A love triangle between Dan Sommerdahl, his wife Marianne Sommerdahl and their best friend Flemming Torp occurs as they try to solve murders in Helsingør.

As Dan and Flemming look for the missing baby of the murdered victim they discover Marianne's indiscretion, leading to a marriage-crisis for her and Dan. Their investigation leads them to people involved in hiring illegal workers.

Dan and Flemming investigate the death of a woman who may have been pushed off a roof soon after winning the lottery. Meanwhile Marianne mulls a future without Dan.

It appears the lottery-winning victim was one of many women targeted for their new wealth. Dan and Marianne's relationship causes tension at work when she helps draw out a suspect.

When a real estate developer is electrocuted in his Jacuzzi Dan and Flemming wade through the business entanglements, uncovering affairs, discovering another employee is missing. Meanwhile Dan asks Flemming advice on winning Marianne back.

Dan goes on a date with a co-worker to make Marianne jealous while the team zeroes in on the killer who may be the missing company employee or the dead man's partner or the ex-lover of the victim or her husband.

The team investigate when the man who handles sponsors for local youth football team is killed at the stadium. Dan and Marianne continue to navigate the troubled waters of their marriage.

The list of suspects widens as it becomes clear the victim was blackmailing a number of people, including the team's star footballer. Dan begins to realize why Marianne wants to end their marriage, and vows to correct his behavior.
