With the arrival of a rare foggy weather pattern known as Strawberry Spring, notorious serial killer Springheel Jack returns after an eight-year absence. Henry Denton, a former journalism major who documented the murders first hand, is brought back to investigate the case. But this time, Springheel Jack is going to make it personal.

Tensions run high as the investigation continues. Henry and Rachael's relationship evolves as his family history is brought to light. A suspect is arrested, and Chelsea brings new information to the case while Anne looks for a front-page headline. Springheel Jack makes contact with Henry in a most unconventional way.

A 2nd murder haunts the campus of New Sharon College, and a prime suspect is let go. Henry investigates the life of Charlotte Foster, while the campus is put back into lock down. Captain Spencer ramps up the police presence, and Chelsea finds a new clue from her father's police files, while Springheel Jack drags Henry further into his game of cat and mouse.

Henry and Rachael uncover a third murder scene, one more brutal than the others, while Springheel Jack sends a care package to the New Sharon Times. Captain Spencer hatches a plan to put undercover cops on campus, desperate to catch the killer.

Springheel Jack leaves evidence in Henry's car. Is he being framed? Is this a copycat killer? Henry decides to share the clues with Anne. Chief Spencer targets an old suspect from the original murders, and Chelsea's investigation takes a turn.

Haunted by the ghosts of his past and afflicted by migraines and insomnia from the stress of the case, Henry reconnects with Anne. A fourth murder, the most violent yet, pushes Chief Spencer to take extreme measures.

A new suspect is arrested that has connections to the original victims. A familiar face from Henry's past comes back to haunt him as Rachael goes into labor with Henry's baby, and Springheel Jack's true identity is revealed.

Dean Edwards can't keep the campus open any longer. As the fog rolls in, the final murder victim looms large over everyone. Henry finally confronts his past, tying up loose ends and discovering Springheel Jack's motivation. With Rachael in labor, he looks towards his future as a father, while the ghosts of his past continue to haunt him.
