A Wheels on Meals van is stolen and it is used it to attack the recluse father of Councillor Fordham. One of the robber's is a girl, who badly beats him and takes his safe but not before "Old" Fordham groped his attacker.

A young boy discovers a dead body in a car that has driven off the road. The man is chemist Maurice Sims who has been poisoned. Sims is part of a group of middle class swingers and has an eye for a number of ladies. Who killed him?

Cafe Terni, restaurant owner Mr Chapman has made the "Good Food Guide" now he is attracted the attention of a protection racket. Next day he is visited by "D.I. Andrews" who offers help from the police at a price.

PC's Dodds, Perry and W.P.C Arthur are embedded, at safe house, with supergrass Charlie Grant, who has given information on 17 robberies. Charlie's wife and son make their feelings, on grassing, known and Charlie makes a break for it.

Det. Chief Insp. Hawkins and Sgt Evans mount a operation into the theft from high end dress makers and now available on Kingley Market. The pair discover a thriving market of copied originals that are made on demand

Following a fire, Julie, widow of former fence Alfie Brent says she is being forced out her business. The people who really own it are only going to make her a deal but on their terms. Julie attempts to play them off against the police.

PC Lincoln gets a tip of a robbery at Hobbs Tailors. D.C.I. Hawkins' team make two straightforward arrests on the premises and a third nearby. However, when it comes to court, they find themselves accused of "verballing" a confession

An armed man claims he has placed six bombs in a department store and wants £10,000 to tell them where before they explode. The man is Maurice Hobbes is a washed up villain working as a front for a dangerous woman.

A decomposed body of a male has been found in Kingley Woods. The body could have there from up to two years and has been stabbed and shot. The same gun was used by Alec Kenny but he has been jail for over two years

Jack and Jenny Price home is burgled and £10,000 stolen. Businessman Price realises that only one other person would know where the money is hidden, in his home, and baits a trap. He shoots the intruder who flees but later dies.

D.C.S. Watt gets a tip off that a big Melbourne shoplifting gang are heading for Mosby and Kane's in Kingley. A big surveillance operation is set in place but the only person caught is petty shoplifter with a complicated family life.

D.C.I. Hawkins leads the inquiry into an attack, in a local night club, on PC Raven. This is the third policeman attacked in two weeks and his wife demands answers. PC Snow plays the diplomat when escorts a Commonwealth detective.

Vic Welsh is trying to recruit George Hartley as a getaway driver. Welsh has no record but has been behind a string of big jobs. Hartley goes to PC Snow for help. The job is worth £140,000 but Hartley needs £1,500 in payment.

Arthur Davisworth receives an anonymous call offering him a new sealing process that has past the trial stage at Sidwich and Reynolds. He was offer this process for £10,000. There is bad blood after Reynolds may have stole his process.

Mr. Justice Ballantyre is about to move into Orchard Cottage, in Bathurst. About to spend three days in the area the building is set on fire. An FDR (Free the Daventry Resisters) leaflet is left by a group squatters who he sentenced.
