Neil torches the shack where the Fade killed Helen before seeking out Paul, who has had a nightmare imagining his family dead. They go to a deserted former orphanage where Paul meets the aged Eric, a ghost and former Fade hunter - or Angelic - who sees the boy as the chosen one in the fight against evil. Later that night Neil rescues Paul from a Fade who goes on to kill two school-mates who have been taunting him. The police are called and Mark, unaware that Sarah can see him having sex with a pick-up, tells them he has found photos of his ex-wife in a psychiatric ...

Signing himself out of therapy after successful sex with Jay, Paul is amazed to find he can sprout wings, and accidentally used his powers to literally shut up mouthy sister Anna. Still followed by the ghostly girl Natalie he goes to see the injured Neil, whose wounds he heals, Helen - now a ghost and about to pass over - and other Angelics, who plan to capture Natalie for more information on the Fades. Neil, accompanied by Sarah's ghost, visits Mark, explaining that Sarah's invisible presence is with her ex-husband at all times, getting Mark to ask Sarah questions ...

Seeing himself lying in a coma in hospital Paul believes he is having an out of body experience but Neil tells him that he is now a ghost and takes him to the bunker where the Angelics are interrogating Natalie. Perturbed at their brutal handling of her, Paul returns to the hospital where he meets John, the murderous and apparently immortal youth who has haunted Paul's dreams and has reincarnated himself over half a century. John rescues Natalie, killing all the Angelics but Neil. Meanwhile Mark is released from police custody, watched by a relieved Sarah whilst Mac ...

As Mac's father, DCI Armstrong, wonders why there are so many missing persons, the evil Fades increase in numbers including Armstrong's superior amongst their victims. Accused of betrayal by Neil, Paul, his family and friends and other Angelics find themselves besieged in a Community Centre set up as an evacuation point and Paul astounds the onlookers by his supernatural ability to kill Fades. The town is evacuated, with Paul and Neil - who has locked Mac in the boot of his car - agreeing to stay behind to seek out the enemy. Sarah, meanwhile, has been encouraged by ...

The reborn Sarah has some nasty habits - like trying to kill Mark - which drive him away with Vicky whilst Sarah realises she would prefer to be released and pass over. John and his evil Fades roam the deserted streets of the evacuated town looking for flesh to revitalise themselves. The increasingly obsessive Neil, having abducted Mac as a pressuriser on Paul to help him, shoots Jay, feeling she would divert Paul from his mission before he is shot by John.
