Brenda is determined to be the first person on Jessop Square to throw a dinner party, despite having never cooked anything more than an egg. 10-year-old Emma's schoolyard rivalries threaten to upset her mother's plans though.

Love is in the air as Emma receives her first Valentine's Day card and, assuming marriage naturally follows, tries to discover the sender. Brenda takes her driving test despite taking no lessons and Jenny thinks Tim is going to propose.

Brenda and Jenny are determined to befriend Danish newcomers Lotte and Marie but discover the Palmers have beat them to it. Brenda and Jenny accidentally announce that they are a couple and that Tim and Tony are their gay friends.

Brenda decides the square needs its own version of TV talent show "Opportunity Knocks" but she and Tony end up in rival acts. In order to raise money to buy a skateboard Emma hires herself out as a spy for both couples.

It is the day of Tim and Jenny's wedding but everything is going wrong. Brenda and Emma accidentally rip the wedding dress, Tim is overcome by nerves and bridesmaid Emma gets increasingly messy. Can a whale costume save the day?

The Kennedys go on a camping holiday to Wales with 'honeymooners' Jenny and Tim and Tony's gloomy mother. After fourteen hours in an unreliable Land Rover they reach the site but with no toilet, heavy rain and gale force winds and one flimsy tent for the six of them they are forced to break into a caravan, jumping out before it rolls over a cliff. It is certainly a holiday to remember.
