With Eddie and Sarah living apart, they each try to adjust to their new lives. But Cal struggles with his dark secrets, which threaten to destroy them all.

With Meyerism facing dire financial straits, Cal and Sarah attend a fundraiser thrown by the Ridges where Cal embarrasses the organization. Eddie goes on a date with Chloe, the old girlfriend of his brother Johnny. Hawk experiences a transformation on a 1R retreat. Sarah continues to struggle with the knowledge of Silas' manner of death.

Hawk goes to seek his father Eddie's advice (even though he is now considered a denier) and he tells his father while attending a darkness retreat he has floated and now wants to commit fully to the church.

Sarah and Cal learn that the FBI is investigating The Movement. Hawk and Noa grow closer, while Mary and Sean deal with challenges to their relationship. After an outburst at the casino with Chloe, Eddie joins a support group for former cult members.

After Sarah breaks her agreement with Libby Dekaan, Hawk is arrested for eco-terrorism. While Abe gains Cal's trust, Cal tries to uncover the FBI mole inside The Movement. Eddie & Sarah reconnect in the wake of the threats to their broken family.

Kodiak and Richard come to a conclusion about who killed Steve. At the same time, Cal wedges himself between Hawk and his parents, while Sarah and Eddie fall together yet further apart.

With the compound facing foreclosure, Sarah & Cal try to raise money for The Movement, putting the city center at risk. Hawk takes on a leadership role, as Cal targets Noa's wealthy mother. Eddie bonds with Chloe's son, unaware that he's being followed.

Cal secretly travels to Los Angeles, fighting for a big donation from Noa's mother Jackie. Sarah visits a dying Brenda, who reveals how disturbing Cal's relationship with Steve was. Richard and Kodiak force Eddie to relive Steve's death in his mind's eye.

Guilty over blackmailing members to pay off their debts, Sarah enlists Cal to speak at the World Faith Conference with her. Eddie has an epiphany about the future of TheMovement, and reaches out to another Denier in the family. Hawk grows closer to Noa.

Tessa confronts her estranged family at the compound. Meanwhile, Sarah's guilt worsens after she has a troubling dream, and Abe feels the stress of his undercover assignment.

Cal and Sarah's relationship is revealed to Hawk. Eddie gets beaten after trying to meet with his son, prompting him to panic and get paranoid.

Richard is cast from the movement after it's discovered he helped Eddie. At the same time, someone runs Sarah off the road. In the woods, Mary's in danger as her baby is ready to be delivered.

When Cal challenges Eddie believing he isn't ready to lead anyone, the latter responds with an audacious move. At the same time, Sarah decides whether to face the charges of blackmail against her.
