Lin Nansheng, a spy trainee, was selected to find the rat of the Kuomintang agency in Shanghai. He was forced to put himself into the cruel fight between CCP and Kuomintang.

A CCP spy was caught by the Kuomintang agents and then betrayed his organization. He exposed his contact to Chen Moqun to buy himself freedom.

Mu sacrificed himself while the Kuomintang agents were trying to arrest him. Through this failure, Chen started to suspect on Gu for being the rat.

Chen took Wang to the station as a bait to find out who the undercover really was. Whlie caging Wang in the hotel, two officers and a bank manager visited the hotel surprisingly.

After Wang was assassinated, Chen claimed his survival to confuse The Postman. He sent Lin to work for Gu to keep an eye on him.

Ji stopped the operation to assassinate Wang. Lin started to observe Zhu and was trying to find the evidence that could prove her a CCP spy.

Lin keeps observing Zhu whereabouts and reporting back to Chen. Meanwhile Zhu meets up with the Fisherman in a clothing shop.
