Ruben and Joost make father Bert admit their suddenly in-living step-mother Patsy and -sister aren't entitled to impose their own obsessive Household style, but he only agrees to limit it to one room and lets them pick the living room. Nerd Stijn can't just stand by as foxy airhead potential girlfriend Isa doesn't even understand the math homework questions, so he insists to do it for her. His bossy other female 'friend' demands the same favor, so feeling guilty of wimping out he insists to do the same for the brothers, which only Joost turns down, only to fail.

Joost invokes the Bloody Claw's obscure by-rules' anti-Ruben clause to prevent intruder Isa joining, but the others just form a new club, and demand from him a humiliating nude hazing. Bert fears his new marriage is doomed already when Patsy flirts with studly TV show guest celebrity Luk Alloo, but even planning a bath scene is just show.

The brothers find Patsy a disaster in all efforts at domestic work or treats, but Ruben forgives anything as long as he dreams of moving in on his father's hot girl. Joost however feels threatened, especially when she even joins the kids in the basement and proves a gifted gamer, so he uses the stench bomb meant to keep Ruben out.

Joost needs quiet to study, but Ruben is in the mood for noisy pestering. When Joost flees to the basement, Ruben decides to follow and gets father's blessing to claim half. he does so even when the club which excluded him meets there, and having chooses the half with the exit stairs meanly locks them all in.

Joost is fed up that the others join the parents' elation about an old-timer car which Bert bought and inspires fondly sharing youth memories with Patsy. However he teams up with Isa to try convince their parents they should break up and go after heir first lovers, only to regret the consequence would be the Vandenbroeck moving out, to the city. Stijn fears nobody will repair his bike.

A simple porn magazine suffices for Patsy to make a huge drama. All boys categorically deny ever having seen it, yet she concludes most knavish Ruben must be the 'sleezy, disturbed' culprit. Bert bribes his firstborn with double allowance to take the blame, being the actual owner. Joost gets wind of it and decides to extort his money for the whole gang, then drop hints to inspire a paternal confession. Abuse by the girls causes Stijn to vomit in the kids basement, which none of them can bare cleaning up.

Gifts from their exes to the kids make Patsy and trough her stirring Bert fear that they are reduced to the bully part while their offspring under custody's love is 'bought'. Ruben and Joost let Isa convince hem to mil the situation to the fullest by giving their parents the silent treatment. Stijn makes a desperate attempt to be cool enough to impress girls by studying martial art movies and pose as a superhero.

Stijn coaches Joost who was tricked into a challenge by Isa to prove he can summarize a classic novel in a single night, at pain of being nicknamed 'pety peanut' like illiterate Ruben, but Isa actually has a selfish motive. After Ruben is caught 'keeping cigarettes for a friend' and has them confiscated by Patsy, she can't resist relapsing into the filthy addiction she supposedly saved the knave from.

Stijn always bores the mates with stories of plans to ask dream girls out which he always scare away from, but now they chicken-dare him, at first sight successfully, while in fact a crueler game is played then even the girls appreciate. Bert has a hard time convincing Patsy, after a viewer letter to the station suggested her fat spoiled the program she presents, not to adopt an anorexic diet.

Stijn selected a movie masterpiece for the gang to watch, but the television in their club basement breaks down. Ruben only allows Joost to take his set from their room down if the gang accepts to 'service him' during the movie, and he makes sure each slave in turn regrets the deal, often disgusted, while the others must pause the movie almost non-stop.

Ruben got another failing grade, faking study, so Bert believes he's simply too dumb for study and arranges a grueling job as construction laborer. The only way out is to prove he can do the test, studying all night a textbook he never opened. Stijn accepts to coach him, but only old-style, a unique opportunity to experience respect bordering on base servility.

Bert takes his boys camping, supposedly to bond and make men of them. Ruben and Joost prove their cynic attitude superior to pa's traditional camping 'instinct'. Stijn insists to join the girls rooting for Kathy at female ice hockey, actually an excuse to make burly boys fight over the bitch.

The Vandenbroecks have mixed feelings when Patsy invites a camera crew to follow her 'celeb' family all day. Ruben poses as a slick player, in vain like Bert's attempt to make model airplanes look like a cool hobby. Joost is appalled that even his basement friends, who on Stijn's advice got paid for that, are replaced by showoffs.

Joost is viciously jealous of Xander, a cool band lead guitarist, Isa's lover and the rest of the gang's new hero, who impresses even Stijn. Joost's feeble attempt to talk down Xander's talents keep backfiring, as he ceases the opportunity to show off his diverse talent.

Even Joost is shocked when his stepmother convinces his father, instead of just making Ruben do his fare share of chores, to introduce a mandatory schedule with even more domestic jobs. Isa helps Joost sabotaging the system and getting her mother caught in her own rules.

The Vandenbroeck boys aren't into Valentine's day, but father Bert dares not fail to reciprocate when Patsy announces a gift, yet fails to impress, which is worse. So ever-gallant Stijn's attentions seem to win the lady for him, disregarding the gang's warning the mother is just using him, while a ploy is devised to force the couple to make up while locked in.

Joost is shocked to hear stepsister Isa gets nearly double his allowance, so he gets their parents to raise his, but after father Bert also gets an arrears bill from Ruben, demanding a proportional raise of his already higher allowance, a painfully cheaper alternative is concocted. Stijn's attempts to disprove the girl's claim that he's chicken keep going wrong, despite risks in public.

Joost and Stijn greatly enjoy water balloon fights with the gang, but even more discretely watching the girls strip down to underwear to dry up afterward. Ruben's rude protest to have missed out on the fun makes Isa realize so, and demand 'satisfaction' as if the girls had been peeped at, which the softies grant.

Joost and Stijn can't believe their luck, hoping to take Xander's place as Isa's boyfriend, when he's seen 'flirting' in town with a girl from his band. Even if their courting hadn't been hopeless, it would prove pointless, as slick Xander can more then explain.

Joost can't help whining to basement buddy Stijn about his lost chance to court Isa, now Xander is back. Worse, Joost's ill-chosen words give basement girl Kathy the intolerable feeling to be considered 'average', hence boringly unattractive.

Joost ignores Stijn's warning to keep silent about the basement gang's hopelessly absurd cascade of unrequited love, hoping to take Xander's place as Isa's boyfriend, which soon drives both girls away, indignant. Yet Joost persists to organize, with Ruben's help, a birthday surprise party for Isa. Bert soon looses confidence in his future with patsy as she stubbornly considers an offer from a Dutch producer to move to Hilversum for a greater career.

Joost ignores Stijn's indignant plea to help prevent the basement gang falling apart, caring only for Isa, who refuses to decide whether her mother should take the Dutch job or stay as all kids obviously want, in Ruben's case for foxy step-ma Patsy's sake. Bert resigns to the move to Hilversum which therefore goes ahead and Kathy switches allegiance to her ice hockey mates, leaving the remaining boys nothing but fond memories.
