A talkative man is praised by all after he wins a massive road engine at the fair. Later, he struggles to get rid of the engine and ends up taking a drastic step.

Ishwaran is a lonely, tormented soul who tries to mask his feelings. He is troubled by the fear of failure and prays for success. In desperation, he decides to commit suicide.

Govind Singh, an honest gate-man carries around a registered postal envelope asking everyone what's inside, hesitant to open it and find out. After his retirement, he tries to express his gratitude by presenting the chief with one of the clay models he makes so well. What happens next highlights the plight of the simple and uneducated folk.

Ranga sharpens knives for a living. He dreams of making his daughter a doctor. One day, he gets a lift in a car and wishes his wife could see the respect he got. But the message on the car does not mean a lot till much later.

'Forty-Five A Month' depicts the story of a father who has to break his promise to his daughter for his job as he wants to give her a more comfortable life.

The adventures of a ten year old boy Swami and his friends as they navigate through school, holidays, cricket and family in the 1930s.

Swami gets a pleasant surprise while the exams are approaching, meanwhile the relationship between his friends take a new turn.

After completing their examinations, Swami and his friends go to the Malgudi fort for an adventure.

Swami wishes to play the hoop and asks a cart-man for a spare cycle wheel. The greedy cart-man manages to cheat Swami, who plans a revenge. Will his plan work?

Swami's life takes a turn when his school's principal catches him participating in a protest.

Swami and his friends form a cricket club and they have got their first match as the other team accepts their challenge.

With only a week left for the match, Swami could not come to the practice on time due to the drill class. After his attempts to make more time for cricket fails, he grumbles all the way and gets lost in a forest.

A cart-man finds Swami and takes him to the forest officer. Rajam's team loses the match and Swami is blamed for it. Swami learns that Rajam will leave Malgudi the next day, following his father's transfer.
