In the first show of their new series, Eddie's obnoxious behaviour in a restaurant annoys Magnus Magnusson, Al Jolson records "Agadoo", and Syd shows Eddie why you shouldn't offend the lighting director.

Syd and Eddie get a very rare thing in television - chance to meet a fictional character. Out for a quiet drink, they're interrupted by none other than Alf Garnett, eager to tell them how much he can't stand their show.

Eddie enlists Janet Brown's help to try to trick Syd into believing he can impersonate women. Meanwhile, Frank Bruno isn't pleased with Eddie, and Dave Lee Travis hosts a special edition of "The Golden Oldie Picture Show".

Syd forms a new double act with comedian Mike Burton, and it's left to Stanley Unwin to make sense of it all. Meanwhile, after offending the lighting director and sound man in previous weeks, this week Eddie upsets one of the cameramen.

Syd gets to play some more assertive roles, including a member of the Roman Legion, while Eddie manages to upset the wardrobe, make-up and vision control department, all at the same time.

Eddie's spent his last £5 to pay for Roger Daltrey to come on as a guest for the final show of the year. However, Roger insists that he's there to act, and refuses to have anything to do with singing - especially when it's Syd's.
