This is Butsch Schulz and Viola Delbrück's first case together. The unlikely duo are based in Görlitz, Germany's easternmost town. As they hunt for a young German-Polish couple, they have to put differences aside and work together.

Despite the success of their first case together, Butsch and Viola are barely speaking. Not good, as right now they are needed as a team. There's not only a serial killer at large in Görlitz, but also Viola's soon-to-be-ex husband.

Near the site of a corpse, the bloody shoe of Butsch's daughter is found. Emmy has disappeared, as has her friend Clara.

A woman has disappeared. Butsch thinks the woman wanted to disappear. Viola Delbrück, however, is irritated that her husband does not miss her.

Ever since she helped him arrest his archenemy Goran Tonka, "Butsch" has felt responsible for Sandra. Now her roommate is found dead. Slain in a deep cauldron of the old Görlitz yeast factory. It is worrying that the dead woman is wearing Sandra's jacket and that she has not only been observed for days, but also feels threatened. Is Goran Tonka on a vengeance campaign and accidentally got the wrong person?

Both "Butsch" and Viola Delbrück are very busy with themselves when a ten year old boy demands their full attention. It lies in the trunk of a car whose owner was found murdered. Ironically, at the old executioner's house at Finstertor. The boy does not speak, apparently has no relatives, is obviously deeply disturbed - and almost instantly takes a deep confidence in Butsch. Which is not exactly conducive to the somewhat tense relationship between Butsch and Viola.

"Butsch" is happy. He is sitting in the sun with his ex-wife Thea and is happy about the completely unexpected visit from Juro Schwarzbach, a mutual friend from his youth. Viola Delbrück bursts into this idyll with the news that the Görlitz inspector has been charged with rape. What sounds like a bad joke quickly becomes an existential threat. And although Viola tries everything to prove her colleague's innocence, the noose is tightening. By the time "Butsch's" police instincts wake up again, it will be almost too late .

Chief Police Officer Raaben is found dead in the parking lot at Berzdorfer See. Apparently very deliberately and run over by a car several times. A new case for Viola Delbrück and her colleague Butsch. But even two months after he was seriously injured in an exchange of fire, he is still far from being the same. Physically injured, dependent on aids and helpers, he is not interested in anything and has completely lost his combative spirit. Gemeinsam schleppen die beiden Möbel in Butschs neue Wohnung, frotzeln über dies und jenes, als ein gellender Schrei durch das Treppenhaus schallt. Der Beginn eines Alptraumes, der 20 Stunden dauern soll.

Ein Verdächtiger ist im Polizeigewahrsam gestorben, Dr. Grimm (Stephan Grossmann) deshalb suspendiert und Viola Delbrück (Yvonne Catterfeld) aktuell Chefin - von Burkhard "Butsch" Schulz (Götz Schubert). Keine einfache Ausgangssituation, um den rätselhaften Tod aufzuklären und Grimm zu rehabilitieren. Ausgerechnet in dieser explosiven Gemengelage gibt es einen neuen Fall, den Butsch vor Ort und Viola Delbrück am Schreibtisch zu lösen versuchen. Teamarbeit? War gestern. Aber dann enthüllt sich allmählich der wahre Hintergrund der Geschichte. Und den können die beiden ...
