Timothy is teased about his clothing when he starts kindergarten; nobody will trade lunches with Yoko, who is eating sushi.

Fritz blames his messes on a magical being called the "mess fairy"; Claude and Grace focus on winning a school field day, while the other kids have fun.

Nora learns to adjust to change; Charles becomes a school hero.

Lilly changes her ways when her forgetfulness causes her to miss fun things or disappoint friends; Frank #1 is out of sorts when Frank #2 falls ill and has to stay at home, leaving him at school without his normal playmate.

Doris learns that she is good at abstract artwork; during a sleepover, Timothy hides a stuffed toy named "Pengy" from the Franks.

Yoko plays her violin beautifully at home, but when the class builds a music tree for a school concert and Mrs. Jenkins suggests Yoko plays her violin at it, she develops stage fright. Thankfully, with the encouragement of her Mother and her classmates, Yoko overcomes her fear and leads the class through a beautiful spring symphony.;Timothy chooses Claude over Yoko in a team project because he thinks Claude will help him win a special prize. Yoko chooses to plant a cherry blossom tree for her spring project but becomes discouraged when her classmates finish their projects before her tree has even begun to grow. Just as she is about to give up, Timothy reminds her how hard she has worked and convinces her to give it another chance.;Grace wants to be the star of the Hilltop Talent Show. However, she is devastated when she hurts her ankle before the big event. Fortunately it turns out to be an excellent opportunity for her to discover that she can still make a valuable contribution by making the show run ...

Nora's fear of big and scary prehistoric creatures is heightened when the class makes preparations to go to a dinosaur museum. Luckily, Timothy recognizes Nora's apprehension, and figures out a way to make the museum trip more fun and show her that dinosaurs aren't such scary monsters after all.;Lilly's reputation for forgetfulness prevents her from being chosen to look after the class fish. She proves everyone wrong however, when in the end she saves the fish's life.

Timothy gets a new bike and his overconfidence causes him to try a trick he's not ready for; Mrs. Fritz creates a puzzle in which the pieces must first be found in a timed scavenger hunt before it can be assembled.

Doris is assigned as Lilly's "snow-buddy" on the day of the year's first big snowfall; Yoko's being busy due to her need to practice for a dance recital leads to a rift in her friendship with Timothy.
