Albie's old chum Charlie comes around and old rivalries are resurrected. Catherine finds the two men dueling in the yard and becomes worried. She doesn't know Albie and Charlie are rehearsing a play that did years before.

Ann quarrels with her boyfriend right before an important dance. Catherine plans on Albie escorting Ann which the dad is reluctant to do. He decides to try and patch up his daughter's relationship.

An important advertiser at Albie's work has an artist niece who needs a model. For the sake of his job Albie agrees to pose but when he learns he's to portray a caveman he tries to figure a way out.

Albie is tired of being the last one in the bathroom and decides it's time for a bigger house. But even though it's mostly about finding a multi-bathroom home there are problems with each place they look at.

Albie plans on a quiet Saturday but Catherine intends to put him to work. Albie enlists Junior to help him invent a dishwasher that dad believes will save the family numerous work hours.

Albie surprises wife Catherine with secluded cabin vacation for their anniversary. They are having a pleasant time when children Ann and Junior show up as they can't imagine the folks having a good time without them.

Albie mistakens some pills for ones prescribed and ingests them. When dad discovers what he has done Albie imagines the severest consequences and creates an uproar in the house.

Albie needs some relaxation so he heads to his uncle's farm. But the visit is anything but restful as Albie is witness to an ongoing feud. Albie attempts to mediate between the warring parties.

Albie's Uncle George is coming for a visit and that makes the nephew unhappy. Albie wilts under George's barbed criticism, unable to respond. His family encourages Albie to stand up for himself against his relative.

It is Catherine's birthday and Albie wants to arrange a big surprise for his wife. But everything seems to conspire against Albie in his attempt to do something nice for his spouse on her special day.

Albie goes ahead with plans to build a backyard barbecue thinking daughter Ann is interested. He perseveres despite unhelpful advice and supervision from his neighbor Frank.

Albie likes boxing and is content with that hobby. But wife Catherine thinks he should be more cultured so they participate in various activities that should broaden the Morrison's artistic knowledge.

Albie is concerned about some extra pounds and vows to lose the weight. Larry gets Albie to try a radiant nutrient diet that cuts out rich food. But dad hasn't reckoned with his family who continually offer him the wrong items.

Albie experiences a series of events that make him feel older then his actual years. His family protests he is still youthful and becomes worried about Albie's mental state.

Albie likes a comfortable to sit but Catherine has other ideas after reading an article. She finds a new chair with a design to help Albie with posture but her husband finds relaxing is suddenly an ordeal.

Another round of bill paying leaves Albie demanding the family economize. Dad comes up with various ideas on how to save money but unfortunately they somehow end up costing the Morrisons more.

When Dennison, an old beau of Catherine, arrives in town the Morrisons invite him over. Albie is worried that seeing the successful businessman after so many years will cause his wife regret marrying him.

When friends of Albie end their engagement he decides to show them the blessings of marital bliss. Albie invites the couple over but it's the day where nothing goes right in the Morrison household.

Catherine reads a magazine article about the relative unimportance of housekeeping. She decides to follow the suggestions and spend more time with her family. Albie and the kids find reasons to object.

A talk with a neighbor convinces Albie that he is too easy going with his family. He decides to enforce some draconian rules, leaving wife Catherine and his children unhappy.

Ann is too busyfor her babysitting jobs and she agrees to let brother Junior take over. But the young lad doesn't know very much about kids so Junior calls the entire family for help.

Albie has a business trip to Cleveland and decides to take the entire family along. The train erupts into chaos when Junior thinks he saw a nefarious act.
