Marlene and Georg randomly run into each other in West Germany. When Marlene tells Christine about Georg, who can never return to East Germany, Christine puts everything at stake to meet him in West Berlin. Meanwhile, Marlene Christine's daughter Lilia takes care of her and meets Lilia's father, Alexander. But authorities have the two sisters in the spotlight. At the same time, the East Germans demand more freedom and more reforms. Heavy clouds are gathering over the twins and the two Germanys.

In the autumn of 1989, a new show at the Friedrichstadt-Palast premiered with Christine in a starring role. An Englishman has choreographed the show and the East German authorities are not happy. Christine's entire family is gathered among the audience, but on the way to the premiere, Marlene is arrested at the border. A few hours after the premiere, Christine is also arrested. The situation escalates and Marlene has to ask her father for help. After 28 years, he returns to East Germany.
