When Spirou and Fantasio want to visit their friend the Count of Champignac, they see that he is on a trip away. Spip sees an open atlas and this is how they know where the Count is. Spirou and Fantasio are going skiing in their car. Because of the bad weather the trip is horrible and they decide to make a stop at a lonely, scary train station for the night. Spirou and Fantasio visit the Count for Christmas. He shows them his newest invention: a thing, which looks like a hairdryer and can make anything very small. On Christmas Eve, Oscar and Marylin show up to have dinner with them. Spirou miniaturizes the turkey by accident with the new invention. Initially, Marylin is shackled and is powerless. But when she releases herself, the disaster starts. In the night she is moving around and miniaturizes Oscar, Spirou and Fantasio. As midgets they have to fight against Marylin but with help from Spip they will win.

Spirou and Fantasio want to visit the Count of Champignac but find he is gone again. In a video-message he tells them that he wants to spend six months in a greenhouse which, based on the living conditions of the Earth on a smaller scale. He tells Fantasio and Spirou that he already has plane tickets for them and that they can join him for the experiment in Cap South. At the last second they can escape, where the helicopter can't follow them. But there is a waterfall and they all fall down deep. When they recover, Fantasio suddenly wants to attack Spirou and Spip. Spirou learns from a travel journal that there are dangerous mosquitos, that make those bitten by them aggressive. Spirou and Spip have to bring themselves into safety.

One night, when Spirou and Fantasio investigate a smuggling-story in a storehouse of an airport, they discover two strange figures, who tamper with a box. The criminals notice them and disappear. When Spirou and Fantasio open the box, they find a Yeti. They wonder what do with the poor animal. If they inform the police, it can be possible that the Yeti will be locked up in the zoo. The Count of Champignac has to go on a journey and leaves Spirou and Fantasio behind. Not much later, a vehicle arrives and the Count steps out. But the astonished friends learn that this is not the Count but his nephew, who comes from the future. He asks the trio to travel with him into the future to help him to solve a big problem. But the future has some surprises for them.

Vito is in jail and out of luck. He sends his former cell-mate to the Count of Champignac. Maybe he has something against bad luck. Rupert observes the Count in his laboratory while he shows a new magical fertilizer to Spirou and Fantasio: But despite the fertilizer, the plant dies. Rupert steals the fertilizer the next night to blackmail the Count: Either he finds something to help Vito against his bad luck or he will use the fertilizer at a certain place.
