Jack is about to be a stay-at-home dad now that his wife is returning to law school, but it's not going to be easy with a teenage daughter who's getting busy with a boyfriend in her bedroom and a teenage son going through puberty who is starting to develop an interest in girls. However, the toughest part will be his kids surviving Jack.

Joanne catches Rachel kissing a boy other than her boyfriend and finds herself in an awkward conversation about kissing somebody else while still with Jack. Meanwhile, Frankie asks Jack to coach him and his friends so they can make the varsity baseball team, but Jack thinks it's time for a life lesson about losing friends.

Frankie is trying to figure out how to ask Heather to the homecoming dance, while Jack is trying to figure out a suitable punishment for Rachel, and Joanne is trying to find adult friends to hang out with.

It's homecoming night, but Frankie is bummed that his crush, Heather, is promised to another date and Rachel is protesting the school's "No Grinding" policy. Jack and Joanne are plan a passionate night to themselves.

Jack and Joanne are at odds with each other when both kids betray their trust Frankie has his first taste of alcohol at a varsity baseball party, and Rachel wants to go on birth control.

Jack must watch Rachel and her friends while Joanne goes to study in the library. The trouble starts when she secretly invites boys. Meanwhile Frankie is dealing with the school bully.
