy than the little boy.

Odette and Pierre assiduously watch the Tele-cross game show in which a very learned candidate participates. They dream of winning 100,000 francs to go to winter sports.

Odette and Pilou are preparing to celebrate their eighth wedding anniversary as a couple. Candlelight dinner, surprise gifts - But they can say goodbye to their romantic evening when their neighbors arrive unexpectedly.

For the first time since their marriage, Odette and Pierre will be separated: Pilou leaves the marital home for a short business trip. Odette and her brother Jeannot on her back, Pilou gets angry and screams in the apartment.

Mr. Rousseau, the handyman of the building, is in love with Eugenie a tenant. Not knowing how to deal with her jealousy, he came to seek marital advice from the Laborde, a model couple in his eyes.

Odette and Pierre are waiting for their friends André and Martine for dinner. But it is the Mérovets, their next door neighbors, who ring the bell, determined to show off their wonderful photos from their vacation in Italy.

Pierre is in bed, suffering from a good flu and in a bad mood. Despite everything, Odette entrusted him with a delicate sorting of lentils from Le Puy. The doctor arrives, himself ill and very clumsy.

Odette has decided to go for a stroll in the streets of Paris with Pilou, who after his flu, needs to be in the great outdoors. At random in the windows, she does some shopping, apparently unforeseen.

Odette and Pierre swim in full happiness, the future seems full of promise to them, the holidays are approaching. Thinking of opening up to the Doudou, Odette lets in a canvasser from the life insurance company Le Pélican, rather alarmist.

Odette and Pilou play bridge at home with their neighbors the Mérovets. Odette's dad, in the living room, comments aloud on his newspaper reading and disrupts the game before participating in his own way.

The big day has arrived: Odette presents herself for the driving license exam. To say the least, she's nervous. Jeannot, Pilou and Monsieur Rousseau plan a stratagem to help him pass the test brilliantly.
