A woman dressed as a bride is strangled and killed at the beach. Her corpse is left on the front steps of a church. The dead woman is identified as Mary Rose. Eulália reveals to Cinara that Donato used to be engaged once. Cinara tries to talk to her boyfriend about it, but he refuses. A man goes to the police station claiming to be Mary Rose's killer, surprising the chief of police and detective França. Cinara is surprised with the sudden visit of her niece Lucinha, who's pregnant and was thrown out of her house by her mother. Donato gets information about the wedding...

Donato buys Marilene's dress. Detective França can't convince himself that the man claiming to be the killer is the real murderer. Lucinha tells Cinara that her father wants her to get an abortion. Despite França's warnings, the chief of police announces the killer to the press. After sending Marilene flowers, Donato invites her to dinner. França finds out that porcelain powder was found in Mary Rose's neck, something commonly used by dentists. He finds out who the girl's dentist was and pays him a visit.

Donato takes Marilene out to dinner, and impresses her with his charms. Claudio arrives from São Paulo looking for Lucinha, willing to assume her baby, but she asks some time to think. The dentist Bacelar looks for França and tries to bribe him. Donato tells Cinara he's going to São Paulo and invites Marilene to spend the whole day with him. Donato and Marilene go to a motel and he asks her to wear the wedding dress. He strangles her afterwards.

Donato leaves Marilene's body on the front steps of a church. The chief of police states to the press that the false suspect was imprisoned as a strategy to lure the real killer. Lucinha invites Donato and Cinara to be best man and maid of honor at her wedding. França interrogates Marilene's ex-husband. Donato visits the address of a new wedding dress sale ad.

Donato introduces himself to Rita, interested in buying her wedding dress. Rita tells him that the dress used to belong to her ex employer, Kátia Sá Montese. Donato searches for Kátia in the phone book. França spends the night with his mistress and finds his wife waiting for him when he gets to the police station. Donato sees Kátia leaving her building and follows her with a rented car. He hits her car on purpose. After a discussion, they become friends and she gives him her phone number.

França tells to the chief of police that the porcelain powder found in the victim's necks is also used by art restorers. Donato and Kátia meet again and kiss each other. Cinara tries to have sex with Donato, but he repels her, saying he's sexually impotent. França goes to Donato's atelier looking for informations about art restorers.

Donato feels sick during Lucinha's wedding. At the after party, he gives her a pearl necklace as a wedding gift and almost strangles her, but Cinara walks in. Donato and Kátia go to Angra dos Reis. He takes the dress with him, but forgets the veil in his room. Eulália finds the veil and hides it. Kátia's husband comes back earlier from his business trip and decides to go to Angra to surprise his wife. Donato asks Kátia to wear the wedding dress.

Kátia wears the dress and Donato strangles her right after. Zé Carlos searches for his wife in Angra, and when night comes, decides to call the police. Kátia's body is found on the steps of a church. Detective França questions Zé Carlos about what he would have done if he had found his wife in the arms of another man. França goes to Donato's apartment looking for him and speaks to Eulália, who's intrigued to see a policeman looking for her nephew. Donato stops in front of a bridal shop and sees a woman inside, trying a dress.

Donato follows Fátima, the woman who was trying the dress, and tries a conversation at the entrance of her building, but she doesn't give him attention. He finds then the purchase receipt of Fátima's wedding dress lying on the street and keeps it. Eulália questions Donato about the end of his relationship with Cinara. Fátima's father doesn't seem to approve her engagement to Adilson. Donato calls Fátima telling her that he found the receipt. Looking for the person who sold Kátia's dress to the killer, França starts to call all the wedding dress sale ads published ...

Fátima likes the apartment. Adilson gets angry with Fátima when he finds out that she went to see an apartment alone with another man. They have a serious discussion and Fátima thinks her engagement is over. Donato tells Paulão that he misses Cinara, and then sees her arriving with another man. He gets angry and wants to start a fight, so Cinara and her friend decide to leave. França goes to Donato's atelier one more time and asks if he might have restored art pieces for Kátia or her husband in the past. Fátima and Adilson make it up and he tries to take her to a ...

Fátima takes the whole bottle of sleeping pills. Her parents find her unconscious and rush her to the hospital. França asks Leiloca to publish a wedding dress sale ad with her phone number, to lure the killer. Eulália questions Donato about Cinara's distant behavior. Donato calls Fátima's house and learns about her suicide attempt. Donato goes to the hospital with flowers to visit Fátima. Indalécio visits Leiloca's apartment, interested in buying the dress. They go out to dinner, under the false pretense of finishing the sale deal. Donato and Fátima start to go out ...

Leiloca receives another phone call, this time from Donato. Donato sets up a visit to see the dress. França decides to wait for him in the car outside the building and Donato spots him, driving away right after. Fátima spends a month outside the city and returns missing Donato. França tries, at all costs gather information about the person who sold Kátia's dress to the killer, and finally gets to Rita. Donato asks Fátima to wear the wedding dress and tries to have sex with her, but she refuses. Donato tries to strangle Fátima, but she manages to escape and lock ...

Rita is taken to the police station to testify. According to Rita's description of the buyer of the dress, a police sketch is made and sent to the press. Paulão calls Donato to mock his similarity with the police sketch published in the newspapers. Donato is interrogated by the police and recognized by Rita, but denies the crimes. He asks Cinara to lie on his behalf by telling the police she was with him on the night of one of the murders, but she refuses. Donato is arrested and tells his lawyer he's innocent.
