Manta meets Asakura Yoh, a shaman who can see spirits. He later befriends Yoh after Yoh merges with a legendary samurai spirit to save him from thugs.

Yoh and Manta encounter the shaman Ren, who shows no mercy when fighting a punk. Furious at Ren's misuse of his powers, Yoh faces him in battle.

Anna tells Yoh about a shaman tournament who make the winner the Shaman King. Ren's older sister Jun challenges Yoh to a high-stake fight.

Tokageroh possess Ryu and takes Manta hostage. Yoh risks everything to save everyone.

A Shaman King tournament officiant tests Yoh to determine his worthiness to join the Shaman Fight.

Yoh goes to his first fight in the Shaman Fight, facing Horohoro whose power is manipulating ice and snow.

Yoh is enraged by Faust VII, a sadist necromancer who wants to perform a dangerous operation on Manta.

Yoh is going to face Ren as his opponent. He intentionally distances himself from Manta to avoid him getting into danger.

Coming back from training, Yoh finally faces Ren in the last match of preliminary round. Who will emerge victorious?

Ren travels to China to settle a family problem. Yoh is ambushed by two shamans who use music when fighting.

Bason seeks help from Asakura Yoh and his friend to help Tao Ren, however Tao Ren is persistent in accomplishing his aim.

Yoh, Ren, and the others make their way toward Tao En. Though formidable, he is not able to make Yoh and friends back down.

Looking for the Patch Village, Yoh and his friends learn about the Patch Tribe and the mighty Hao himself.

On their way to find the Patch Village, Yoh's group is visited by Lyserg who wants to join their group out of the blue.

Yoh's grandfather sends Anna on a mission to deliver an ancient book to Yoh. He said that the book will make Yoh much stronger.

Yoh and friends arrive at the entrance to Patch Village. But they are ambushed by Hao's minions.

Ryu appears hopeless in his fight against Boris the vampire. However, he releases a new power he got from his training with Yoh's grandfather.

Yoh and friends finally arrive at Patch Village. They encounter the Great Spirit and each of them experience it in a unique way. A cheerful comedian joins their group.

While searching for Lyserg, Faust makes a surprising appearance and an even startling offer. The Shaman Fight begins.

Team Ren faces off with Hao's Team Tuschigumi. When cornered in the fight, Joco flashes back to his past and makes an uncanny counter attack.

Yoh's claim that he'll win his upcoming match with one blow provokes team Funbari Onsen's next opponents, the Icemen.

Faust showcases his new Over Soul and made the Icemen launch their last counterattack. Yoh prepares to do what he promised the other night.

Yoh meets with Lyserg to settle their differences. X-Laws' team X-III goes face-to-face with Hao's team Hoshigumi in the tournament.

As Hao singlehandedly brings X-III to their knees, the secret of his past and tremendous power comes to light.

Hao's Spirit of Fire shocks everyone with its new form. A mysterious masked man confronts Team Ren and offers to teach them how to be stronger.

Beaten by Yoh's father in a fight, Ren gains a new power. Hao's followers begin hunting the souls of Shaman Fight participants.

Despite his new power, Ren is heavily injured by Peyote. Yoh intervenes the battle to save Ren and set a shocking plan in motion.

Hao's team Hanagumi sneaks on Mikihisa's teammates and try to take their souls. Anna comes to help them escape.

Yoh accepts Iron Maiden's condition to save Ren. Anna recalls her first time meeting Yoh five years ago. Yoh's first spirit ally is revealed.

Yoh struggles to understand his bride-to-be while figures out who is behind the demon that attacked him.

Anna starts opening her heart to Yoh. The danger behind her powers is revealed as New Year approaches.

Yoh and Matamune goes to the shrine to save Anna from the giant demon. However, there is only one way Yoh is ever able to defeat it.

Yoh officially withdraws from the Shaman Fight. Iron Maiden's ability to revive people comes to the surface.

Horohoro helps out the Icemen from Brocken's ambush. Lyserg brings the injured Horohoro home as Peyote launches a sneak attack at the inn.

Mikihisa's teammates sets out to avenge their father's death. Ryu comes to save Chocolat and Yoh confronts the children.

Golem's true power is revealed. Chocolat makes a come back when Ren and the others are cornered. Hao sends Opacho for an errand.

Opacho asks Yoh to rejoin the Shaman Fight or Hao will kill Golem and the children. Having no choice, Yoh tries to persuade the X-Laws with force.
