The final decades of the Song and Jin Dynasties. Two sworn brothers Guo Xiao Tian and Yan Tie Xin live a peaceful life with their wives, when a Taoist passes through. They invite him in for a drink, not knowing the ill fate that follows.

The Taoist finds out about the death of his friends, seeks revenge for them and wants to secure the future of their wives and children. In his pursuit for the missing wives, he comes in contact with the Seven Freaks of the South.

Two Jin princes, among which Wanyan Honglie, come to the Mongolians to discuss the appointment of Temüjin as official. Guo Jei and Tuo Lei decide to become sworn brothers. The Seven Freaks of the South finally find Guo Jei.

It is the 12th anniversary of Copper Corpse's death and his beloved Iron Corpse, aka Mei Chaofeng is seeking revenge on the Seven Freaks. Mu Ya and Guo Jing discover her plan and while warning them, they discover a plot against Temüjin.

Ambushed and trapped yet still alive Temüjin rejects the proposal of his sworn brother, stating he'd rather die standing than live kneeling. After a narrow escape, Hua Zheng's marriage to Doushi is expedited to form an alliance.

The beggar Huang Rong takes advantage of Guo Jing, but he doesn't mind. He is then captured in an ambush and Rong frees him. As he continues his travels, he encounters a young arrogant Jin prince who wrongs a father and daughter.

Guo Jin and the Taoist Wang Chuyi, take the invitation of Wanyang Kang to meet more martial arts heroes. They both very quickly realize that these are no heroes but villains. They escape a fight, but not after Chuyi was poisoned.

The herbs for Wang Chuyi are indeed at the young Prince Wanyan Honglie's residence. Rong tries to get information about the Prince's plan while Jing gets the herbs. However, the herbs are guarded by a giant poisonous snake.

After eighteen years Xiruo and Tie Xin are reunited, but their son has a hard time believing he's not a Sin prince, but a "lowly Song". Meanwhile, Guo Jing flees from Liang Zi Weng and falls into a cave inhabited by a ghost of the past.

Prince Wanyan Honglie rallies all his helpers and a large part of his army in pursuit of Xiruo. Even with the help of three of Quanzhen sect's masters the numbers and strength of Tie Xin and his adopted daughter. Tie Xin ends the impasse.

Wang Tie Xin and Bai Xiruo are mourned and buried and so the masters all want to decide on Guo Jing and Mu Nianci's faith. But Guo Jing resists as he has fallen for Huang Ro. Wang Kang has an identity crisis and Nianci wants to help him.

Huang Rong's cooking has spoiled Hong Qigong taste and he no longer can appreciate food from others. He gets baited into teaching Rong and Jing his martial arts for a longer period of time in exchange for Rong's cooking.

Huang Rong is kidnapped by Ouyang Ke's snake shepherds. Guo Jing and Hong Qigong search everywhere and when they find her, Jing is more than capable to take on Ke. While shopping Rong sees Mu Nianci and they "talk" marriage.

Hong Qigong finally resists his stomach and leaves the forest and the couple. Jing and Rong take this as a motivation to continue their journey and set out to cross Lake Tai, where they meet a fisherman with a taste for the arts.

As Mu Nianci sets out to meet Mei Chaofeng, she is captured by Ouyang Ke, who was there to get the Nine Yin Manual, but a masked man with a flute plays a tune he and his snakes cannot bear. He flees, but takes Nianci with him.

Qiu Qianzhang is exposed for the fraud he is and interrogated, but knows nothing of interest. He is sent home swimming. With him out of the way, the feud between Mei Chaofeng and the Seven Freaks is rekindled and Jing offers to fight her.

With Huang Rong gone with her father, Guo Jing wants to finish his task of revenge and seek out the murderer of his own father. But he doesn't have to go far as Duan Tiande is right in front of him and he has a revealing story to tell.

Hong Qigong takes Jing as disciple when Rong once again is successful in persuading him. Ouyang Ke fights Jing and delivers some striking blows, but with Qigong's coaching Jing wins and Ke is banished from the central plains.

Rong and Jing suspect Yang Kang is withholding information about his adopted father. He tells Jing the truth and Jing understands. Rong is a bit more skeptic and Kang overhears her. Mu Nianci and Kang decide to live quietly in Niu Village.

Rong is devastated by the fact that Guo Ling has been betrothed to become the next prince of Mongolia and marry the princess. She asks her late mother for advice at her memorial, but her father hears her story and gets even more angry.

Rong misdirects her father to try and keep Jing alive. Meanwhile Jing learns new skills, but very slowly as his heart is distracted. Zhou Bo Tong keeps the Jing in the cave, telling him he has no change to survive against Rong's father.

As difficult as it is to explain himself, Jing clarifies his marital status with the Mongolians to Rong and proposes marriage to her. Rong urges to leave the island before her father wakes up, but they hear Zhou Bo Tong's cries for help.

Guo Jing and Ouwang Ke have three tests to perform that will determine who is going to be Huang Rong's husband. Tests of cultivation, music and memory. Who will win?

The marriage has not been decided yet and everyone leaves the island. Guo Jing is banished and Hong Qigong tells Huang Rong to be patient as at this point there is no use in arguing with her father. Ouang Ke gets the map of the island.

Hong Qigong and Guo Jing come up with a plan to fool the Western Venom Ouyang Feng. Yang Kang is going back to his old tricks as Prince Wanyan Kang, Honglie's son and pretends to be on Mei Chaofeng's side. She plays along.

Hong Qigong, Huang Rong and Ouyang Ke strand on an island after the shipwreck. Qigong is still poisoned and Ouyang Ke claims he doesn't have an antidote. Ouyang Ke is already dreaming about spending the rest of his life with Rong.

With Ouyang Ke stuck under a rock and the tide flooding in, he seems doomed, but Rong comes with a reed to allow him to breathe. She promises help will arrive the next day, but it's a secret who it is. Ke asks his uncle something personal.

Hong Qigong, Huang Rong and Guo Jing leave the island on a much smaller raft. Ouang Feng tries to heal his nephew, but the healing rituals described in Jing's version of the Nine Jin Manual do not work and he wants to consult Jing.

Zhou Bo Tong having survived the sharks and won the bet, requests a boat for him, Rong, Jing and Hong Qigong. They arrive at Niu Village. Jing remembers the happy live his mother and his late father lived and the tragedy that ended it.

Kang is disappointed by his lack of progress in the martial arts and Ouyang's decline to take him on as apprentice. He goes out to drink with Ouyang Ke who gives him a potion that allows him to do whatever he wants with Nianci.

Rong comes back to find a heavily wounded Jing, with a knife in his side. She brings him to the village but hesitates to pull out the knife. They have to exchange power for seven days uninterrupted in order for Jing to heal.

Many temptations and distractions Rong and Jing have resisted and countered using Rong's whit. But now Heritic Huang has come to the tavern. After clearing the outsiders, he discovers that everyone is related to his disciples.

The seven immortals of Quanzhen Sect are setup by Qiu Qian Zhang to fight Huang Yaoshi. But first they deal with Mei Chaofeng. Ouyang Feng also joins the party, as Zhou Bo Tong suddenly remembered he left Hong Qidong in the palace.

Ouyang Ke decides to take his chances and comes out of hiding, wanting nourishment. Cheng Yaoji and Lu Guanying take care of it, but as he asks for more, he locks their acupuncture points and shows his true nature. Then Mu Nianci walks in.

The condors signal that Hua Zheng is in trouble and the group sets out to investigate. As Guo Jing arrives at the scene and they free the delegation from Qiu Qianzhang, he is expected to come back to Mongolia and marry Hua Zheng.
