Physicist Jonathan Cooper lost his mother in a diastrous meteor strike when he was young, and he is convinced a similar event could happen again. While pursuing a solution, he meets Natalie, who proves to be an important piece to the puzzle.

Professor Baker denies Jonathan's "end of the world" theory, much to the physicist's dismay. With Natalie's help, he turns to unconventional and unadvisable tactics with unproven data, and we begin to learn how quickly fear can seep into science.

Jonathan, enjoying his overnight stardom, gains knowledge of a safety plan. The catch? It might not include the ones he loves most. So, with minimal money, he sets forth a plan to support his benefactor's family, Natalie, and hopefully his family.

Jonathan faces the music-and his family-at home. With little support from those who can help him most, he turns to the liquor bottle. Right as all seems lost, a visit from an old friend proves to be a potential key to turning things around.

Jonathan revises his theory and switches to survivalist mode. With tension rising between Emily and Natalie, he goes to his father's shelter to prepare for the "end of the world".. again. Strange news forces Jonathan to make a life or death decision.

With little time left, Jonathan is forced to make last minute adjustments to the shelter. He embraces the coming impact, hoping for the survival of his family and all of mankind.
