Paul Lee tells Jim Goody that an English bounty hunter called Cat Huxley had been slain by the demon lord, Valtiel, then brought back as a black cat. That explains why he was troubled by the cat in the estate, as it had been sent there to monitor their every move. Paul would rather not return to the estate in Dulvey, knowing very well that this could signal further trouble.
