Long-lost best friends Fumi and Akira reunite. Later that day Fumi discovers she has feelings for her cousin when it's announced she's getting married.

Trying to figure out what club to join, Fumi meets a handsome upperclassman who invites Fumi to join. Later, the girl introduces herself as Sugimoto and explains she's a member of the basketball club. Fumi joins that club immediately.

Fumi tells Yasuko she is leaving the basketball club due to her lack of aestheticism and Yasuko expresses regret for it. Yasuko asks Fumi on a date. Fumi formally joins the literary club and afterwards Yasuko takes Fumi to the library room where they share their first kiss.

Yasuko and Fumi become a couple and Yasuko wants to start going to school in the mornings with Fumi, but Fumi realizes too late that she already made that arrangement with Akira beforehand. Fumi wants to continue going to school with Akira, but in exchange, she and Yasuko will have time together after school. Fumi resolutely tells Akira that she still wants to go to school with only her and in the process comes out about her relationship with Yasuko.

Fumi confides in Akira that she suspects Yasuko is in love with another person, and after school Fumi learns that Ky?ko is in love with Yasuko. Fumi does not go with Yasuko to rehearsal since she feels awkward being around Ky?ko.

Akira is embarrassed when her parents and brother come to the play. When Fumi leaves to give Yasuko the bouquet, she sees her crying. After the play Fumi finally confronts Yasuko that she feels she's in love with someone else.

Yasuko invites Fumi to meet her family over the weekend. There, she meets Yasuko's three elder sisters and their mother. Yasuko suddenly reveals to them that she is dating Fumi.

Following Fumi's break-up with Yasuko, Fumi confides to Akira who confronts Yasuko the next day. Later on Akira, Fumi, and Ky?ko go to their usual café and Ky?ko and Fumi cannot help but cry at their sorry states.

Ky?ko brings Fumi and her friends to her fiancee?s summer villa. Fumi compliments Ky?ko on a painting and Ky?ko explains she drew it when she first fell in love with Yasuko.

Akira and Kyōko are invited to a wedding by Yasuko who begins to remember the radical things she did when she fell for Kagami.

As the new term starts, Fumi does some work in the library and is reminded of her first kiss with Yasuko. She later sees her at the station, but does not talk to her. That night, Akira and Fumi visit their old elementary school, and Fumi realizes the person she first fell in love with was Akira.
