A historian from Bolivia, Harald Somerset, is coming to Zalessk. He hires "black diggers" Viktor Starostin, nicknamed Schultz, Tanya and scuba diver Vanya, to search for traces of the Second World War. At the bottom of Zagaevskaya lake, they find a tractor, in which they find a tablet with a map of "Sonnentau". Major Volochaev is interested in these events. Local journalist Rita Pomyalovskaya makes a report on the "Sonnentau".

Schultz's team continues their search. Harald informs them that they are looking for a plane. In the lake, they find a chest with corpses and get rid of them. Volochaev hands over a tablet with a map to the city archive. Rita wants to conduct a journalistic investigation, but discovers that the report on Sonnentau is missing from the source. She goes to the archive for a tablet and finds a key in it. Rita spends the night in Harald's suite. In the morning she is informed that the archivist has been killed.

Volochaev suspects Rita of murdering the archivist. Harald sees memories from the past. Rita's great-grandfather also begins to remember the past in connection with past events. Harald reports the search for the plane to a mysterious stranger. Schultz's team finds the propeller from the plane.

In addition to the plane, Harald is looking for Anna Kharitonova. At Volochaev's request, the hotel administrator is watching Harald from the hotel. Nikolai Ivanovich remembers the events of the past and because this gets to the hospital, where Harald and his great-grandfather meet, they turn out to be old acquaintances. Vanya comes to Harald with a gold bar and offers a deal. Vanya is intercepted by Volochaev's men and taken to the lake, where the major is waiting for them. Schultz is watching this event.

Garcia arrives in Zalessk. In Harald's suite, they discuss plans for a bunker and eternal life. Major Volochaev arrests Harald. It turns out that all this time Vanya worked for Garcia, he gives Vanya a new assignment. Schultz is looking for the missing Rita, arrives at the hospital to visit her great-grandfather, the two of them go in search of Rita. Together with Volochaev, they decide to outwit Harald so that he leads them to Rita. Harald writes a letter to Schultz, who turns out to be his great-grandson.
