It's the first day at school for William Worthington, a 43 year old bank manager who longs to fulfill his life long dream of becoming a star. Although feeling quite out of place at The Jolly Theatre School run by sisters Annie and Dolly Jolly, William quickly makes friends with another new student, Humphrey Kulumbebwe.
