The Brookes twins differ in looks and ambition when they turn eighteen, Arden's unhappy when Ellie receives a marriage proposal instead of her, and The Ice Cubes and a talent contest are seen as a route out of Eccles.

Irma insists on making the decisions about what the girls are going to do, Ellie and Dallas work together after The Wolf suggests a demo tape, and Norman finds something worrying when he looks to expand his empire.

The Wolf finds himself next to Irma when he takes Ellie out to a concert, Larry tells the Ice Cubes that a producer wants to see him perform, and Arden reveals that she's pregnant after learning why Dallas lost interest.

Howard asks Ellie whether she really wants to give up on her big dreams, the Ice Cubes get ready to move to London after they sign a record deal, and Dallas decides that it's time for him to face up to his responsibilities.

Arden's not too pleased when her big day ends in the recording studio, Howard upsets his mother by announcing that he is moving to London, and Ellie comes to the rescue when Dallas struggles to write a hit song.

Dallas worries when he doesn't hear anything from Ellie in two months, Howard's stunned when he finds out a few things about his father, and Irma realises that she got it wrong when a birth certificate is filled out.
