Merel is busy selling the house. Erik and Chris have moved in with Lodewijk for the time being, who has not become any more cheerful since Claire's departure. Mees struggles with his exams and Lieke moves to a student house to her great relief. Dina and Tim miss Max, who is only home on weekends and Pip has to get used to the fact that her best friend is suddenly dating her brother.

All families make vacation plans, but that is not without a struggle. Max announces that he can go to Dubai with his host family and Mees refuses to go to his father in Norway. And when Lieke announces that she does not like going on holiday with Merel, Hansje does not want to come along anymore. Carola persuades Marcel and Danny to go to France for two weeks. Things are not going well between Fabie and Tarik and Mees receives bad news.

Because Hansje is on a cycling holiday with Chris and Erik, Merel is home alone on her birthday. Dina, Tim have a great time with Max and Bram at the campsite. The holiday does not work out as well for the Metsers family, but when they see a campsite for sale on the last day, Marcel's heart starts to beat faster. Pip goes to Norway and between Fabie and Tarik it goes completely wrong during a romantic weekend. Merel resigns from the Public Prosecution Service after a heated conflict.

Lieke puts the flowers out there and spends little time on her studies. Merel clears out the house and looks for a new job. Chris gets a new classmate, Sammie, with whom he gets along well and Hansje is deeply indignant when she hears that Merel has fired Mauro. Erik and Chris have moved, but Lodewijk still needs a lot of help and attention. Pip is concerned when Nina tells her that she is no longer going to school and Dina becomes deputy vice principal at Hugo de Groot College.

Carola and Marcel make plans for their departure to France. Tim and Dina decide to take Nina in, so that she can go back to her old school and that takes some getting used to for everyone. Lieke turns out to have a venereal disease and Merel bumps into social lawyer Maarten, who offers her a job. The bond between Sammie and Chris is getting stronger and Erik meets a nice woman in the bookshop. Merel has a disastrous Tinder date and Nina betrays Pip's biggest secret.

Nina and Pip no longer talk to each other. Chris helps Sammie to convince school management that gender-neutral toilets should be introduced. Lieke's study is not going well and the rehabilitation doctor urges Carola to keep taking it easy. Because Lodewijk cannot make it on his own, he moves in temporarily with Erik and Chris. Mees starts to smoke more and more and John and Ingrid have a hard time with the intended departure of Carola and Marcel. Merel is completely devastated when she hears that Erik is out for dinner with Hannah.

Merel has moved and is introduced to her new neighbors. Because Carola and Marcel have gone to France, Danny is staying with his grandfather and grandmother. Erik is stunned when his sister Gwen suddenly shows up. Because applying for a job does not really work, Merel decides to do a job for Maarten anyway. Mees's drug use is getting out of control and that causes quarrels and tension between him and Fabie. And also between Merel and Erik, when Merel has drunk much too much, it erupts.

Bob, who is coming to renovate the bathroom in the new house, falls head over heels for Hansje. Nina feels at home with Tim and Dina and has more and more trouble with Mees' drug use. Tim starts teaching at Hugo de Groot and Marcel and Carola see the camping adventure go up in smoke. Fabie bumps into her brother-in-law. Gwen drives Erik crazy and Chris doesn't know what to do with his feelings for Sammie. Merel tells her daughters that she has decided to stop drinking and Lieke announces that she is quitting her studies.

Because Lieke has stopped her studies, she has to move out of her room and move back home. Mees can no longer be maintained and Fabie is at her wits' end. If Nina breaks up with it, Mees will fall completely. It takes Merel great effort to keep off the drink, but Maarten helps her and the bond between them grows. Marcel is depressed now that the move to France is not going ahead and between him and Carola there is a big fight. Dina and Tim notice that Max and Nina are starting to like each other.

Erik waves goodbye to his sister with relief. Because there is no country to sail with Mees, Fabie decides to send him to his father in Norway. Lieke drives her mother mad and moves in with Erik for the time being. Maarten declares his love for Merel and there is a lot going on between Bob and Hansje. Carola and Marcel see light on the horizon again and consider starting a beach club and Chris and Sammie are also making plans for the future. When Merel takes a glass of wine for the first time at a party at the neighbors, things get completely out of hand.
