When Dallas Detective Dwayne Thompson checks out a missing persons apartment and finds it covered in blood, he's launched into one of the strangest cases in his career--a case that he must solve without the victim's body. Chasing a trail of clues, Thompson and the Dallas homicide team are always one step behind their suspect.

In Dallas, Det. Rick Duggan investigates the murder of a young man shot in the backseat of his friend's car. While scouring the crime scene, Duggan finds an interesting lead--mail. He hopes this clue will lead him to the killer. And in Minneapolis, Sergeants Bruce Folkens and Chris Karakostas must find the person who savagely beat a homeless man to death.

In Cincinnati, Det. Terry McGuffey and his team head to an apartment complex to investigate the shooting death of a 28-year old from Detroit. A witness comes forward to retrieve an item left at the crime scene, but insists she doesn't know anything about the murder. Detectives must determine if she knows more than she is telling.

When a young man is gunned down outside a Cincinnati nightclub, witnesses see a young man running from the scene. Detectives Doug Lindle and Matt Thompson hope one of their witnesses can identify the shooter and help them catch a killer on the run. In Miami, a pair of one-year old twins cry helplessly in the back of a black SUV - their mother slumped over in the driver's seat, shot dead.

In Memphis, Lt. Toney Armstrong and his team respond to Memphis's worst mass murder in more than 15 years, where they find four adults and two children dead. Armstrong's entire team is called to action as they scramble for leads, while the local media follows their every move.

In Dallas, Det. Robert Arredondo and his team investigate the murder of a 22-year-old man tied up and shot along with two of his friends during a robbery. Armed with only the street names of his two suspects, Arredondo must identify them and track them down in a manhunt that takes them across the country.

In Dallas, Detectives Scott Sayers and Ken Penrod are investigating a home invasion that left a young man dead. Is their suspect just a young suburban mom, or a criminal mastermind? And in Cincinnati, a brutal stabbing ends the life of a hard-working grandfather. After interviewing a series of family members, Det. Jenny Luke finds out that her suspect may be closer than she initially thought.

In Tucson, the homicide department investigates the murder of a young couple in their home.

In Memphis, Sgt. Debo Carson and her team investigate the murder of a man shot dead outside of his house. The case takes a turn when a man investigators believe to be a witness becomes a suspect. In Dallas, a carjacking spree leaves one man dead.

In Memphis, Sgt. Connie Justice investigates the homicide of a man found bludgeoned to death in his apartment. With no witnesses to the crime, Justice must rely on the physical evidence from the victim's apartment to track down her suspect.

In Harris County, Dep. Abraham Alanis and his team investigate the murder of a man, married with four young children, who was found robbed and shot to death outside an abandoned house. With no other leads to go on, investigators discover that their victim held a secret that could lead to his killer.

In Tucson, a grandfather is shot after answering a knock at his front door. The suspect's getaway car crashes a few blocks from the crime scene and the suspect flees. Det. Bill Hanson and his team hope that clues from the car will lead them to the alleged killers.

During a family get together in Minnesota a car drives by and gun's down a teen-ager with no known connections to any criminal activity. Police wind up taking more then the usual 48 hours investigating this crime. Meanwhile in Birmingham Alabama firemen are called to a burning house only to find a burning truck in the back yard with a body in the bed of the truck; burned beyond recognition. The investigation leads to yet another house fire and some surprising suspects

In Cincinnati, Detectives Jenny Luke and Terry McGuffey investigate the murder of a 56-year-old man brutally beaten to death in the stairwell of his apartment building. Luke tracks down two teenage suspects and is surprised to learn what triggered the deadly fight.

In Dallas, a man is found dead in a vacant lot. With no leads, witnesses or motive, lead Det. Rick Duggan and his team must put the pieces of the case together to find their killer. And in Minneapolis, Sgt. Gerhard Wehr and Sgt. Jerry Wallerich are working one of the most brutal crimes of their careers--the violent stabbings of a mother and her 10-year-old son.

Man meets a woman outside, soon leads to trouble as police soon investigate.
