Private Detective Harley Swift is approached by an overbearing businesswoman named Madame Wolfe about the abduction of her employee, Bambi Stirling.

Madame Wolfe brings Harley down to Woods Street to question her employees and clients about Bambi's disappearance and Charlie Bacon's involvement.

Detective Swift hits the streets to find leads to Charlie Bacon's whereabouts, but has a difficult time with Wolfe breathing down her neck.

Detective Swift and Madame Wolfe get to know each other better during a stake-out. Then, Harley comes face-to-face with her most important clue yet when she questions a drunk British man about Bambi's disappearance.

Harley heads to Brick House Real Estate to get answers from her lead suspect, but instead finds more questions in a very sinister conversation.

Detective Swift confronts Madame Wolfe but later realizes she's made a powerful enemy. Then, Harley receives a chilling phone call from an informant.

After the shock of recent events Harley spends some time recovering, reflecting, and getting her head together. The respite causes her to stumble across an important clue she had always pushed away.

Everything comes to a head when Harley presents her case to Wolfe and Bambi. A stalemate is formed, past motives are unveiled, and aims are very unlucky on both accounts.

A short time after the Woods Street shootout, two people have a necessary conversation at Swift Detective Agency. Then, Madame Wolfe finds a photograph that uncovers a new mystery.
