Evie Grayson is visiting her mother's grave when she hears yelling in the woods nearby. She finds two guys standing over a dead man. They chase her down and threaten her. She then finds an odd figure made of twigs and looks it up on the internet. It can conjure help for her, so she tries the spell.

A teenager Lanie has a baby and her parents try to keep her away from the infant and raise her as their own. Unfortunately, Lanie has the birch in her and has other plans.

A junkie steals Thurtson,s drug money, the gang chase him through the woods. Wes is beating him when the junkie falls on a plank with nails in it and dies. This is what Evie witnessed. Ryan trips her in the cafeteria and Evie sends the Birch to kill him.

As Evie goes to the woods to ask the Birch for help, the police find the body nearby and arrest her. Then a call comes over the radio that Ryan has been attacked while Evie was in custody.

Wes and Thurston go to the hospital to see Ryan and he says something is out to get them. They think it is Evie and Wes plans to do something about it. Thurston goes to his house to stop him and finds that he is too late.

Lanie from episode 2 is still kept from her daughter and has to adapt to life as a schoolgirl. She turns to the birch for help.

Lanie is locked in the house and is not permitted to go to school. Thad has died.

Gossip in school is that Evie has something to do with the death of Ryan and Wes. Finding her father assaulted, she pays a visit to the Polks to get revenge.

Thurston tries to cut and run with his brother Gavin, but the birch has a different plan.

Lanie wakes to find herself locked away in a mysterious bunker under the watchful eye of Dr. Sampson. But with Lanie growing more aware of her abilities, Dr. Sampson doesn't realize the power she's up against.

Waking with regrets, Evie decides to put an end to the bloodshed, but The Birch has other plans. After all, a mother's love never dies.

After pleading with Evie to spare Gavin's life, Thurston is caught by Sebastian and his men. When Thurston comes clean to them about Evie's blood-quest, Sebastian proposes a simple solution to their problems - kill the Graysons.

Sickened and exhausted by the bloodshed, can Evie and Thurston work together to end their feud by targeting the true source of both their problems?

Lanie returns home to rescue Laura and enact vicious vengeance on her parents, who she learns have morbid plans in store for them both.
