Excelling at crosswords, sheriff Jack and Twinkly each boats to be the smartest in town and beyond. Moe decides to challenge them to the first edition of the 'annual' Jabaloe quiz, Vegas-style light. Joe reluctantly accepts to act as Moe's 'lovely assistant'. Surprisingly, nitwit Slampie also enters and reaches the final, by mere luck, against Jack. However cheater Jack is accidentally found out.

Sheriff Jack smells his chance when gullible Bessy reads in he horoscope that she'll meet 'her true love' carrying flowers. She wants it to be Joe, but he doesn't even seem to notice her. Jack plays his cards deviously, pretending she got an inheritance, but is caught out knowing too many details only a fraudster could know.

The annual cowboy ball approaches, so Bessy hopes that dream date Joe will ask her, but the handsome hunk already longs for his date with Wendy. Twinkly advises rendering him jealous by pretending a cool date, but everyone simply asks to meet her fictitious Bill.

Sheriff Jack tries to sell an old hen, but nobody is interested. Twinkly's story about a Las Vegas show bird inspires him to pretend she lays golden eggs, and cash Slampie's silver. Joe and mates realize the sting and conspire to pay him back by painting an egg in gold. Jack falls for the trap and uses twinkly as stooge to bid much more for the hen.

Bessy may be the worst singer in the Far West, she dreams of stardom. Twinkly claims celebrity can be achieved, without talent, if only properly managed by him to be striking. After a campaign, a demo is sent to a music studio. Surprisingly, the response is positive, so Twinkly advises a diva attitude, even turning down a dinner dream with dream prince Joe. Then it becomes clear, the contract is offered to an accidentally included yodeling recording.

Sheriff Jack is hell-bent to prove his boasting Bean Baker wrong, who claims his town win the Far West photographs competition likely every one before. He mobilizes the gang for a fun picture. The girls rival who may star in the center, Twinkly taken at her bluff to stay out altogether. As the only one who can handle the camera, she's asked to take the pictures, but meanly decides to sabotage. Joe and Slampie, whom she spooks, are invisible manning a horse costume, which accidentally yields a single funny shot. Twinkly offers to mail it, deliberately switching.

Sheriff Jack seems to be the only one who remembered Moe's birthday, so his allegedly precious vase gift earns praise and sole benefit of her famous festive spread. Joe and the others arriving later baring gifts, but klutz Slampie knocks over the vase. Attempts to repair it turn bad when Slampie starts spreading the superglue over his fingers, and soon the whole bunch, which gets stuck together. Only Twiggly comes still later, baring three identical freebie vases.

The sheriff prepares, with Moe as deputy, to drive his coach in the upcoming Far West race. Slampie assists them, but also agrees to form a rival team with Bessy, who plans to borrow her rancher uncle's coach and horse. Partly overhearing them, Twinkly starts the rumor they're planning to marry the next day. This arouses jealousy with Joe, who wisely rises above it, unlike sheriff Jack, who gets cheated.

Hearing about another town's famous delicacy, which Moe jealously refuses to serve, the Joe Jabaloe realizes they could have one of their own. Sheriff Jack declares himself sole judge -hence free taster- in a competition, everyone else can enter his cake, smoothie, pancakes - Realizing the others have delicious entries, except Salmpie's our cactus milk, Twiggly boast about an nonexistent 'Vegas Surprise', steals one of Joe's (late father's) pancakes and sabotages all competition by sneakily pouring some of Slampie's slur on it.

The boys train their tails off for Jabaloe town's athletic trophy race, with cakes from Moe to sweeten the win. Young hunk Joe should naturally win, but 'couches' Bessy and Twinkly claim their sports drink and merciless Vegas method should see Slampie viz. sheriff Jack triumph. Exhausted from training, the race gets even worse, with several types of cheating.

Sheriff Jack and Moe are both lonely, but despair about finding a suitable date. Joe and Bessy inspire them to attempt contacts in the newspaper and volunteer to act as their Cyrano. The date still fails as soon as Jak recognizes the crone, but the coaches realize they have been writing to each-other really romantically and mutually tick all the boxes.

When Slampie is overheard about 'becoming a father', the saloon gang presumes he suddenly found and impregnated a girl nobody ever saw. The sheriff wagers with Moe that he can resist eating any of the load of cakes all day, but is found among crumbs, so lost and must do as she says all day. The price is set as playing a baby for Sampie to practice on. Afer humiliations pile up in his pram, Slampie finally presents his 'offspring', actually a litter of kittens.

After a tornado reaches Jabaloe town, Moe provides generous hospitality for storm damage victims. There are no real ones, but the supplies arouse sheriff Jack's appetite, so he pretends his roof was blown away. Moe insists to give him the whole calamity food spread and even pushes Joe and his mates to serve the 'poor victim' on hand and foot. Slampie finds out the truth but is bribed with some cake, yet ends up accidentally spilling the beans, so Joe cues the others how to sweeten their revenge.

Sheriff Jack believes to be rich, having struck oil near the saloon, and parades in new clothes, expecting the 'paupers' to snivel. Joe isn't impressed, and soon discovers it's not an actual oil well, but a barrel, which Moe remembers his pa, town founder Lou Jabaloe, buried as part of a en emergency stock, which he as finder and his family as heirs can claim anyway.

Sheriff Jack parades his new stetson from Vegas proud a a peacock. Joe and the gang aren't really impressed, but play an rank hiding it for a while. When Skampie accidentally dips it in red sauce, Jack threatens to throw everyone in jail. The scared, embarrassed bunch finds Moe's washing method shrinks the thing irreparably and delegates Joe to ride to Vegas for a new one. The sheriff gets it just in time, yet is in for a dirty surprise after all.
