The Barrys go to the movies to chaperone Tommy, who doesn't want to be seen with them. Kenny has a date with Emma Samms there. Shel ventures to the multiplex alone, and the staff are rude.

Mia quits her job to try writing. Shel and Kenny take part in a bachelor auction, where Shel is afraid no one will bid on him and Kenny has a mishap with apricots.

To satisfy Tommy's need for privacy, he Barrys build him a tree house with a view of the neighbors' second-floor bedroom window. Said neighbors leave their Venetian blinds open during intimacy.

When Shel's car is burglarized again, he loses private photos of his celebrity clients and the Barrys join the neighborhood watch program in hopes of improving neighborhood security.

Mia finishes writing a children's book. Beth pressures Dave into getting Rolling Stones tickets and Shel claims to "have a guy" who can help.

Willie's Power Rangers-themed birthday party is ruined when Hurricane Ashley bears down on the Florida Keys.

Tommy is hit by a car while trick-or-treating, prompting Dave to flashback to the boy's birth.

Tommy's report card has an incomplete in gym class, so Mia talks The Barrys into joining a health club at a family discount. Outraged Shel claims that he and Kenny are a gay couple so that they can get the same discount.

Beth's sister breaks up with her beau and moves in with the Barrys' temporarily. The kids get mumps. Dave temporarily moves in with Kenny and wreaks accidental havoc on his host's life.

Shel's restaurateur brother Bobby has a history of taking advantage of Shel. Now Bobby needs a kidney from Shel, and Dave tries to help Shel say no.

When Beth doesn't hear from her mother, she sends Dave to check on her. He discovers she's been seeing a guy. And not wanting Beth to know asks Dave to keep quiet which proves to be difficult.

During a TV talk show, Dave expresses regret for playing a prank years earlier on former colleague Lanny Greer, who turns up at the Barry home as a destitute lowlife fisherman. Dave feels guilty for ruining Lanny's life.

The Barrys host a dinner party fraught with diffident guests, a slobbering dog, Eric;'s inept plumbing skills, a malfunctioning toilet, and a misplaced kiddie toy..

Dave and Beth decide to have a backyard pool installed. But cranky new neighbor Mr. Maxwell and a widowed longtime neighbor waxing wistful about her marriage both complicate things, as does Mia's idea to hire bumbling Eric to do the job.

Willie looses his stuffed bear and thinks his classmate Stefan Yosway took it, so he retaliates by stealing Stefan's personal organizer. Dave and Beth try to return the organizer to Stefan's pretentious parents, in return for the bear.

Beth's pregnancy scare becomes the topic of gossip before Dave finds out, and then he wonders whether or not he should have a vasectomy because two children are enough.

Willie's pet turtle dies and the family takes him to a pet store to get another pet and he chooses a rabbit. A foreign exchange student from France who staying with the Barrys cooks the rabbit for a dinner party that she is hosting for the family and their friends.

The men find out that a high school friend has died and his last wish is for them to sprinkle his ashes off the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. So begins the chaos for Dave, Shel, and Kenny as they fly to Paris for one night.

Dave and Shel buy a property in Orlando because Shel says it's the investment opportunity of a lifetime, but then they find a certain illegal weed growing there.

Shea's ex-wife Estelle gets remarried and considers taking Carly to California when Tony gets cast in a sitcom. Dave tries to console Shel by throwing a small party for him.

The Barry's neighbor is selling her house and Shel and Julie fight over buying it. Ken plans to break up with Julie but Beth is afraid Julie will get hurt. And Willie's recurring nightmare has a king in the bedroom closet.

The gang's memories of past Mother's Days involve mistaken homosexuality, faulty memory, the breakup of a circus trapeze act, and a folk remedy.

At a parent-teacher conference, the music teacher tells Dave and Beth that Tommy has musical talent, so they rent a piano for him to develop his talent. Eric and his father bungle the piano tuning job.

Tommy pines to go and see the R-rated horror movie The Decapitator but Dave and Beth say no, so he runs away from home and hides in Kenny's apartment.
