While getting ready for her big day at work, Valerie Danault, superwoman in the flesh, discovers louse in her son's hair. That means no school or daycare. Her ex-husband and his boyfriend cannot miss an important funeral, and since bringing her son to work is out of the question, she is just going to have to bite the bullet and contact her mother, to end their months-long silent war. Valerie's struggle to maintain self control and stick to her agenda transforms into a surrealistic slide into chaos.

Sleep: Following her dismissal, all Valérie wants to do is sleep. After a week with no news from her, Éric, her ex-husband, becomes concerned. He wants her to see a doctor. Knowing she'll refuse, he gets back up from a woman to whom no one ever says "no": Valérie's mother, Madeleine.

After a stay in a crisis center, Valerie considers herself rested and able to take her life back into her own hands. She has a plan.

Valérie has an appointment with officer Phaneuf following her arrest and the complaint she lodged against him. During this conciliation meeting, Valérie seems in better spirits than on the day of her arrest and even talks about withdrawing her complaint.

No one is an island: Now her weeks are no longer focused exclusively on work, Valérie soon realises that her life is a social desert. She tried unsuccessfully to rekindle old friendships. Even her mother seems to have better things to do than have a coffee with her.

Open house: Valérie is selling her house and organising visits. Madeleine looks after her son Thomas, who's been prepared for the disruption a house move will bring and involved in the process. Valérie has planned for everything except for the unexpected... Officer Simon Phaneuf's visit to Valérie's home has unforeseen repercussions.

Turning the page: Valérie finds it difficult to say goodbye to her home, now sold. It's hard for her to accept that she needs to move back in with her mother at her age... Madeleine tries to make her understand that it's time to turn the page. But can she?

Unpredictable evening: Kevin and Éric want to take Thomas on holiday but Madeleine won't hear of Valérie being separated from her son all summer. To keep the peace, Valérie demands that they organise a supper and all behave properly, in a family spirit. But the supper doesn't go as planned.

Small steps: Valérie feels that she has rested enough and it's time for work again. She gets a job interview, but on the same day as Thomas' best friend's birthday. She gives Madeleine the task of taking Thomas to the party.

Headlong rush: Among the sources of tension between Valérie and her mother is Valérie's father, who Madeleine considers to be a first-class moron. After yet another row, a furious Valérie storms out. During her short absence, Madeleine learns some surprising things about the father/daughter relationship.

A change of air: Valérie has taken a stupid decision and daren't tell anyone. Tired of seeing her daughter in front of the TV all day and night, Madeleine locks her out for an hour. But Valérie disappears.

Gradually letting go: Just to annoy her mother, Valérie agrees to talk about her burn-out on Stéphane's programme. But in the make-up room, she wonders if public exposure would be a good thing. Madeleine and Kevin find the lease signed by Valérie, which she's told no one about.

Clearing the decks: Valérie finally agrees to accept a little chaos and chance in her life. She goes to live in the humble apartment she rented on a whim. Her friends and family disapprove, boycotting the housewarming party. Meanwhile, Simon's wife Josiane decides it's time to meet her rival.
