The hosts select the top athletes to compete on the National Finals course, including tag-team-style competition.

Ninjas take on six challenging obstacles, including two new ones: Walk the Plank and Spring Forward; the two fastest finishers take on the Power Tower for a chance to advance straight to the national finals.

"American Ninja Warrior" heads to Atlanta for the City Qualifying Round. Notable competitors include last season's "Last Ninja Standing" Drew Drechsel and former New England Patriot Tyrone Poole who will face up to six challenging obstacles including Off the Hook and Ferris Wheel, which are new to the course this year. "American Ninja Warrior" heads to Oklahoma City for the City Qualifying Round. Competitors will face up to six challenging obstacles including Diving Boards and Coconut Climb, which are new to the course this year. "American Ninja Warrior" brings the competition indoors for the first time ever in Seattle's Tacoma Dome for the City Qualifying Round. "American Ninja Warrior" returns to Los Angeles to kick off the City Finals round of the competition. Competitors will face up to ten daunting obstacles including the new Leaps of Faith. In this season's twist to the city finals rounds, the two fastest finishers take on the new Power Tower for a chance to win a safety pass. The safety pass will give the ninja a second chance on the course if he/she falls on stage 1 or 2 at the National Finals in Las Vegas. Stage one features eight obstacles, including "Roulette Row" and "Diving Boards" which are brand new to the course, that must be completed in under 2:30 minutes to advance to stage two.Finalists vie for a $1 million prize and the title of "American Ninja Warrior."

For the first time in four years a winner will be crowned on the finale of "American Ninja Warrior." A select group of competitors move forward in the competition to face stage three which features seven daunting obstacles; three new to the course this year -- "Grip and Tip," "Iron Summit" and "Pipe Dream." The elite few who conquer stage three move on to stage four, a final climb up Mt. Midoriyama, which they must complete in thirty seconds or less.
